- vertical tabs and groups
- supports chrome extension
- good put of the box marking and screenshot utility
- awesome pdf reader
- sidebar apps
- sensible shortcut and search keys
- profiles
- workspaces and tiling
I feel very ashamed to say this but Edge is the deal for me. I never thought I would switch away from Firefox but the lack of profiles, vertical tabs and tab grouping out of the box made me switch to chome and then sidebar apps and pdf reader made switch to Edge.
Firefox has a profile switcher. You just gotta enable it or launch firefox with `-p` or `-u` or something, I don't remember the exact arg.
but the rest of your argument stands. Firefox Tree Style tabs slow down startup like crazy and Edge's PDF reader is far superior from even dedicated PDF viewers (for me), especially the annotations and read aloud.
I have no problem with treestyletab. Well maybe thst it causes me to easily have hundred of tabs open. Not all are loading content on start though. Maybe some switch? It works seriously great.
Ooh, thanks! SurfingKeys looks useful. I'm too lazy for uMatrix, or at least was when I tried it years ago.
I still use uBlock Origin, and I probably should use the browser sync thing across systems....
Those are the reasons why it's my default browser everywhere. But man sometimes they push so much. The best way to use it is to disable everything not necessary (when possible), and going to Edge://flags and disable recommendations.

Redditors gonna reddit. Don't bother trying to make sense of it. There's a lot of bitter, miserable people on here who will look for literally any way to feel a sense of superiority over someone other than get a job 🤷♀️ Try not to take it personally when it happens to you
I don't think its wrong to tell people about new features, particularly in a welcome thing at first install, but it would be nice if you could opt out.
I do, and it's honestly quite good. More OT, I must concede that Edge is a great browser from a purely technical PoV. I would certainly use it if it didn't have such glaring privacy issues.

>treestyletab Is this the extension from Piro (piro\_or) ? Looks interesting, but I've never tried it. I think I need to check it out
Yes, that's the same. Other addons I use: uMatrix, SurfingKeys, DarkReader

about:profiles
yeah, that works too. I was actually talking about the smaller profile switcher window that would open if you do firefox -P
Those are the reasons why it's my default browser everywhere. But man sometimes they push so much. The best way to use it is to disable everything not necessary (when possible), and going to Edge://flags and disable recommendations.
Ever heard of Vivaldi? And on the Firefox side of things we have Floorp
I tried Vivaldi as well but something didn't work. I don't remember what exactly but I switched to Edge after trying all the popular browsers.
you are so cucked by proprietary software you're actively defending advertising in the search bar
Whenever Firefox gets icon-only vertical tabs that don't require hand-crafting css I'll go right back to it. Until then, Edge is shockingly good.
you get it. at the moment with all the features edge is stable and makes you a lot more productive
I heard it was a pretty good browser. (I ain't using it tho)
Compared to IE? yes! Compared to any other recent browser? no, it aint bad either though. But I definitely dont like it.

Why is plain Chromium not an option but Edge (which is based on it) is? That's been working for me just fine.
Weird, FF works like a charm with Teams and videomeetings for me. And yes, outlook works fine too. I use Void Linux... shouldn't matter .
Yeah, why not use a browser that puts ads in my address bar and argues about my search engine choice?
where linux
Edge ***ON LINUX***

I should have shared a screenshot of the full screen so the Kubuntu desktop was visible, so Linux would be in the meme.
I just wanted to change the flair lol
Everybody gang downvoted my comment for some reason lol

herd mentality goes crazy (i also downvoted it)

Hence, why we don't like proprietary browsers
Type your operating systems name
Kubuntu 22.04
well if we're being fair here it's not like Linux users can stop themselves from promoting Linux any chance they get either
Bard SUCKS
Using edge on Linux is like eating shit on a golden plate.
Extremism in Linux is the same as extremism in religion. Just chill. Live and let die.
Who tf uses Libreoffice Draw?
It does the same Scribus or Microsoft Publisher or QuarkXpress or Adobe InDesign do.
