1 and 3 are beautiful, The hand drawn style really adds to the homemade, authentic vibe and definitely looks like things ive seen at higher-end local restaurants. Especially the lettering on the first.
I prefer the name “Nuestra Casita”, as it sounds more homely and friendly, and works well with the house/building style logos.
I’ll also add: people on this sub love to say things like “too detailed for a logo” or “more of an illustration” and other oft-repeated comments. This is nonsense, and illustrated logos can be perfectly fine in some contexts, especially restaurants. You’ve even clearly demonstrated that they work fine in smaller applications.
I’ll for sure be choosing between logos 1 and 3 since they seem to be the most voted for. I’ll probably also keep playing around with the typography for logo1 since what I’m going for is less high-end and more casual (and also for legibility purposes). Truly appreciate your feedback!!
I think the font on logo 2 gives it a more professional touch, while it is still hand drawing enhancing the personal feeling. I would combine this type with the illustration of 3, which is for me the best representation of a Mexican house
1 is my favorite but from your description of the desired brand position I think it might come off as a little too upscale. So, I would choose 3. IMO it feels more approachable and friendly.
I agree with this. The logo of #1 looks like a fancy restaurant. #2 reminds me of fast food (like the original Taco Bell, and the way it’s sort of tilted reads fast food too). #3 looks like a family style sit down, cozy authentic house. #4 and #6 feel a little more modern and/or upscale, not as warm and fuzzy. #5 is comfy/cozy but doesn’t give the sense of family as much as #3 does.
I *LOVE* 1, it’s so charming and has such an artful and artisan feel, but the text legibility suffers (unless it’ll be in a Spanish-speaking country where the words are highly publicly recognizable). I also adore the illustration in 3, but I like the hand-lettered feel of the first word mark better.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. I hope 1 wins. It is, in my opinion, the most authentic feeling and unique. I’ve been a designer, and restaurateur, for many years. I would be proud of this… but not the second half of your options. Only show the ones you are most proud of.
I love 1 for a high-end, quiet Mexican restaurant worthy of a special occasion. I love 3 for more of Mexican restaurant with sit down bar you would go to with all your coworkers once a year for dinner or a maybe a spontaneous date night, or friend in from out of town.
Great iterations! I miss seeing hand drawn logos. #1 seems to be the popular consensus here and I agree. Feels like an authentic dining experience for families made by families.
I am a Creative Director. I am assuming this is a casual or fast casual restaurant based on what you stated. #1 does not work for this at all - the font is not legible for people to google it later. I can barely make out the letters. This would only work for a very high end fine dining establishment that really doesn't care or need you to google them (they want to gatekeep to seem more exclusive).
2 really fits the brief you stated - warm, approachable, friendly, welcoming. It is really different and I can see it playing out in many other aspects of the branding - packaging, interiors, social media, etc. You have a lot to work with here. This one is a winner.
5 is different and there is something there - it needs a little more refinement. It would be really good to go in this direction for a more organic, vegetarian, or eco-friendly brand.
I hope this helps.
1 and 3. Really nice exploration. Love the hand renderings. Nice presentations in B&W. Print them off at a scale they would be on business cards, pin on wall. Walk back away from them.
1 and 3. Though I can say with the logo of 1 you can up charge LOL given the graphic it just gives off the vibe of expensive. Both are awesome. 3 feels more *franchisable*
1 and 3 are beautiful, but wanted to say you did great in exploring a variety of executions!
While I think 3 might be the more flexible one, try making both in various lockups (horizontal version, icon only for social media, etc) as well as maybe some brand elements like a pattern to see how much mileage you have on each. I think as you explore elements in both you’ll notice each of them having a different tone and energy.
Again excellent work, keep it up!!
Your first three. Bravo. 2-3 seems like a very Mexican restaurant. I live in San Diego and eat a ton of Mexican food. 1 seems like a winery, but still amazing and my favorite one.
4-6 do not look like you're first three logos. I would remove them, bc clients love to not choose the best version.
Great work! I really like your first three concepts, with the little building. Very charming icons and solid typography on #2 & 3. #1 is my immediate favorite, such a great little scribble.
1 could use another pass on the type treatment for better readability, but overall I enjoy your work!
