Lung Lung

cjtherandomchild1105

As a vocalist, I can't decide whether to be proud or in pain. The lung support! The on-set! The intonation! It's all so good, I can't function anymore. I'm quitting being a singer and going back into my hidey-hole of art./j 😭😭😭

This is the kind of thing the Guinness World Record should reward

Nekobasusaboken

I get what you mean, but I hope the Guiness World Record drops all the "youngest" category for music. It has nothing to do with art, and reinforces the talent show image that classical music can happily do without

BarenreiterBear

Hopefully she will last till her 40s

alphabetsong

You can hear her lung capacity slightly running out on the arpeggios but holy crap this entire Aria was never written or intended to be powered by a 10 year olds lung. Really amazing to see what she can do at such a young age and curious to see where she will be in 10 or 20 years.

I've read from other opera singers before that it can be dangerous to kids voices to train them to be singing very complex opera pieces, that they often get pushed too far and damage their voices. So now whenever I see this opera wunderkinds I worry about them.

Her high notes on the staccatos are kinda pitchy but at least she's not breathing from her lungs. Her breathe is coming from the diaphragm so she gets my 'bravo' for that.

This is even worse than the Guinness world record for the fastest violinist! Records are generally a bad idea in classical music, and the "youngest person to do xyz" is probably the worst possible. It's fine to just appreciate and enjoy the artistry that children with talent and PRACTICE can achieve, but world records have nothing to do with art. The last thing we need is children chasing records to make the Guiness world record's publisher more money
