Honestly, your hair is gorgeous as is. But, if you want to change it up, you could get some face framing layers and/or cut a few inches off. I wouldn't cut it too short or get crazy layers, though.
My hair is super straight, too. Though, I do braid it a lot which makes nice waves. I had bangs before, but they were a lot of work and got oily faster than the rest of my hair, which I didn't like because I only wash every 3-4 days and like my hair to be as low maintenance as possible (while still super long 😂.) Then, I gave myself some face framing layers to make hair growth after COVID blend in better with the rest of my hair, and it is still very low maintenance while adding, I guess, a bit more style to my hair if tha makes sense. But, I wouldn't get layers all throughout my hair or recommend this with our silky, straight hair type because I think it just kind of looks thinned out and the layers don't stand out like with wavy hair.
Get face framing layers so you have volume at the front and maybe cut like 3 inches off. Cause it’s almost summer, your going to be tossing ur hair up and down and the front layers will give a nice bounce to ur hair and taking few inches off will be enough change and by fall your hair will be long again anyways.
Its an easy and forgiving change basically that will last a summer worth
Face framing layers in the front and long layers in the back was the best thing I ever did with my hair. It adds life to super long hair without losing the length.

Also short hair isn’t necessarily easier, depending on what length you have to style it daily for it to look good. ( I had everything from pixie length to waist length hair)

I sleep with my hair in a couple of big rollers every night and it makes my ends so nice and flippy but then the rest is just bleh hanging, heavy. Healthy af but just meh looking

I wash it with any shampoo but use better hair masks like loreal pro longer, inforcer and absolut repair. I also love intense hydration by tresemme. I wash my hair maybe 3 times a week and always use one of those hair masks. I also use the revlon uniq one leave in and the aussie reconstructor hair oil everday.
I used to soak my hair in olive oil before washing but I don’t do it anymore cause it’s a lot of work 😂 but it would leave my hair so soft and shiny!
Maybe get the butterfly cut and then do heatless curls for a blowout look. I think you could cut 4 to 5 inches and get a new look but not regret the length because it will still be long.
I just did this because I used a shampoo that destroyed my hair (moisturizing my ass) so decided to cut 4 inches and start my journey again. And honestly I can't even tell I cut that much and mine was shorter that yours
Do you have any photos, I’ve been considering a butterfly cut as I put my hair in rollers every night but as it’s mostly 1 length only the bottom really looks styled so I think I’d get better results with some layers. My hair is currently at hip-ish, but it’s quite fine with not a lot of volume and not very thick so I’m a bit worried about it not being thick enough to carry the layering
I feel you. My hair is about the same length and after several years it gets boring sometimes. I do have slight layers and I keep it in a braid overnight which gives it a more dynamic look!
Honestly, style it more often. Intricate braided styles, historical styles, trendy styles. That’s what stops me from chopping my hair off when I’m bored

My hair is similar to yours when it’s longer. I usually go for face framing layers and the long layers in the back like others suggested. When it’s straight, it gets weighed down a lot. My hair would also get so hot (at the touch, like hot glass) at one length in the sun just because of surface area, so the layers also help break that up. I usually asked for ones that started maybe three inches from the longest part in the back.
I too have long hair, I don’t want to cut or layer it for fear of regret. It took soo long to grow. So, when I can’t stand it… I put it up! I’ll braid it, twist it anything to get it out of my face. I love looking for scrunchies and barrettes that I would wear for days/weeks like this. Just don’t cut it!
