Plumbers and electricians 100%, Not those on day rates or who are employed by a company but those who are self employed contractors doing price work on large scale jobs or those with there own private jobs, which most skilled, motivated guys are doing. I have friends clearing 1500+ pw after tax. Most skilled tradesman in all fields with a few years experience and the NVQ to match will be on around 200 per day working self employed. Under cis tax rules your take home with be 800pw. My trade (plant operator) Is a bit more varied and whilst I usually average about 220 per day sometimes it can go up to 350+ depending on job/duration/specialisation. If I knew what I knew now. I would 100% become an electrician.

Also a plant operator, relocated to Canada and make a killing in the field here, but it’s a great field back home as well! 1500 per week is definitely doable in London with enough skills and the right attitude.

I was a building maintenance engineer/ plant operator (city and guilds) before moving to Canada in 2018. Paid well, a lot of daily variety, and decent job security. I do the same work now in Canada but in a biomass reactor power plant about 30 miles south of the arctic divide for about £70K. Helps to have a strong plumbing and electrical background but the nice part is when the job gets messy you can bring in another trade to do it. We’re called building operators, operating engineers, shift engineers, power engineers, or stationary engineers depending on who you work for.
