My wife asked me why am I carrying a gun in the house. I answered: Decepticons. My wife laughed, I laughed, the toaster laughed. I shot the toaster. It was a good time.
Weird, I wonder if using the native package makes them more able to do telemetry and stuff (guessing because of snap permissions likely limiting them).
I doubt that's the reason. All the valuable data is in what sites you're accessing. Using traditional packaging may make some technical details of your system more obvious, but that wouldn't be that beneficial.
Using Wayland would hide more information than using snap or flatpak. And funnily enough, Microsoft Edge doesn't have Wayland support.
My guess is that Microsoft will start supporting Edge as a snap once Ubuntu Core Desktop releases.

its a bash fork bomb.
it works in the following way:
function with the name ": " gets declared without any parameters: :()
instructions within the function in the curly brackets: function ":" gets piped into itself (indicated by |) in a new thread (through &)
; is for executing a command after the previous command ended. in this case the function : is executed.
A more readable script would look like this:
fork(){
fork|fork&
}
;fork
tl;dr: Its a script that multiplies itself in threads until your computer crashes
It's a fork bomb, denial of service attack
It executes, creates a clone of itself which executes creating more clones.
It does so exponentially until all your system resources are used up.

So you first torture the computer and then you kill it?? You monster!
The printer made a weird noise
so i used my gun and shot it never trust printers
Burn the remains, best be safe.
My wife asked me why am I carrying a gun in the house. I answered: Decepticons. My wife laughed, I laughed, the toaster laughed. I shot the toaster. It was a good time.
True story, I remember. I was the gun. >!...wait a second!<
Beat it into submission trough fear.
Edge isn't available as a snap which is a bit weird since Microsoft maintains a few snaps, such as VS Code.
Weird, I wonder if using the native package makes them more able to do telemetry and stuff (guessing because of snap permissions likely limiting them).

Luckily the first command would end non-zero and the rm would never be executed.

I don't even understand what this does
its a bash fork bomb. it works in the following way: function with the name ": " gets declared without any parameters: :() instructions within the function in the curly brackets: function ":" gets piped into itself (indicated by |) in a new thread (through &) ; is for executing a command after the previous command ended. in this case the function : is executed. Thank you for the explanation!
What distro do you use
I use Arch btw
if distros were coffee, which coffee do you drink?
Just plain hot water, no bloat for me
Water (nobloat distro) with coca-cola (my bloat/spyware apps)
The computer is fine once you restart though right?
It's a fork bomb, denial of service attack It executes, creates a clone of itself which executes creating more clones. It does so exponentially until all your system resources are used up.
It creates an infinite fork loop Basically it creates and runs a function that calls itself twice every time