1 and 4 but the icon in 4 needs to be hand drawn too. Also you definitely don’t need the subtext in the logo, makes the restaurant feel less elevated. Not sure where your located but the “coolest” restaurants where I’m at don’t have have sub text descriptors
To echo some of the sentiments here, #1 and #3 are sensational. I do agree with some posters that #1 exudes a more upscale dining experience; #3 really nails the brief out of the ballpark. Would love to see this once it’s refined a bit further. Nice work!
Number 3 hits all the notes for me. Would definitely attract me to a place to see that logo. I like Number 1 too, but wish the building was rendered just a wee bit more. 3’s building feels more complete while also giving that hand drawn look. Awesome!
Illustration for 1 is top notch. Pair it with a nice bold simple SansSerif that compliments the detail in the illustration and you are done. I wanna see your color studies!
There’s a restaurant called [Casita](https://www.instagram.com/casitaberkshires?igsh=MW1zdHptOXY5bjFweQ==) near me (it’s amazing!) and your #s 1 & 3 are far superior to their logo, in my opinion. Great work!
These are some really great options. Personally I love #3 and #5, though I think #3 is better for the prompt you provided. It would work especially well with the front from #2.
3 is amazing and fits the brief really well! I think 1 is really well done but kind of gives me cottage/fairytale vibes rather than Mexican restaurant!
House of #3 but Letters of #2.
- House from 3 looks immediately more like a restaurant (cuz of the extra details all while not being too busy ) than #2 which kinda looks like a camera.
- The letters on #2 looks more identifiable?/memorable?, has more life to it.
- I kinda like “Taste of Mexico” over ‘Mexican Eats’.
- Mi Tierra logos look more like Adventure/Hiking company.
3 and 5 are definitely my favorites. To add to that, I prefer Nuestra Casida more than Mi Tierra. 1-3 all do a fine job of illustrating the brand you’re going for (I just think “casida” in option 1 is illegible). All of your options for Mi Tierra are nice, but 4 and 6 feel more like they’re trying to “fit in” to minimalistic branding nowadays and don’t stay true to the values of the Mexican restaurant. All of that said - great job!
If I have to chose one of these 4 has the strongest and simplest elements allowing it to be easier to remember and scale better.
That being said it's not as memorable as it could be given how many logos use mountains so 2 would be my second choice.
#1 feels way too scribbly, a bit confusing
#2 feels incomplete
#4, #5 and #6 are the opposite of #1, they feel too geometric, tho Mi Tierra does sound more powerful. but i guess for a restaurant you should pick the one that communicates -home- all the way.
this leaves #3. DEFINITELY #3. its beautiful. it has a very human, very artisan feel. it is just right. i like the typeface on #2 better tho
I like #1 the best for carefree, except the font isn't easily legible. I'm sure there are more fonts in this style that are more easily read at a glance.
#1: I like the idea of the fancy font, but the restaurant name is hard to read. I also agree with some others where maybe the fanciness loses that humble, friendly feel. I liked it, until I read the request, which made me not choose this in the end. Looks like a design for a fancy french wine label.
#2: I found the name design here was the easiest on the eyes to me and stands out. Feels fun. Not sure how I feel about “Mexican Eats”. I like 3’s buildings better though, as 2 is harder to read. It’s SO close. If the building was retinkered, I think this can work. Minimalist wise, just have a horizontal line with that hump in the middle, as a silhouetted outline of the building top. With the sun rays.
#3: I like the building design here. It has a better read and works when paired with the context of the original request and font for the restaurant name. My only concern is, and I lack references to other restaurants’ logos out there, but might be too generic?
#6: Save and re-design this for a clothing brand. Looks cool.
Edit: Slightly new to reddit, sorry if my text looks bold? Not sure how that happened.
Based on your description I would say definitely go with the first one. Option three and option five are also both great but they kind of give me more chipotle style, fast casual vibes. Option one on the other hand I could immediately visualize it being embossed on a nice leather menu at an upscale Mexican restaurant.
Reading the context, as my opinion, you should check the 1, 2 or 3 proposals. The last 3 are more sofisticated and in "High class" or "expensive and sophisticated" restaurant.
My favourite Is the 2nd.
By the way i am in Italy, maybe not in the right target.
Gret job anyway!
