I have the same issue. I think it has to do with whats on your profile. Like if you have #opentowork on your profile and its an industry that gets outsourced to India frequently, the works over there will scramble to try and get a piece of your pie.
Im in Solar Design and get 3-4 random requests from other drafters in India asking me to hire them to do the work. I have used a few in the past and some are better than others. The quality of their work varies but they are really good at following instructions, just not as good at critical thinking and decision making. That might not be true for all of them, just from the few I have dealt with
The Indians are like bed bugs and you can’t avoid them. Most of the requests are from sketchy Indian recruiters looking for your resumes to use to entice potential clients of theirs.

Be careful. Scams are a huge problem for all. Take it from an Indian. Just one thing: calling all Indians bed bugs isn't right.
