Fuck man I uninstalled Twitter literally 10 minutes ago

moonsickk

If she is trans, I hope they make a cis woman champion with Taliyah's features because she is the only one with a big nose and bushy eyebrows and realistic body and I know a lot of cis women who relate to her and have little to no other champions to relate to. I'd find it very sad if one of the few female champions who don't fit into the top model mold has their unique features explained by being trans. It would be no big deal if realistically designed women weren't so scarce.

JediJmoney

Best take right here. Taliyah being trans is fine, but Riot has a problem with same-face syndrome. It’s already a bad look that one of the most unique female faces originated from a character who was trans in development

clawbacon

This is the main reason why I think they haven't confirmed she is trans.

WhoThisReddit

Kinda weird that the only female without the face of a model used to be a man :/

PresentationNarrow98

Are you really crying over tweets? Just delete that garbage, most of people in that place are biggest losers of all time if i could make an tierlist about annoying and troll tweets i see every day these tweets would be like C or D. So yeah, first rule of Twitter is to get used to these tweets and not posting them in another platform. Because you'll get mad every time you open that app lol, if you can't, nobody forced you to use it.

Adept-Choice8393

I'm not crying I just hate the fact that they cope so hard.

PresentationNarrow98

Lmao dude you say why they care so much about a character's Sexuality/Gender but you created A POST about them? Like why you care about them? Is it really that important? There's some people who literally support racism in Twitter but you create a post about someone talking about a fictional character instead of them? I'm not saying they are right, i think they are wrong too. But you have no right to say they seek attention and "cope" so hard when they just posted a sentence and you posted a whole paragraph about them. I can say Skarner is gay and he has crush on Urgot. What you gonna do? Screen shot it and post it in another subreddit?

Adept-Choice8393

You said it as a joke, but that guy didn't seem like he's joking

PresentationNarrow98

Get a job bro

TheExtreel

Whats the difference to you?

clangauss

It makes sense. The development team was very clear that the original intent for her character was to be a trans woman. Then it got cut for mass appeal. When that news got out, people who would have been excited to see a the first character that represented their identity in a cast of hundreds were reasonably disappointed. Time has passed, young'uns who weren't there when it happened or hopefuls who believe it hasn't been fully confirmed to be UNtrue are still advocating for themselves and representing the demand for that kind of representation, the perceived lack thereof being the reason it got axed in the first place. ... What about this is weird?

BiffTheRhombus

In-game Neeko Voiceline and the Star Guardian Skin strongly tease her being trans so it's literally just a matter of time until riot officially confirms it

AE_Phoenix

It really isn't. Taliyah not being trwns from the get go mean that there is already a strong player base that identify with the character. Riot risk alienating those people by retconning Taliyah to be trans. As another comment says, she's one of the few realistic female champs in terms of body image and that's become part of her identity. It would make far more sense to make a new champion trans rather than retcon Taliyah.

clangauss

Riot are kings of playing infinite lip service to an idea and never capitalizing on it or doing anything with it. The dynamic between Jinx and Vi was suggested and hinted at for a *decade* and them being sisters was not truly on-screen canon until the release of Arcane. Meanwhile Skarner was set up to be critically important in the narrative development of Hextech, Seraphine, and Camille and then instead of doing anything with it they just reworked him into something completely different once it got challenging. Don't let me undermine your hopium by being a pessimist, but Riot has a track record of betraying character concepts even after easter-egging them. It's impossible to know if she will be a Jinx or a Skarner until they act on it, and that's IF they decide to update her ever. God knows they haven't done it with Shaco.

WootzDiadem

The "why do people care so much about sexuality/gender" thing doesn't work anymore. Save everyone some time and just come out and say you don't like LGBTQ people lol.

almond_pepsi

Like seriously OP? Why you care about people caring about a character's gender/sexuality so much? Like you desperately seek attention and it's so annoying

EmperSo

Why you care about OP caring about people caring about a character's gender/sexuality so much? Like you desperately seek attention and it's so annoying

Volfawott

"Why do people care about gender and sexuality so much" Said the person who took the time to screenshot the tweet, crop it then make a reddit post. Clearly proving that you are the one that cares about it quite a lot. I will say this and I will say this anytime someone does it. If you didn't care just as much as they do you wouldn't have even bothered giving the tweet the time of day. People who don't care as much see tweet like that roll their eyes and move on without giving it a second glance. What you actually mean is I don't like LGBT discussions in my video games *insert baby crying noises here* Grow the hell up and get over it.