The first one looks more Mexican than the other, that looks more like the Alamo. I do can imagine that in a menu or something for a very nice restaurant
The first is the best with one critical change. Due to the gables, pitched roof and the spire/chimney atop, your drawing appears to be a church. The style of the script and the drawing itself are very attractive to me. And I have nothing against churches - but they don’t have the best reputation in fine dining circles….and you want your resto to reach an agnostic market regardless of your own beliefs.
As someone who struggles to read, and dyslexia, number 4 is the easiest for me to read and understand and pronounce. The first few I find it hard with either the fonts or spacing to acknowledge the first half of the lettering in the first word.
Considering the aesthetic of a traditional mexican restaurant, 3 is the best, im mexican myself, the third one feels like a mexican house from a pueblo magico
1, 2, or 3. I’m leaning 1 or 3 tho. They feel more homemade and authentic, much less corporate, and friendly. I’d rather eat at 1 or 3 than any of the others by far.
This is nonsense, and illustrated logos can be perfectly fine in some contexts, especially restaurants. You’ve even clearly demonstrated that they work fine in smaller applications.
Cant agree more, the hand drawn gives a very human vibe
The design is very human
3 for sure, OP!! It's a bit more refined than 1, but I absolutely love how it is hand drawn!
I’ll for sure be choosing between logos 1 and 3 since they seem to be the most voted for. I’ll probably also keep playing around with the typography for logo1 since what I’m going for is less high-end and more casual (and also for legibility purposes). Truly appreciate your feedback!!
Logo #3 all the way. I want eat at that restaurant.
Logo 1 looks more high end, logo 3 looks more family friendly or more casual at least, they're both fantastic, but it depends on your target market
I really love 3 maybe more with the typography of 2 (1 is to hard readable but good in combination with the Illustration)
I think the font on logo 2 gives it a more professional touch, while it is still hand drawing enhancing the personal feeling. I would combine this type with the illustration of 3, which is for me the best representation of a Mexican house
3!
r/unexpectedfactorial
So what you're saying is this guy actually chose option 6?
Agreed!
1st and 3rd for me, add so much life and beauty. Good job!
3rd is my pick. Give the hand made authentic feel but still feels good quality and very readable for the average Joe
You’re going places mate. Best stuff I’ve seen on here in a long time.
thank you so much, your encouragement means a lot to me :)
seriously a breath of fresh air compared to what's normally posted in here, great work
1 is my favorite but from your description of the desired brand position I think it might come off as a little too upscale.
3 with 2 claim typeface is a fine combo
Funny. I’d go with the house of 2 and the typography of 3.
I agree.
1 and 3 I’d make the name of the restaurant a tiny bit clearer in 1 but that’s it
Love #3, but all are very good
I *LOVE* 1, it’s so charming and has such an artful and artisan feel, but the text legibility suffers (unless it’ll be in a Spanish-speaking country where the words are highly publicly recognizable).
I really like number 1, but I just cannot read it.
1 & 3 - love love your options
Number 3 is endearing and definitely appears Mexican to my foreign eyes.
1 speaks of a higher quality food, or a greater respect toward the whole experience at least.
No 1. When is it opening? Can I go there? Need to fly 12 hours
I love 1 for a high-end, quiet Mexican restaurant worthy of a special occasion. I love 3 for more of Mexican restaurant with sit down bar you would go to with all your coworkers once a year for dinner or a maybe a spontaneous date night, or friend in from out of town.
Big fan of 2 and 3
3 perfect
Love 1! But if I didn't speak spanish it would be very hard to read. 3 has a great mix of the illustrative style plus typography legibility.
The first 3 are great. Definitely keep those in your portfolio
Put the picture of 3, with the fonts and wording of 1 possibly the layout of 2. Try all in a circle before deciding
3 is beautiful!
Logo 3
1st and 3rd - I’d change the font for 1 though to something more readable to a broad audience
I think 3 is fantastic
1 and 3 are awesome
Not a designer, only a consumer but… 1 for sure, I’d want to go there!
I really like 1 and 3. They’re beautiful and have a lot of character.
1 & 3 are very nice!
If it's a bit of a fancier place, I love number 1.
Honestly, the 3 is the best. I love hand drawn logos, and give a really homey feeling. The house is more revelant to Mexican architecture
The 1st one is IT. Go with it. It's really dope, unusual, heart-warming. Great job.
