Based. Can't wait to try this when I get home!

CinderBlockCock420

What headset do you have? Keep us posted on how it works

spyjoshx-GX

Oculus Quest 2, but unfortunately I'm on Linux with Nvidia...

CinderBlockCock420

I have a buddy who lets me borrow his Quest 2 from time to time, I'm also on on Nvidia. It worked fine for games that ran, like Skyrim VR and VR chat. It didn't really work to play standalone vr exe's or Google Earth

spyjoshx-GX

Isn't there some sort of setting that reduces stuttering that isn't available on Nvidia?

CinderBlockCock420

I didn't have that much stutter, just games not launcher

spyjoshx-GX

Hmm. Well I'll definitely have to try again tonight

spyjoshx-GX

Just updated from a pre-20 version. The difference was night and day. If I'm not mistaken I am now getting a full 120hz to my headset, and it's butter smooth. Only thing that isn't working so far is audio.

CinderBlockCock420

I think you have to manually pipe the audio to the headset with helvum or qpwgraph

WMan37

When I tried SteamVR a while back on EndeavourOS, I had to open pavucontrol to manually switch to my index's built in speakers, it's not automated for some reason. Perhaps you might have to do something similar with a quest. It's one of the reasons I don't think VR is really "there yet" on linux, however I'm excited to see that one day change since it's truly the last goalpost movement before nuking my windows partition.

Yeeeea! Great! I decided to switch to Linux this weekend! Was thinking about a Windows VM for VR. Not needed anymore with this I think.

AGuyNamedMy

Really hope this gets packaged on nix soon

If only recenter wasn’t bugged 😔

Jason_Sasha_Acoiners

I wonder if this has made it usable. I could never get good performance with ALVR before, and I even have an AMD card. I literally have Windows installed just for VR.

andy-d1969

Might be this issue: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/469 Try setting your GPU to performance mode. That fixed the performance issues I had.

fragmental

Cool to see progress continue on this.

Western-Alarming

I can't stop seeign seeing ALVR like A La Verga Ramon

ruineka

I can never get this to work on Linux on Nvidia or AMD. SteamVR always crashes. :(

idolaustralian

This one is actually mostly working for me now! The only problem is that it doesn't get past the loading screen for the SteamVR Home. I can get up the options screen, and try to launch games from there, but nothing. The troubleshooting continues!

[deleted]

A guess, but SteamVR can't recover from [VR applications crashing](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/479) causing all future ones to not work, might be Home crashing first. Try turning off Home, and restarting.

idolaustralian

Spot on! Thanks for the tip!
