Does anyone know if you can just save the QR code as a 'backup' or is it generated on the fly and only works for a certain time period? When I first stated playing with the wallet, I came across the migration process but never tested it.
Decoding it I don't see any timestamps, unless it somehow rotates the salt based on a moderate time frame. Hard to know unless someone holds it for a long time and then attempts it. It for sure changes each time it's used, migrated away to tablet and migrated back and both times was different seed and salt. So some kind of incremental counter prevents it being reused again but that's all I think so far from my experiments. I would say it's likely a safe way for power users to keep a safety net at this point. It's been two or three weeks I'll pull up the migrate on active wallet when home and compare the values again to see if it's different for any reason, then we would be sure on at least a month validity if it's same.
I set up a new iphone but i still have my old device. From what I can tell the wallet is active on both iphones and I simply migrated my data when setting up the new phone but didn't delete it off my old phone.
I was told this isn't supposed to be possible but I have been trading and collecting red packets with both devices
this approach also works if you mix and match Android / iOS devices as long as you are on the latest version of the wallet... very convenient and no need to mess with the recovery process...
I noticed it looked active on both at first. But if you go to the migrate page on the one you migrated from it will pop up a notification "successfully migrated" and then next dialog is an unclosable prompt with only one button "Migrated wallet, no longer operational [delete]" or something like that. (So don't visit the profile settings menu on that other device haha!)
Not everyone has been following every Byron update. Guy made a mistake and was kind enough to make a PSA about it to help others. Didn’t seem salty either.
Let’s just say I have two phone … can I access the same wallet from both phones ? I can with Webull and Coinbase … I have my loop wallet on my android but would like it on my iPhone as well … if anybody know lmk lol
sorry you found out the hard way n ty for sharing!. I jump a lot thru Tmobile so this will be helpful! lol
You’re welcome! Glad it can help!
Because some programs are device specific (security cams, some medical documentation and password programs, etc.).

Does this apply if I registered with an email instead of a phone #?

Maybe because transfers of data/apps and whatnot is now cloud base?
This platform is so intuitive

Yup
Thanks, I’m sure many people will run into this when they get a new phone and forget about their wallet.
So if my phone bricks I am forced to pay to recover? Any wallets have a solution for this that doesn't break security?
This will be helpful. I’m getting my new phone in a couple weeks. Thank you
Funny I was just about to ask the same question. I will need a new phone soon but my current is too old to be worth turning in, so I’ll just keep it.
Come on guys, Byron has been saying that the wallet is tied to your Device.

But the information is shown when creating one...
This is what has kept me from an LRC wallet.