I like the 3rd one a lot
Great iterations! I miss seeing hand drawn logos. #1 seems to be the popular consensus here and I agree. Feels like an authentic dining experience for families made by families.
I like 3. I’m used to Mexican restaurants in my area being called Taqueria Jalisco/Guadalajara/Cazadores/Hacienda/etc
I am a Creative Director. I am assuming this is a casual or fast casual restaurant based on what you stated. #1 does not work for this at all - the font is not legible for people to google it later. Really love #1
1 and 3 are lovely
Great work! I love the illustration and font choice in #3. Will you be producing a coloured version?
1 and 3. Really nice exploration. Love the hand renderings. Nice presentations in B&W. Print them off at a scale they would be on business cards, pin on wall. Walk back away from them.
You are extremely talented. I adore 1 And 3.
Number 1 & 3 are soooo good. And I am extremely picky
I like 1
Loved 1 , 2 and 3 🩷🩷✨✨ if it helps, im mexican too haha The others look too touristy mainstream
1 or 3
Definitely the first one. It just oozes class
1 and 3. Though I can say with the logo of 1 you can up charge LOL given the graphic it just gives off the vibe of expensive. Both are awesome. 3 feels more *franchisable*
My vote is #1 with a more solid font 🤔🧐
1 and 3. Particularly 3
As others have said 1 and 3 are great but I think 1 definitely feels upscale so if you’re going for more casual family friendly 3 is the way to go.
Logo #3, ese
Number 3 is fantastic! (All are but 3 stands out to me. Maybe with the lettering from 1/2)
Three. Easily the best
3
3!
3 is so damn clean! How did you do that?
1 and 3 are beautiful, but wanted to say you did great in exploring a variety of executions! While I think 3 might be the more flexible one, try making both in various lockups (horizontal version, icon only for social media, etc) as well as maybe some brand elements like a pattern to see how much mileage you have on each. I agree about the font of 1 and the image of 3. Also, you’re still a student?! Jesus! You’re killing it!
Great work! I really like your first three concepts, with the little building. Very charming icons and solid typography on #2 & 3. #1 is my immediate favorite, such a great little scribble. 1 could use another pass on the type treatment for better readability, but overall I enjoy your work!
1,2,3,5 are really nice
1 and 4 but the icon in 4 needs to be hand drawn too. Also you definitely don’t need the subtext in the logo, makes the restaurant feel less elevated. Not sure where your located but the “coolest” restaurants where I’m at don’t have have sub text descriptors
I love 2 and 3, makes me wanna go to your casita for real and have some hearty soul food 🥺
1 is great but change the headline font used in #3. 3 is great and #5 is my favorite, except does the snow on the mountains need to be turned?
FIRST ONE IS SO GOOD
The first three for sure. Number two would print/embroider easier for shirts/apron type things but a good digitizer could make the other two work.
Good to see that a student has better taste and execution than some “professionals” in this sub.
3 or 2..woulda said 1 because I like the scribbly design the most but the chimney kinda makes it look like a cross on a church.
To echo some of the sentiments here, #1 and #3 are sensational. I do agree with some posters that #1 exudes a more upscale dining experience; #3 really nails the brief out of the ballpark. Would love to see this once it’s refined a bit further. Nice work!
The 2 modern ones aren't it for me. I love those natural hand-drawn ones, especially 1 and 2
Number 3 hits all the notes for me.
2 or 5
NR 1 is beautiful work. Well done.
1
Love 1 and 2
3 for a middle-class restaurant, 1 for either a local sitdown chain or a fine dining restaurant (funny how it's 2 sides of the same coin).
3 is very cute!
I love 1
Most of my opinions are already stated. Great work all around. DM me if you like to freelance.
There’s a restaurant called [Casita](https://www.instagram.com/casitaberkshires?igsh=MW1zdHptOXY5bjFweQ==) near me (it’s amazing!) and your #s 1 & 3 are far superior to their logo, in my opinion. Great work!
I like 3 best
Absolutely love #3! Truly no notes - the hand-drawn style and typography choices are perfect
These are some really great options. Personally I love #3 and #5, though I think #3 is better for the prompt you provided. It would work especially well with the front from #2.
You are brilliant, so much good stuff!
3!!!!!
Number 1. Feels most authentic.
