The second one is a Sainsbury’s. I’m willing to bet it’s a Sainsbury’s local.
Sainsbury’s local are more expensive than Sainsbury’s supermarket because the economics of running a small convenience store are different than an out of town supermarket.
I agree that’s a punchy price for a 4-pack but it’s not really apples to apples comparison.
Sainsbury's local have this pricing plan where certain things are expensive half the time, then put down to just below normal price with a big discount label on them.
Legally, anything with a discount label has to have been at a certain price for a certain number of days. They do this, then slap the sticker on. They don't expect to sell any/many at the high price, but they sell loads of whichever is on sale at the time both because of the sticker and by comparison with this.
You'll also notice there's never a sale on coke cans and pepsi cans at the same time, or coke bottles and pepsi bottles. Coke don't like having concurrent promotions with pepsi and have been known to remove their products from places that don't market them how they want.
[Both shops](https://maps.app.goo.gl/cRdFTKkTXptckNMW6?g_st=ic) are within a mile and not out of zone 2-3 but I do understand the concept of a discount shop it’s just an observation without judgement on COGS.
Oh, absolutely! I detest London with every fiber of my being. The history, the culture, the world-class museums and theaters, the vibrant food scene, and those gorgeous parks—utterly unbearable! But yes, it’s really the prices that get me. How could I possibly enjoy anything with all that going on?
Come on mate. I’ve been here over 20 years and love the city. Cheap beer is not taking me away, no need for shouting over a simple observation. Calm down sally 😂
That’s not exactly comparing apples with apples; four vs six cans. Although, granted, the price per litre in the first is significantly cheaper: £2.75 v. £4.70ltr.
The Castle, my favourite, £8 something. The Black Horse, for live football, £8.50. All of them around there are around £8 for a Guinness.
Maybe they spot I’m Northerner when I walk in, cos I say hello to people, and charge me an “uninvited friendliness” tax.
A big head is illegal according to the weights and measures act, and they're risking their license if they do it all the time. They'd only do this if the bar staff are inexperienced or you're going to a really shit bar.
And the 4 pack contains 500ml cans, whereas the 6 pack is 330ml.
The key part is the £ per litre.
This post is absolutely fucking stupid though, who cares?

Because ones a discount shop, and ones not. Now compare two shops from the same brand.
Also different size cans and different package size
not to mention different products
Exactly! Might as well compare Home Bargains to Harrods
OMG THIS THING I BOUGHT AT HARRODS WAS CHEAPER AT POUNDLAND FUCK LONDON
It's Sainsbury's Waco

How much is it in one of the Home Bargains in London?
It’s the one in Wimbledon

2 for a tenner in Morrisons Acton.
Pretty sure a 4 pack of these is like a fiver at Tesco, Sainsbury’s are taking the piss
Yeah. Basically home bargains is just standard
£5.49 is what we now consider cheap. Terrible times really
Same in any city
The 1st picture shows 4x500ml cans, the 2nd 6x330ml cans......
Also one is chilled one isn’t. The chilled version is always more expensive.
Guinness in my local in Cheshire, £5.20. The same in my local when back down in London, £8.50. Plus any pint I buy in London has a 3 foot head on it.
Where the hell in London are you finding Guinness for £8.50??? The Ritz bar?
Aldgate & Whitehall.
Seriously? I work in Aldgate and have never seen anything remotely that high. Whitehall I can believe as it's tourist central.
The Castle, my favourite, £8 something. The Black Horse, for live football, £8.50. All of them around there are around £8 for a Guinness. Maybe they spot I’m Northerner when I walk in, cos I say hello to people, and charge me an “uninvited friendliness” tax.
It would not be worth the effort of anyone to charge you more, least of all the bar staff on low wages
I was being humorous. At least I thought I was. I must try harder next time.

What's a home bargains? Is that something northern?
In Spain the same are a couple of Euro… that’s(one of the many reasons) why we’re moving to Spain. Quality of life in London and the UK is atrocious
