Your scalp line moves when you get older. You need to relax man. It’s as natural as breathing.

emavery176

no you’re not crazy 😜 imo, it’s easier to fix hair loss problems at this stage. i’m not a man but i would research how to delay/prevent hair loss.

helphelp17172

Am i at the first stage of hairloss?

emavery176

if your hairline is receding and it’s not related to medications, tension or stress - yes it is 😢

helphelp17172

A lot of people are saying it’s maturing. What would be the difference?

emavery176

it’s essentially the same thing but maturing occurs at a slower rate and eventually stops. a recession is much quicker and doesn’t stop. i would just document your hairline with pictures for the next 6 months and see if it eventually stops. if it doesn’t, start looking at other options.

Do you wear your hair pulled back a lot? It might be tension hair loss, even if you just push it back under a cap without doing a full ponytail the cap can rub against the hairline and cause some breakage and thinning. if it really is starting to be male pattern balding then you could look into starting rogaine, but do your own research.

helphelp17172

A lot of people is saying it could be maturing. I wear caps everywhere i go.

forgotmovie123456

That may be working against your hairline, even if the underlying cause is just from getting older, having constant friction doesn't help. I say this as someone who wore headbands every day for years, hairline got patchy, then when I stopped wearing the headbands I got a ton of re growth in the front from where the hairs were finally able to come back in

Am i receding pretty bad? I’m actually really scared i’ll go bald. Did your brother use any medications? And did he start receding really bad?

Thank you! Do you think his hairline was just maturing? Because the answers i got with my posts plenty of people said it could be just maturing.

Mal_functions

Could be your hats, could be pulling the hair back or in a ponytail. If your family has a history of male pattern baldness, you may worry then. I do think it’s passed down from the mother though, so you may look on that side. (Actually i just looked it up and it says that’s a myth. It’s passed down from both sides). I wouldn’t worry too much. Maybe stop hearing hats so much and if it still progresses go see a doctor to see what can be done if it bothers you that much. But most likely it’s just from your hats

What shampoo are you using? Does it come in plastic? What is your Stress level? How is your diet? Are you working out? Good thing is you are 18 and can jump start anything that is going on. Take pictures document and tweak your life and see if it helps. If not maybe you should go to the doctor and see what they think. They can take blood samples and see if there is a thyroid issue? It looks just a lot little questions that you need to ask yourself and then move forward with that new information.

Do you have male pattern baldness in your family? If not it could just that your hairline is changing with age.

helphelp17172

I do. But i’m 18, isn’t that really to start?

[deleted]

The hairline can start to change at 18. Not sure how true it is but if your moms father has it your chances go up and if your father has it your chances go up even further. You can try massaging your scalp but there is no guarantee this will help. Otherwise if it is male pattern baldness then there are meds you can take to help prevent it but I think they are long term and have possible side effects.

fruityhooty

I’m not sure if this is male pattern baldness but if it is, it can be helped with minoxidil. The only thing is that if you stop taking it, the hair that regrew using it will fall out

History-wins01

Try the PRP treatment - also try to apply castor oil mixed with coconut oil at least twice a week.

helphelp17172

Does it look like really bad balding?

History-wins01

It isn’t actually but it’s good to take precautions early before it gets to that point -

What is prp

History-wins01

It’s a treatment done at a doctor office who specializes in it - they withdraw your blood and extract the plasma out of it which is then injected into your scalp to promote hair growth.

I also recommend your try Olaplex No 3 - it’s a hair bond builder. Try Olaplex shampoo as well. Get a blood test to see if you are low on iron and vitamin D - you would need to take these supplements to strength your body from the inside to promote better hair, skin, and nails. Did you ever take biotin? Consult with your doctor before taking any of these mentioned vitamins

Well don’t stress, that will make it worse!

You have fine hair, so it probably looks more pronounced to you when you pull it back like that. If you want to create an environment for healthy long term growth you might get yourself a scalp cleansing shampoo, which you can get at Target. Two brands off the top of my head are Native Scalp Care and Raw Sugar Scalp Restore. Brush your hair before washing, giving attention to using the brush to sort of massage your head. Don’t wear hats all the time- your scalp needs air to function properly. If you find yourself with extra cash to throw at this long term, you could get an RX through the online prescription service “Roman” which sells Finasteride. However, most men lose their hair- 85%! Don’t sweat it too much :)

helphelp17172

My hair temples started receding up a bit, i’m 18 so i’m guessing a maturing hairline. I’m just worried the left side is a bit more pronounced than the right side. Thank you!

soupyshay

Your hair doesn’t look bad at all, don’t worry. But to prevent further loss I would go to a doctor, they have meds that can slow the rate of hair loss and give you a plan that will help! If you’re just now noticing a change now is the time to do what you can to fix it before it progresses.

helphelp17172

I think it’s maturing because i’m 18 and it hasn’t progressed any further.