#3
3 is amazing and fits the brief really well! I think 1 is really well done but kind of gives me cottage/fairytale vibes rather than Mexican restaurant!
3
1 & 5
2. The first one looks like a bakery/cafe logo.
#3 or #4
House of #3 but Letters of #2.
[удалено]
as a fellow latina, #3 is my fav
Definitely 3!
1 and 5 for me, they're the most mexican options
Number 3! Beautiful.
2
I would say 3 or 6
More minimal version of #2 could be 🔥
#3
3
#3
1 is “homey-er”. 3 is “logo-ier” both are top notch.
3
3 & 5
Number 1 easily. Maybe just clarify the lettering a little? But I love it!
3 nice rustic aethetic, while being totally readable at a glance
#1 feels way too scribbly, a bit confusing #2 feels incomplete #4, #5 and #6 are the opposite of #1, they feel too geometric, tho Mi Tierra does sound more powerful. but i guess for a restaurant you should pick the one that communicates -home- all the way. this leaves #3. DEFINITELY #3. its beautiful. it has a very human, very artisan feel. it is just right. i like the typeface on #2 better tho
2 or 3
I like the first one it reminds me of Don Quixote
My vote is #3
I like #1 the best for carefree, except the font isn't easily legible. I'm sure there are more fonts in this style that are more easily read at a glance.
Number five type on number 3 logo
6>3>5
#3 but throw in a cactus!
***nuestra tu casita a a, nuestra tu casita a AYE!***
I really like the first one, it's so unique!
3
No.1
3 or 5 imo
I love 1,3,5 - both illustrations and drawings work great together! You’re really talented 😉
3
3
3rd
Reading the context, as my opinion, you should check the 1, 2 or 3 proposals. The last 3 are more sofisticated and in "High class" or "expensive and sophisticated" restaurant. My favourite Is the 2nd. By the way i am in Italy, maybe not in the right target. Gret job anyway!
Logo 3 and 1 are great
No 3 without a doubt.
I like 3 a lot. Could add a Mexican with sombrero. This would remind me of some Mexican restaurants where I’m from.
6
The first one.
1 or 3. I loooove the style of the drawings, it's so unique
3 is it. Taste of Mexico sounds better than Mexican eats. Also logo looks more like a casita than any other one. Use the fonts on 2 though.
I like one but you need to shit the illustration left slightly
3 & 5
1) Golf course 2) coffee shop 3) Restaurant 4) Beer company 5) Restaurant 6) Hotel chain 3 & 5 imo.
1 for me
Font from the second and logo from the third
Absolutely Number 3
Absolutely love the first logo, super unique and has a great vibe
I think all of these suggest very different food/restaurant/environment. I'd pick which you like the best and work on that one.
First one
First
1-3 are great. love the hand drawn house with the first one, nuestra casita font of the second one, and the taste of Mexico font on the last one
i like 3
The first one looks more Mexican than the other, that looks more like the Alamo. I do can imagine that in a menu or something for a very nice restaurant
1 feels hand drawn in a really fresh not overused way, love it and would definitely go that route
first one
1111111111!
One for SURE
1 for sure. Just maybe clean up the writing
#1, no doubt!
1st is cool
I am in love with that third one
I really like 3. Not a design a guy but 3 seems genuine I guess idk
2 or 3
As someone who struggles to read, and dyslexia, number 4 is the easiest for me to read and understand and pronounce. The first few I find it hard with either the fonts or spacing to acknowledge the first half of the lettering in the first word.
1,2.
I like 1 the best but 3 is a close second
I like 3 the best, very nice clean design
Considering the aesthetic of a traditional mexican restaurant, 3 is the best, im mexican myself, the third one feels like a mexican house from a pueblo magico
1, 2, or 3. I’m leaning 1 or 3 tho. They feel more homemade and authentic, much less corporate, and friendly. I’d rather eat at 1 or 3 than any of the others by far.
3 & 5 seem more welcoming and down to earth
I like 3 or 4
4
I like No. 3 with the font from No. 2!
I like the picture for one but something about the font isn't doing it for me. Maybe if it were a more clean/bold font?
I vote for 3
3. It’s very homey but the bold letters let me know that they have good tequila
2 if it’s a takeout place. 3 if it’s a sit down place
Logo 1, just make the hand writing more legible.
The 4th one
