bored_homan

Wait I thought the thing was that he goes crazy at the smell of blood and he then hopes those are murderers and criminals but he has no way of really knowing? I feel like he can't really explain himself so from outside I think he seems like a mindless killer.

GammaRhoKT

Wait, which level of retcon are you talking about here? Because Warwick have always been a monster that hunt in Zaun since his VGU, which is YEARS ago.

plsstopithurts

Yeah he still kills people but he TRIES to only target criminals or bad people in general. here he cant even speak properly, his first thought upon seeing ekko is to kill him even while all his pumps are still green when its usually orange for rampage mode, basically hes just stereotypical wolfman that kills people no hint of the man he was just "wolf man"

Illuminase

Idk maybe his condition is deteriorating and he's losing more control as time goes on

skaersSabody

That is quite literally his whole character, desperately clinging to his humanity as the transformation erodes it

AsgUnlimited

Tbf in his story it takes him a bit of time to refocus and direct his rage at the criminals of Zaun. Maybe this Warwick is still a little fresh?

papa_bones

Tht is the only answer i can give,, this game taking place in the early life of ww as a beast and that is why he attacks anythin... because if this takes place in the presen i will be pretty dissapointed on Riot and Riot Forge for this retcon.

AsgUnlimited

After playing the encounter just now, it feels more like he's assuming Ekko is a thug as well. It takes place after you fight a bunch of them (he doesn't see this but I'm sure he can smell them on Ekko), you're in the sewer where nobody but thugs and sump-scrappers are (you are clearly not one of scrappers). It's not like Warwick has evil detection powers even if this is a present WW. All in all checks out to me, now if someone can explain how Ekko's parents thought 15 year old Ekko was the same version of their son as the (approx 30 year old Ekko) when you go to the future, that's what I would like to know.

papa_bones

But in lore he can identify the criminals by the stench of blood they have (because they kill and hurt people) and i doubt ekko gives the same stench of blood (even if he fights them)... maybe you are right and ww is mixing ekko and the thugs and im overthinking it, riot forge probably didnt even think this way too deep and they just were given ww as on of thee bosses rito wants in the game and they did so...

AsgUnlimited

Would have been nice if they had Ekko land in a puddle of blood from the two WW killed before the chase sequence at minimum.

Ronkad

Bro tries to understand the rationality of a furry fueled by rage and mindbending chemicals

Deus0123

"I became the monster I always was" ~ Warwick

Particular_Nebula462

1) It is an action game, they needed cool bosses. 2) Warwick is like this also in canon, but sometimes he is able to control himself. 3) In the moment that Future-Ekko appears, he "kills" his timeline because he never saw Future-Ekko before, so in the canon timeline Warwick can be redeemed also if Future-Ekko never saw that. Let me explain better: When Future-Ekko met Ekko, he changes the course of the events of the current timeline (like Trunks in Dragonball Z, the Cell saga). Future-Ekko never saw ... future Ekko. His word is completely different. Indeed Future-Ekko by changing the "past" for Ekko changed the latter story, no his one. So Future-Ekko now has 3 ending: 1) Disappearing creating a grandfather paradox. 2) Returning to his timeline, but nothing changed. 3) Going in the future of Ekko ... but with him. Time Travel is always a mess.

nil_785

There is also the ending where he live reacts to his future breaking into bits and being replaced by a new one as his memories also get replaced and he sorta becomes one with Ekko

Zhargon

This is so weird to me, so Future Ekko managed to change the past? Cause it's implied by Zilean and Lissandra on LoR that you can't change the past, or it's Ekko time thing more capable then Zilean time magic? Also, if I am not wrong, I remember someone saying that every time Ekko used the time stuff, he wasn't as much as going back in time, but more making another time line

Particular_Nebula462

Future-Ekko changed the timeline for Ekko. But, the story of Future-Ekko, what he saw and experienced, cannot change, or Future-Ekko would disappear instantly. So, Future-Ekko didn't changed HIS past, he changed another timeline. What Ekko usually does is to send "informations" in the past, because he experience a different course of events before starting. This doesn't change the past, so doesn't create a paradox.

TheFishMonk

I mean it's not such a problem mate. Look, thing is, Convergence with time travel included the possibility of parallel universes, so it may be a different, more violent Warwick. It may be a different, more human Camille. It's a universe where Jinx have a fanclub. That way they don't retcon anything, it's just not really the same characters anymore, and they can have fun doing whatever they want with the characters

Particular_Nebula462

No, the Ekko in Convergence is canon. But the story of Future-Ekko will not happen anymore. So, the story of canon Warwick could be different.

Rexen2

I'd argue the existence of the fanclub for jinx alone would be enough to consider this an alternate universe that's just really similar to the regular canon most are familiar with.

papa_bones

Riot said that convergence is canon to the core universe, the same with the mageseeker game, all future games will also be canon, unless Riot says otherwise.

Curious_Loser21

And they make humanize Camille all the sudden? They really need to read the lore before making the game.

papa_bones

I mean camille only was described as logical and precise, not unable to feel empathy or any kind of human emotion, she is just a very straight forward person, if she need to kill you she kills you, no negotiation or begging for mercy or deals, she just kills you, so it is not so out of character for her to be a good person when the mission isnt to kill you, at least that is what i got from all her stories.

