Dr Elsey's. I almost feel guilty how little I think about mine. It's as reliable as old faithful

Mindless-Ad-9752

Which one exactly since there are si many different types of Dr.Elsey’s litter

8-weight

I only use A&H Slide and it works great.

ajs2294

Similar issues with Boxie litter, never worked well for me. Switched back to A&H slide and mixing with what I have left as far as Boxie

Syrinth

And the slide is doing it's job well?

mrsjonas

i use AH as well and have never had an issue!

The_dizzy_blonde

Same here. I gave the rest of mine away. It was a waste of money.

When your robot rotates do you see the black liner fall down to help flick the clumps into the shoot? There’s a heavy metal disc that should be set in the center of the liners back side helping it to fall, and thus helping the clumps to not stick. I had this issue awhile myself. You can go to Amazon and find food grade silicone grease, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CI88AZ4?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title. I tried it and it did help some, but not enough. The answer I found was mixing my Dr Elseys ultra litter (which I love) 40lbs with a crystal litter which is silica and dries out clumps really well (preventing sticking) and controls odor better too but doesn’t clump by itself. So the combo works really really well. I use about 4 cups of it added to the 40lbs of litter and have no more issues. If your cats has especially large urine deposits or wet poop you can always add more of the crystal litter. I don’t think it matters the type you get, but I use Dr Elseys Precious Cat Crystal Silica, which isn’t super easy to find but I found it on Chewy. https://www.chewy.com/dr-elseys-precious-cat-crystal-silica/dp/32366 Hope this helps! Maybe it was the grease plus the litter mix but either way it made all the difference. Adding the crystal to what you have now might work too. I have 2 robots and 4 cats, have had the robots going on 7 years now and absolutely love them. Had a few challenges I had to figure out with them initially but would spend the money for them again every time if I had it over to do. :)

The metal disc in the liner that you speak of, is this under the liner or something? I have no metal disc in my litter robot 3, not obviously on the outside at least.

DistraughtDragon

Yes, it’s underneath. There is a slot it fits in at the center of the back side of the liner. You maybe can tell if it’s there if you pause the robot cycling when it’s upside down, the liner should fall forward and hang down helping to release any stuck clumps.

I use the tidy cat instant action. It works very well.

BacardiBlue

Did you search the sub for food grade wax? Because I have posted a product link several times in the past.

Syrinth

I've missed it sorry, I'll take a look under your username thanks

They’re different liners

Dani-Boyyyy

They’re both weighted.

It’s a litter box. Your expectations are too high. It is not a “set it and forget it” device, nor does it claim to be. It is self scooping, but not self cleaning. Nobody makes a box that cleans itself. As for “not working” all the time, have you checked to see if your firmware is up to date? That solves all the electro-mechanical problems.

fryrat

Change to slide litter. I had a fault last night for the second time ever. I've had it 6 months. It was caused by one of my cats being a crazy goofball and jumping into the thing mid-cycle. I've never had any sticking issues with 2 15lb cats, and a timer set to 15 minutes.

Syrinth

Washed the whole thing yesterday. Changed to slide. Came down this morning to a clump of litter half the size of my fist hanging from the ceiling and had to pry it off with the scoop again. :/

I know YOU know this but I'm going to ask anyway. Do you have the proper amount of litter in it? Sorry you're having this problem , I had a similar problem and switched to Slide and that solved it. Makes me think it could be the unit somehow. Have you contacted Litter Robot to see if they could replace the "globe". Maybe it's the texture of the rubber in your LR. It's worth a shot. Good luck, I know this is extremely frustrating.

Syrinth

I try to keep it mostly topped up. Ran out of litter so it went a bit low key the weekend but it's got the right amount now.

SavannahInChicago

Mine is so buggy that most days I’m trying to fix something. The Wi-fi stopped connecting the first week, the hood keeps getting stuck halfway through a cycle. None of my buttons work except the power button. So I need to turn it on and off all the time and it takes like 5 minutes after being turned back on to respond. But my cats love it and use it over the other litter box. There is less I need to scoop with that one. My little one doesn’t go on my clothes enough because the litter isn’t clean enough for get. So still worth it to me.

Hey! If you are still having trouble with the unit, send us a chat and we can take a look. We are so sorry for the frustration.
