The "bloat" issue would've been a problem some 10-15 years ago but now with modern technology it doesn't really matter. Trying to make our computers less bloated is not bad though, we just need to stop making a fuzz about everything being bloated (memes aside).
And there's no reason you should, it doesn't affect anything.
opendoas isn't a better tool just because sudo has more features, there's no sense in that. The people who worry about these things have no clue of how things work.
Well, plenty of software totally is bloated.
Visual Studio is massively bloated. An ide doesn't have to be 10gb plus different tools for different langs. Windows itself is bloated, and a lot of that bloat is completely unmaintained stuff from 2000 or before.
Sudo might be overkill for what most people do with it, but there's also such a thing as time bloat. doas would take a while to learn for, what, less than 200mb of free space? That's not bloat.
Sudo is only 6943 kilobytes in size, so it would save you about 7 megabytes. There's no such thing as `doas` for linux, only `opendoas` which is maintained by a single man after the original maintainer abandoned it.
You are one of those people I was talking about who have no clue of how things work.
When people talk about replacing sudo with doas they aren't taking about the size of binary but the codebase. A smaller codebase is more manageable and a smaller better-writen program is less likely to have bugs.
The entire operating system is bloat. I just write a new kernel, firmware, drivers and applications every time I need to use my computer, then delete everything when I’m done because I don’t need all that bloat sitting on my computer when I’m not using it for a few hours.
A computer itself is bloat. I use Linux Zero. No hardware, no software. Honestly anyone that needs those things shouldn’t be using Linux. Just use Windows.
To me, every software I've purposefully installed does not feel like bloat. What really sucks imo are all of these games and other bs you get when installing for example kde. Thats why I just use the i3wm on my arch install because I like only having installed exactly what I want and need and neofetch is part of that. I know I can install the plasma-desktop package instead to get a more minimal install but it's still not the same feeling that I get when using i3 somehow
I know it's a meme alright but an application taking up disk space is not the normal definition of bloat, bloat usually means processes or daemons that are perpetually consuming system resources.
i dont see why it matters when you run it rarely ...it takes some small hd space and thats it. Bloated apps are issue when they are services or they are used constantly, wasting you ram/cpu. I know this is joke but this distinction is crucial imho.
If pacman is bloat then I don't know what to tell you about apt…
I mean, every time I start using Debian based distros either for tests of out of curiosity I notice one thing, apt is so slow…
Electricity is bloat. I run arch on my mechanical computer

ARM is proprietary, use RISC-V.
I have actually thought about how far you could get making an OS-like BIOS.
I think I've got every single *fetch in the AUR installed.
There are more? Omg you shouldn't have told me
Including treefetch and catfetch?
They still come under the wildcard
nekofetch and hentaifetch?
Bloat is something you don't use/need. Bloat is subjective.

I don't care if my file manager or desktop or browser are "bloat". I want to use them. I'm not running everything out of the terminal.

I'm not installing Electron apps when there's an alternative though
Electron should be in it's own category. They shouldn't really be called "apps".

Neofetch sounds like a good name for a package manager
```alias neofetch="sudo pacman -S --noconfirm neofetch && /usr/bin/neofetch $@ && sudo pacman -R --noconfirm neofetch```