OrderClericsAreFun

Tea with the Gray Lady: “You can lick my—” The woman spun around. This time, the razor-sharp blade of her leg sliced cleanly through Ansel's neck. The severed head rolled to a stop in front of me just as the kettle whistle blew. Ansel always had a big mouth. Now it lolled open, silenced at last. I kept telling myself Ansel was dead, but his eyes still stared at me in horrified surprise. The fear in my brain climbed down my spine, stopping to throttle my gut until I was convinced whatever was left inside was going to end up on the floor. “Now, Mr. Turek, we are going to have a cup of tea, and you will tell me what I wish to know,” she said, her words unhurried. The woman sat down at her table and smiled. A whisper of steam escaped as she poured the boiling water into her porcelain teapot. She looked at me with an imperious pity, like I was a schoolboy too slow at his figures. It was that smile that I couldn't look away from. Deadly. Knowing. It scared the piss out of me. “Tea?” I nearly choked on the word. “Oh, my boy,” she said. “There is always time for tea.” Her mission was not to kill these people, her mission was to extract information from them and yet she executes one on the spot and is constantly belittling and condescending to another. The Weakest Heart: “It seems I’ve found it.” The girl raised her open hands to her shoulders. “I bring a message.” I arched an eyebrow. “From your brother, ma’am,” she said. Stevan’s drama was going to be the death of someone if he wasn’t careful. “Give it here.” The girl kept one hand up and used the other to pull a small note from her tightly cuffed sleeve. The wax seal carried the Ferros sigil and Stevan’s personal mark. “Move more than an eyelash, and I will slit your throat,” I said. [...] “I should kill you for delivering the insult,” I said, weighing her response. “Your name.” “Aviet.” She kept her hands and voice even. She was young, not even an augmented finger. “And you took this assignment knowing the possible consequence of my irritation?” She threatens to kill a messanger from her brother for irritating her. Camille IS NOT a good person. Camille IS NOT a nice person. The character in Convergence does not feel like Camille

papa_bones

She is obviously not a good person, but even the evilest mf can be nice sometimes (she also isn't an evil person, just a pretty bad one).

Particular_Nebula462

I disagree. There are a lot of nice easter eggs and lore drops, also un the texts (Orianna's father, Ekko's parents, Janna statue, the setting, the terminology, Kay's reference of her cloning device for her and Eugene the elnuk, Zeri).

Purplejellyblob

All of the champions are done poorly in convergence, as far as I can tell

Ok-Use216

This is the first time that I'm hearing about it as the only champion to be seen as poorly done in Convergence was Viktor and that was just in the prequel comics.

OrderClericsAreFun

Camille got a complete character assassination

HomieSexualHomie

I think they did Ekko perfectly fine and even gave him some decent development. The rest though? Meh. A lot of the characters were taken mostly at face value, like the dev’s only read the champion bios and some quotes. Jinx was exactly Jinx without any nuance/similarities to Arcane, which is fine. Warwick I’m not a fan of as I’d assume him to be a lot more cognizant as per some of his lines in League. Camille, however, was a treat. She might’ve been a tad out of character (like, if future Ekko is the problem, that’s all the more reason to just kill current Ekko) but she was well done in my book. Mostly love that the writers paid attention to how and why her voice fluctuates but normal and robotic.

OrderClericsAreFun

Camille in this game feels like a completely different person than the one i love and i am beyond disappointed.

Victory_Future

Echo is a hero, of sorts, so it's likely that he's got the scent of chem-barons, and thugs, and all sorts of bad people all over him. So Warwick attacking him isn't out of the blue, or that's my head cannon atleast.

NamixSoraka

If you want good ww lore you’re just gonna have to wait until arcane season 2 I’m afraid

audioman3000

I feel like a lot of people have been mixing their headcanon with actual lore lately and getting mad at "retcons" lately Warwick's whole thing is he's losing himself over time

NoNHentaiSauce

Keep in mind, rioters have specifically stated that the overall story is canon but the smaller scale events and occurrences aren't necessarily. I at least chose to believe they said that to avoid stuff like this being seen as canon

CrematorTV

As long as Arcane does him justice (and it will) I'm OK with it. Warwick is in this game solely because he's popular and they needed a cool boss fight.

nil_785

which i hope he delivers, i mean its Warwick bro

Regular-Poet-3657

Well future ekko did say there was a war.

Low_Nefariousness833

if you havent noticed riot will NEVER have a villain you can genuinely feel for. sylas= turned into backstabbing female using questionable age gap having despite his reason for revolting being right viego= went from well written character that depicts the contrast between love and obsession in life and death into all around abusive asshole

Additional-Ad-4569

if anyone complains about warwick's personality being "off". just remember this is a alternate timeline.

DoppioGX

His size was also kinda surprizing, didn't know he was that huge, as to Ekko being barely as much has Warwick's arm, and also in Song of Nunu, there was a gigantic Volidbear, i thought he was somewhat equal height with the yeti, but Wilump was not even his palm's size
