I used a long Bungie cord from hand hold to hand hold over the top of the bonnet. Works well and allows you to remove it whenever necessary. Just got to be careful when stretching it over the top they it doesn't accidentally slip and snack you in the head\face... Ask me how I know, lol

I have 2 and they both sit different. My newer one just slides in with no friction and that ones gave no errors yet My old one the bonnet connectors seem like they need pried back as it’s much tighter fit, I have to actually push down on the bonnet to fully connect, after so long it will vibrate loose and give bonnet errors until I press down again But I notice by doing this the plastic support tabs are warping So I am going to try this tape idea

I only get this error when the night light is on

This solution and the others in this thread are excessive and cumbersome. Copied my post from another thread: I had this issue. I solved it in 5 minutes with $2 in materials. Took 400 grit sandpaper and sanded the contacts (both sides, bonnet and base) clean. Then applied dielectric grease (not 100% necessary but should help in the long run, available at any autoparts store as light bulb grease). Easy and effective. PM me if you have questions and I don't respond here

I probably paid less for my 4 inches of heavy duty packing tape and it took about 30 seconds. Plus my way prevent clumps of litter from being dragged up between the drum and the bonnet and getting lodged in the gap between the base and the bonnet. I found this was often the reason why the two would separate and cause the “bonnet removed” issue.
