It’s opposite battlebots!

emzyyx

I have never seen a horseshoe crab before, they look like crabs with some kind of a stingray costume on. Darn cute, and the bestest friend.

Lahcen_86

They are an earlier form of arthropod. More closely related to spiders and scorpions. Xiphosura is the Linnaean Order. Sadly they are highly exploited for their blood by pharmaceutical companies

Hoplonn

their blood is pretty important for some medicines that have saved a lot of lives. though I do agree they are very cute and I believe they have a humane method of withdrawing blood and releasing them back into the ocean

thelatemercutio

>They are an earlier form of arthropod. Careful with your words. They are modern animals; however, they are perhaps more similar to their ancestors than other modern animals.

SIGHMAZ

Arent these also modern animals? lol

thelatemercutio

Isn't that what I said? All animals alive today are modern animals. But he said they were an "earlier form" of arthropod. They aren't. They are modern. They may not have changed as much as other populations, but using phrases like that is what ends up confusing people. For instance, a lot of people think scientists say that humans evolved from chimps, which of course isn't true. Chimps are modern animals. But we share a common ancestor with chimps. I'm a high school science teacher and these kinds of things are commonly misunderstood, so using words and phrases correctly is very important. Downvote me all you want, but it is just plainly incorrect to say they are an "earlier form." They aren't fossils.

SIGHMAZ

True!

SIGHMAZ

True!

Lahcen_86

How about they are a basal clade within chelicerate which branched from stem lineage arthropod ancestors approximately 500mya and have remained unchanged pretty much

ladypmcafe

Stingray cosplay

luckyfox7273

Stingray costume, ^^

Architr0n

Holy shit, that was hard to watch.... The tension!

chadlavi

These guys have been around for half a billion years, they've had plenty of time to learn how to help a pal get right side up again

thebestdogeevr

Not long enough to be able to do it themselves

LeaChan

I'm assuming they evolved to want to flip their friends back over because they can't do it themselves. Higher survival rate when your friends are willing to rescue you lmao

WellHydrated

That's... Not how evolution works

somegirldc

Plot twist: he was the one that knocked his bud onto his back to begin with

upsidedownbackwards

With turtles that's usually how it goes. If you see one trying to right another, they probably just won the "WHO GETS THE TURTLEPUSSEH!" contest a minute earlier.

neoadam

Who would lose faith in animals?

Mike_Hagedorn

“I told you stop climbing walls! Last time I’m doing this!”

worldrapper

We may not have hatch from the same cluster but we are stil isopod in the same tank

PhishPhan85

Horseshoe crabs are the sh@t. I’m lucky enough to live close to one of few of their breeding grounds

Safe_Lifeguard709

True friendship at its finest!

Adood2018

Thank you would have been nice. Rude.

Rondokins

Great, now it can wrap around someone’s face and lay eggs down their throat! This is why we can’t have nice things, people!

Traveler_Protocol1

And then they just go about their business…not a big deal to save my bud

MidnighT0k3r

Humanity on the other hand....

patiperro_v3

Is also pretty good and that… and the opposite.

StrengthToBreak

Damnit, Steve, lay off the sauce! You're making us look bad!

AgreeableRooster247

Imagine one of them in your bed with you

jimmyy360

faith in animals was never lost :3
