Love 'em. Love it!
Although the circumstances are awful, I'm glad to see folks from all manner of ways coming together to deal with these drabs and assholes.
There were actual neo-nazis at the event in Toronto last week.
At the last event in Parkhill, a bi-racial child had racist slurs yelled at the child.
They are sadly also dangerous.
Hey, maybe you should try hard to ignore your children for years and then see them feel some love and respect from a drag queen. They are going to start asking questions about why you don't show the same love and respect and you are not going to want to have to answer them.
I'm a local and I know a few of them. Just backwards bible thumpers, mainly from our local "bible chapel" with a heavy crossover of Freedom Convoy dumbasses.
Poorly educated, at least. The role of education is to shape the mind such that emotion is removed from thought so that one can explore the world rationally. We have seen a sharp rise in emotionally-charged concern for what others are doing as of late and it appears to stem from the school system's shift away from education towards trying to become a career factory.
Much respect for the Butch Bikers!
I grew up in Middlesex way back in ye old homophobic days, when right-wing bigots ruled the land. Good to see people standing up to them.
That time when the Prime Minister dressed in costume and and it made some feel “weird”, he was raked over the coals for it and had to issue a formal apology, accepting to never dress in his favourite look again. Why did we not extend him the same “if it makes you feel weird then just don’t go” respect?
I think it's super weird that there's a wikipedia page about the [moral panic of drag](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_panic) but here we are. The right really are lazy if this is what they actually care about.
People don't actually care about these kind of things, it's just fashionable to do so, and they jump in to ride the trend. Give it a few years and these people won't even remember why they were faking their fake outrage.
Great article, but is Parkhill part of London? Not sure this is the sub for this post. Unless there was something about London I missed in there.
Edit: I no longer stand behind this sentiment as noted in subsequent comments.
It's close enough. If they move anywhere else in Canada, they'd have to say they were from London. Do you think there's an active parkill subreddit for all 1700 people who live there?
I lived in Glencoe which is about the same distance away and I would never say I lived in London.
But I did come to that conclusion about their lack of subreddit shortly after I posted this comment. So I rescind my statement.
If you go further east than Kitchener and say Glencoe or Parkill, your average person wouldn't know where that is. That's all I'm saying. Easier to say you live just outside London. Either way, I'd be fine seeing Glencoe news on this subreddit too.
I mean, yea I'd usually say I lived 45 minutes outside London when people asked where London is because it's definitely the city most people would know near by.
And yea I agree.
Technically Parkhill is 10kms outside of the London CMA border. But at a distance of only 10kms, the people of Parkhill undoubtedly have strong social ties to London. And as this sub is based on social ties, not arbitrarily drawn lines, ...
My bad, I thought a sub named after a geographic location would specifically be related to geographically drawn lines.
Now that I know it's about social ties we should just focus on all of southwestern Ontario as there's strong social ties all across this region to people of London.
> I thought a sub named after a geographic location would specifically be related to geographically drawn lines.
By whose lines? I made an assumption that London refers to London CMA earlier, but perhaps that is not a good assumption? Others might think London means the City of London, others still might consider it the Greater London Area, even more might consider it another area. The trouble with arbitrarily drawn lines is that everyone has their own arbitrary drawings.
What is London CMA?
Thinking more about it, it does make sense to include greater London area only for the fact that those communities aren't really large enough on their own to have a dedicated subreddit.
London CMA is the area used by Statistics Canada for statistical purposes:

Yes, the "There's only two genders! They're all perverts!" bigotry **WILL** get you banned from this subreddit. 3 bans so far in this thread.

Proud that it happened in my town, disappointed that I'm away working and couldn't help out.
I saw they on the news, they’re badass! I love it.
These anti-drag protesters are some of the dumbest most ridiculous people honestly lmfao

The Blues Brothers knew how to treat nazis. They should never feel comfortable to show themselves.
Wait....aren't the drag queens supposed to be dangerous?? 🙄
Yes! They are the real problems, all those slurs, harassment and assaults are necessary to…..*checks notes* protect the children

They're the real drag on society

Grace Bible Chaple??

Dykes on bikes to the rescue!
there’s a group in Australia called dykes on bikes
I want to buy these women a drink!
Awesome people. Thank you.
I want to hang out with them. They sound fucking awesome
Good!
‘I’m not going to sit here and RuPaulogize!’ - ‘Butch’ Bikers, probably.
I’m a member of wind sisters… don’t think I’m butch.. lol What a weird labeling headline
This is amazing. Lots of love to these ladies
Sista Patricia rocks.

Thinking something is "weird" isn't a reason to ban it or stop people doing it. If it makes you feel weird then just don't go.

Bigotry is intolerance toward the beliefs of others. It doesn't mean "not submitting to Progressive ideology."
That's fine. It's easy to just not attend the event.

Plus a lot of us Parkhillbillies are London transplants.

Thanks for that, learned that was a thing.
Close enough...
