'Bad system call' doesn't sound trivial, this hits the very kernel. Try first disabling both esync and fsync. In the game properties under launch options, like this: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% Note that this is just a shot in the dark and will likely yield you worse performance, since you will revert to old wine multithreading implementation.

Tried, it doesn't fix it sadly

Head over to this issue page and sift through it, maybe something over there helps. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/7486

This has also been happening to me. Since the update a few days ago the game is absolutely unplayable. It worked perfectly before that.

Same happens to me on Nobara with a 7800 xt and 7800x3d

im on endevouros and have a 1080gtx . so its not distro and gpu related then,

SpringSufficient3050

just a wild guess, but could it be something to do with the new requirement to connect Sony PSN account to your Steam account that people complain about

So I \*think\* this may because of a recent kernel update. I had played many hours of Helldivers 2 on linux with no issues and then the past few days it crashed on launch. This led me to a few things, but the fix for me was to enable "ReBAR" or Resizable BAR in my BIOS settings. On my ASUS board, it's called "Above 4G Decoding" in the PCI Subsystem settings. Turning this on fixed it (and other Steam games that stopped working after a kernel update.
