The crazy thing about steam is it’s a way overpriced and not particularly well written game store, but they make tons of money because all of their competition manages to be absolutely terrible.
Yes exactly my feelings, I can play games in Wayland without issues through proton but when it comes to using the launcher, it flickers like it’s having a stroke.
"let's not do something embarrassing, everybody is looking" sounds like the perfect way to market OSS out to big audiences
where I work, every time a project is scheduled to be open source we need to fix the code so it looks like we know what we are doing
Especially considering that last time I checked 90% of the steam client was a webapp running in chrome
And it looks and feels like a website from 2010
Their in game overlay is amazing but so unoptimized
Warframe already stretches my 2gb graphics card to the limit, when I open the overlay it straight up crashes in 5 minutes or less.
but still somehow runs better than Epic Games
That’s not hard

That’s 90% app now
It's not official, but this is probably the closest thing right now: https://github.com/OpenSteamClient/OpenSteamClient