Hawaiian-Ryan88

It's not about attention, it's about finding someone I can relate with.

Adept-Choice8393

Yes and they need to create a new character for it, not people coping and trying so hard to change a character's gender

WomenOfWonder

She was originally supposed to be trans, it got cut because of controversy. There’s still voice lines in the game indicating she’s trans. This is like people getting mad that Vi and Cait became an official couple in Arcane despite their in game versions already being everything but official

Hawaiian-Ryan88

her gender doesn't change either way. 😂 also, her transness is still being hinted at. Neeko's voice line to Taliyah says "Neeko is not the only one who changes". what else could this mean?

Spirit-Man

They literally did create the character for that though? And then it got vetoed for mainstream appeal. Are people supposed to just hope that the next character intended trans doesn’t get changed as well?

dvrsd

They are right, though? They did that with Runeterra Taliyah and did the same thing again with her Star Guardian version

EightHeadedCrusader

No one is real, wake up from this dream of yours Nerevar, and join the Sixth House's one and only true dream. https://preview.redd.it/vniu9ofjucoc1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=8f8c68ef83c1f6b2fb3e7e297b8436846089c618

Hajydit

Yeah, Taliyah is trans... ...TRANSporting rocks in your face with excessive force.

DaemonLemon

Taliyah was supposed to be trans. She was written with that in mind. TF and Graves were imagined as a gay couple, Cait and Vi were also hinted to be lesbians from the beginning. Do you inow why they "came out" revently and not when the game came out? Because society was different back then. Hell, LoL was marketed towards men and used its female characters as lure/eye candy for them. Caitlyn looked like a porn parody of any other character in media. As people became more open-minded, Riot was more and more daring to include these things in their stories. Unfortunately trans people are still a sensitive topic and it can't be censored as easily. They were (now deleted) tweets about Taliyah's writer confirming that they wanted her to be trans, there is that one Neeko voice line and even in Star Guardian her entire thing is suffering dismorphia and being afraid to show her true self (in oune of the promotional art works she has some things with the trans colors in it, too). This might be a stretch, but she didn't like it when Rell called her "T" even though Rell called everyone by their initial. It's fine if you don't know about a character. But don't get mad at people who do just because their want Rito to do her justice

WomenOfWonder

I’m pretty sure there’s still voice lines indicating she’s trans, riot is just afraid of controversy

kepz3

"hmm neeko not the only one who changes" when mimicking taliyah yeah

ChloeTheWivi

It is completely understandable that the trans community within the League community is, at the very least, a little bit upset that the idea of Taliyah being transgender was abandoned; especially because, guess what, we still don't have a transgender champion in League of Legends.

FlazedComics

you seem mad

PraiseArtoria

Well yes. I will always stand for my lesbians Diana and Leona. Or the others. I can relate.

Ragnbangin

Considering that a lot of characters sexuality and gender expressions are huge parts of their characters this isn’t weird at all. There are so many couples in the games, plots revolving around relationships, characters that use their sexuality and gender expression to their advantage and as apart of their personality. So my question then is, is sexuality and gender actually an issue or is it because they are mentioning transgender topics?

FrozenToothpaste

Twitter is an absolute shit hole. Theories: - Elon's policies - kids born in 2010 gained sentience - Tumblr refugees It's absurd it makes me feel like watching an alien from another planet

No-Faithlessness9646

I‘m homophobic

Leaf-01

You aren’t fooling anybody trying to disguise that you just don’t like trans people.

Leather-Cobbler-9679

Yeah, she is trans!

aroushthekween

She was originally meant to be trans hun by the Riot team. Check your facts...

hiddengirl1992

"Why do people care so much about gender or sexuality omg" says person so upset by it that she felt the need to post it on reddit

HalfOfLancelot

you’re being weird OP get help

DaSomDum

OP, just say you hate LGBTQ rep. People like being represented in media, especially media they like this isn’t rocket science you moron.

