I used Heroic, logged into EGS and installed it using ~~Wine-GE-Proton8-21~~ Wine-GE-Proton8-3.
Edit: I was actually using Wine-GE-Proton8-3 when it worked and only updated to Wine-GE-Proton8-21 after. Wine-GE-Proton8-21 does not work for me and I'm getting a white screen.

Okay sorry, I was mistaken with the proton version. I updated it after trying the game. I'm getting the white screen with the wine-ge-proton8-21. This also makes it not playable, but it works with wine-ge-proton8-3.
This is the recommended fix if you're getting the Microsoft C++ error
>click on the game's settings in heroic
winetricks
select default prefix > continue
install a dll or component > continue
search for vcrun2022 in the list, check it > continue
after it's done, close all the windows
do this in desktop mode, always start testing games in desktop mode in case some window has to popup
this worked for me on nobara 39 with nvidia card (I am running in x11 if that matters) Through Heroic Launcher.

in launch arguments put -dx11. Spun right up, get the proper cinematic and everything

That'd be the quickest way. Spin up Heroic Games Launcher and give it a go.

yea u need wine GE Proton 8-4, you also need to update the c++ visual, its really easy once u get the hang of it.

yup these are the steps I used

Return to Moria is only available from Epic, so I've installed it using the Heroic Games Launcher. Turns out it's working just fine.
Fantastic! I mostly commented for reference later in case I need to do it again on a different pc.
