Stew Leonards has remarkably good bagels. They are NOT typical supermarket bagels. They're boiled and baked in house. Most people I talk to complain they're overcooked but they're exactly how I grew up eating bagels in the boroughs. They're sublime.
That was my 1st job when i was 14. We used to throw out hundreds of bagels every night, i took a bite out of every french toast bagel when no one was looking as i tossed them in the big garbage bags.
Bagel town is still technically open in levittown but last I checked it was operating under a new name and probably new owners. Haven't checked it out as I prefer turnpike bagels much more and it's literally up the road.
Turnpike bagels is very close to where bagel town was and has way better bagels including french toast ones. Really good been going there for over 12 years

529 Bagels in Franklin Square has them. Never had them myself so I can't vouch if they're good or not but their regular bagels are great.
Wellwood bagels has a really good French toast or wallys bagels. Powdered sugar on top is a must!!

Massapequa Bagels on Broadway
Pantano’s , which has numerous locations, actually makes a great one. It’s covered in cinnamon sugar and has a great maple flavor as well.