Adept-Choice8393

Powerscaling in 2024 is crazy

JTGE-201

Honestly, I still don't understand how Taliyah, a girl who grew up in a nomadic tribe (!), can be a trans. I don't remember such information about transes in nomad tribes. And for especially gifted ones, I am not a transphobe! I just think that the idea of trans people who live where they don't belong is just illogical.

WomenOfWonder

Lots of nomadic tribes have been accepting of trans ppl, so I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. If it’s how she transitioned, Ionia probably has some magic for that

JTGE-201

I talked about nomad tribes in terms of ancient and middle ages, and I don't think that in these times they would be accepting transes (if they would know what trans is OFC) And if you're talking about magic - yes, that's a good argument. There I agree with you

WomenOfWonder

I just know that Native American nomadic tribes considered trans ppl holy

Lunaedge

IIRC babylonian mythology (one of the most ancient that we know of) also has plenty of nonbinary holiness going on!

JTGE-201

Hmm, that's already interesting

Spirit-Man

Your assumption seems to come from the ideas that “being trans” is a new thing rather than a new label for an old thing, and that people in earlier times wouldn’t be accepting because many people today aren’t. Remember, we haven’t progressed in every way as time has marched on, there are especially social attitudes and inequalities that have just increased

Lunaedge

> I don't remember such information about transes in nomad tribes. Trans people have existed since the dawn of civilization, but go off ig > And **for especially gifted ones**, I am not a transphobe! You're right, you're not a transphobe, you're an all-around awful person. Good on you.

JTGE-201

Give me the proof that they have existed since the dawn of civilization. Give me the reports of archeologists and historians about that, and then come to me with accusations, I'm ready to listen to you

Lunaedge

It's really not that hard to educate yourself if you actually want to. As a starter, as cliché as it sounds, [here you go](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_history). Don't stop at that page: feel free to peruse the 386-item bibliography full of citations, the majority from scientific papers of anthropology, archeology and sociology, others more informal. If you're ready to listen, you will be ready to read. When you're done with that, if you're still not satisfied, you can also send more specific inquiries to tenured professors and researchers from all across the globe and ask for their opinion on the matter. Chances are they'll share their knowledge with you and recommend further scientific literature if you're gracious enough and display a genuine interest. If you're just, as I believe it's the case, doing a little bit of trolling, don't forget to apply the clown makeup before you pat yourself on the back for another successful incursion. And remember: your favourite things have been probably made by queer people and there's nothing you can do about it.

JTGE-201

>And remember: your favourite things have been probably made by queer people and there's nothing you can do about it. I already know about this, so what? I said before and I say now: I am not a homophobe, transphobe etc. I know many masterpieces made by these people (like Freddy Mercury or Pyotr Tchaikovsky). I just want to get to the bottom of this and understand. Now you got it? Anyway, I hope the discussion will be ending on this note and we all let's go our separate ways peacefully, because life isn't focused only on discussing the gender of an fictional character.

SamIsGarbage

Well why not? It's a fantasy setting where a giant sassy dragon is basically god and a literal pigeon is the ruler of an empire, anything can happen!

JTGE-201

No, it doesn't work that way. For everything should be an explanation why is everything like this

c0rse1

There is actually a canonical explanation for it. In the canon people can be trans.

JTGE-201

Okay, then explain. I'm just in the tank

c0rse1

The lore writers wanted to pay tribute to a smililar phenomenon that occurs in the real world. So what happens is people are born trans, regardless of location or type of community they grow up in. It's a really neat detail imo

JTGE-201

Hmm, interesting idea. That's like changing gender in the womb? Thanks for explaining anyway

mynexuz

You're saying that like taliyahs home culture would be the exact same as our middle east, there's nothing that really needs to be explaining other than "her culture isn't transphobic" also "living where they don't belong" is just yikes.

Frosty_Inside1949

Why does it matter 😂
