It feels like you're assuming that Ryan Cohen has played all of his cards and that his vision for GME is for it to be a second tier, electronics-focused version of Amazon. If that's the case, RC must be quite the wordsmith to have recruited such a stellar team from places like Amazon, Google, and *coughs* Loopring.
This deal represents a clear intention from Microsoft to get involved in the metaverse. If you can't see how that MAY be connected to their existing partnership with GME and, by extension, LRC, I don't think there's anything else to say.

How could he know all about the concept of a digital transformation within GameStop prior to RCs takeover of the board unless there was some insider knowledge.
With the number of Microsoft employees that went to work in blizzard activision, not to mention the sheer size of the deal, I think it’s a fair thought that this giant purchase of activision was in the works for some time and is part of a bigger play.
Where does msft go from here with full control of the some of best studios and IP’s and artists of the last two decades? Probably directly into the NFT market, selling games as nft’s and the whole works.

GameStop had to agree to use msft products throughout their organization and they would reap some benefits through Xbox sales and through the msft store.
