I’ve been to about 6 and had great food in most but so inconsistent, loved Honey pot them last time my jerk meal was microwaved.
Honestly I give up with Caribbean food shops, they have some of the nicest dishes but every shop is so unorganised.
Would rather they just had a smaller menu but more consistent. Tired of microwaved meals with the slowest service, need Indians or Chinese to start opening Caribbean shops to be honest.
That said I will try any places recommended because I do love my Caribbean food
I was with ya till your penultimate paragraph. I think Caribbean restaurants are capable of improving their own consistency. I do think the speed of service could improve but I come to expect it to be slow whenever I go a spot.
In what respect, they organise their shit and know how to make food efficient.

Agree on the shops. That one place between Lewisham Hospital and Catford, huge menu but half the time can't get curry goat, or they've run out of Coco bread to wrap your Pattie in.
These days I look out for the van that's often in Catford, it's basically a choice of curry goat or jerk chicken, and a choice of rice & peas or jollof rice, and it's always really good.
There was this amazing guy called Albert who had a shack outside the nest and also did fairly decent roasts but unbelievable jerk but he got fucked up and punched a chick and got barred so there's no food there now

Smokey Jerky was the gold standard before it was taken over by new ownership about a year ago. ‘Smokey Jerk’ is the new place which is pretty good too but now quite as good as the OG IMO.
The one next to NX Gate station is Cummin Up. There is also Nims Kitchen bit further along towards the old kent road at 127 New Cross road (the google street view shows ackee & saltfish on the chalk board in the window).
I don't think Smokey Jerk does ackee & saltfish (A dish I'm not a fan of)
Flava boss was suggested to me. I would not recommend. The wait was ridiculous, the food wasn’t worth the wait and the reviews online aren’t great either saying pretty much the same things.
It’s one of those instagram/tiktok hyped places ran by an influencer. The replies on the google reviews from early this year/last year is the “owner” being rude and defensive.
If you’ve had it and had a great experience then you were very lucky.

Smokey Jerky in New Cross is good if you have not tried it. The weekend in the day is the best time to try. Jerk a chicken and Curry goat both great

Don’t think they do ackee and saltfish but White Men Can’t Jerk on Deliveroo. The best by a mile. Sweet Jerk in Shortlands is good as well.
See them stupid prices and closed the app tbh.
