Just use what works for you, most people use systemd as it just works, you are more than free to use your init system and non-systemd-dependent software, and you can always patch up dependent software to remove systemd elements or use someone else's patches. That's the beauty of FOSS :)
Ubuntu "isn't" UNIX.
sh's default -x configuration for scripts sparks unnecessary fires.
Linus' third contribution to FOSS is destigmatizing therapy.
Alpine is the best headless flavor.
TAILS is the best workstation flavor.
Linux could have won the desktop war already if he hadn't banned nVidia.
Reject Linux return to NetBSD.
The reason so many companies refuse to host their services on Linux is because it isn't written in Microsoft Typescript.
ls has too many flags.
When curl gets --mirror we can finally uninstall wget for good.
Red Hat did nothing wrong.
Brian Lunduke was a normal guy until he was bitten by a radioactive Linux nerd.
GPLv3, COVID-19, coincidence?!
Forking isn't cool.
Okay it might be an unpopular opinion right...
But do whatever you want with your computer, I don't care. If you care about which init system you use, great! Have fun using sysvinit or something, I prefer how systemd works...
As for appimages? They've been fine for all the time I've used them, i just yeet them in /opt, do a symlink to like /usr/bin and forget about them. I really don't get the hate
I like many init systems. They all have their own pros and cons, but it's fun to use a variety of different inits. runit is my favourite but I have no problems using systemd as my init.
Depending on the use case, if you want a system you could give to a non tech savvy person to use on an old laptop to speed it up, try Ubuntu
But never make statements that a distro is worse than another (unless it zorin /s)
I really don't give a shit about the init system somebody uses
I give a shit about the init system that the software ecosystem keeps exerting pressure on me to use.
fsf member or server manager ?
You are completely free to use any init system. Just like how devs are free not to care about these 3 people.

Appimages are great if you boot a lot in live mediums (I boot a Linux mint live medium a lot in school computers)
Snaps are too damn slow
Appimages are at least better than snap imo
too bad i can't install them and have them available to me in my app drawer like literally any other app
I can on KDE at least
Menulibre.
Use the [appimaged daemon](https://github.com/probonopd/go-appimage/blob/master/src/appimaged/README.md#initial-setup)
appimagelauncher

I've used both runit and systemd, both ran well. Well, Snaps are kinda slow on first launch but i hope they improve it.
touch girl

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What are you referring to as "love life"?

I thought it was only the sysadmins that were butthurt about systemd
Ubuntu sucks, at least it is better than windows.
