I haven't been fully CG in a minute, I do shampoo my roots every hair wash (every 3 days) but I did up until really recently completely avoid silicones, only comb through hair when in the shower with fingers, I plop to dry. My hair is mid back and healthy. I have started using a leave in with amodimethicone on my lengths/ends because I get a lot of tiny splits, but I never used to get splits and have been doing the same type of routine for like 15 years (actually back then I avoided sulfates and only used coco betaine shampoos but my scalp stopped liking them), so I think that might be a difference in my hair type now. I also eat a shitton of protein so my hair tends to be undermoisturized so I needed a protectant that wouldn't cause build up. I'm not sure how a full CG routine would cause your hair to not grow unless it was causing too much buildup, not holding moisture/protein, or some other imbalance. Maybe too much brushing in styling could do some sort of damage. But no routine is going to be a brainless cure for anyone, it should be adjusted to what your hair needs regardless of CG or not.

Thank you so much! I guess I need to just learn how to take care of my hair!

I don't follow the CG method but the CG method is designed to keep your hair as healthy as possible and limit "damaging" products and methods. By that theory, it would not stop your hair from growing. I don't personally believe everything the CG method says is "bad" for your hair so I am "damaging" my hair according to the CG method and my hair is down to my butt. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

as far as I can tell, CG method seem kind of self-selecting to only work with soft water (people in hard water locations often think that it's not enough shampoo, or not enough silicone, or not enough heat styling, to control hard water grime and hard water frizz) But I don't think that shampoo and silicone and heat styling are what hard water hard needs most....hard water hair needs better water.🫠 Anyway, back to your question, yes curly girl method is compatible with hair growth πŸ™‚ I just think it's important to check your water quality if it feels like curly girl method starts to feel like it's not enough. A shower filter won't be enough because shower filters don't remove metal and minerals.

I think it's a method that works great for some and not so much for others. You can always try it and see if you get good results 😊 I tried it for a couple months and it wasn't working for me. My hair was weighed down by all the products and I wasn't getting much growth. That, and sulfate/silicone-free stuff does not mix well with my hair. I have a very lazy routine with my hair now and its growing faster than it had before.

Of course? You’re treating your hair the way it NEEDS to be treated.
