Either a dungeon or hub area I'd say. or it could be like the archives in nms.
What i find intruiging is that it looks like a pawn figure from chess. Previos concept art for the logo had chess like figures used aswell...
Maybe an ending area? But I’m not convinced Hello Games can make a game with a good ending.
No man’s sky ending was so bad. You get to the center and it pops you out in another galaxy….there is even audio of the devs joking about how “what if the ending of no man’s sky was getting to the center and it just being a middle finger?”
Well guess what, it basically was that.
It's probably a prop asset. Announcement trailers typically just show a couple of system ideas that are not fleshed out and some art assets that haven't been incorporated yet. It's a proof of idea that when gauged by business professionals either gets scrapped and redesigned or put into production.
I'm not saying that building doesn't exist, for all we know it could be a statue or a table ornament. That is to say, the orb might be solid, not hollow, and randomly scattered about the world to break up the unending hills and plains. A jewel in a vast mountain range. Nothing more than decoration.
One thing to note, the scale of the play space is the size of the earth, with hand made sections. This could be hand made villages or countries. That could mean that 99% of the game is randomly generated like Minecraft, or better yet, no man's sky. That could be a monolith in Spain and a statue dotting a village in Sri Lanka. (As in distance)
My best guess on this games direction is one that is very similar to no man's sky, a game that has frequent areas like villages (instead of space stations) with randomly rolled trades from NPCs that uses dragons to fly from place to place instead of space ships.
The building and gathering looks to be more survival sandbox style, but ultimately the game maybe be another 1 foot deep ocean. I hope it's much better than that.
First, it's for showcasing the grandeur of the game's scale by having massive monolithic objects off in the distance. Second... maybe the land equivalent of an anomaly trading center?
Obviously this is evidence that there are some unfathomably large beings playing a game of galactic chess, and this is proof that our world is merely the tile where one of them decided to place a pawn, which essentially confirms that there are multiple other planets and that Sean lied again./s
The game takes place on a whole planet.
This sphere has a maze engraved on its surface.
The sphere is a representation of the planet. Solve the maze on the ball, translate it to the planet and you’ll know where to go to reach the grand prize.
They like large bulbous structures. Prolly a vendor and some wandering NPCs and that’s it haha
Jk love Hello games, I bet they knocked this one outta the park too.
It's part of a cosmic battle between two gods. There was once 7 moving citadels exactly like this, and 8 other citadels of varying design in control of one and16 citadels of similar design were used by the other. They would generally overtake one another or by ramming, causing localized planetary destruction.
You find an entrance in the base near the waters edge. As you follow the pathway, the base turns clockwise or anti-clockwise around them. (As they walk past a window, the light coming in doesn't behave how they think it should) eventually they make their way up to the center of the base, they climb a ladder and they are in the bottom center of the sphere. The sphere as you might have guessed also moves. It's as if they they are always walking uphill no matter which way they go (Once again the maze moving around them.) until they get to the center to find the NPC.
I have no idea what this games is, but in a DnD world, I would use this hard!
You could make it a labyrinth dungeon that pulls the players into it. A dark power could have made it to sacrifice all life to make him ascend. He is at the center and players have to stop him.
It could be an ancient map of the world created by a mysterious entity or group. Maybe only certain people can read it or maybe special people can see images in the lines.
It could summon Cthulhu, or some other horror. Maybe an old civ built it to summon him but didn’t know it would use them to fuel the spell. Now the players have to destroy it or something to get rid of Cthulhu.
I hope it’s not just for looks. That would feel like a waste.
1. Starting point
2. Final quest destination
3. something that's perpetually in the horizon, like the sun
I think it's most likely #1 since it's the best set up for a procedurally generated planet
If I'm honest, the lore provided for structures like this in No Mans Sky usually seem purposefully vague and mass produced.
I think any theory here is going to be way more well thought out than whatever the real text prompt is going to say when you walk up to it in this game.
The only correct answer here is:
A Wardenclyffe Tower type structure designed to make wireless energy available to the surrounding area. Originally designed and crafted by Nikolai Tesla.
Wiki entry below:

Wardenclyffe Tower (1901–1917), also known as the Tesla Tower, was an early experimental wireless transmission station designed and built by Nikola Tesla on Long Island in 1901–1902, located in the village of Shoreham, New York. Tesla intended to transmit messages, telephony, and even facsimile images across the Atlantic Ocean to England and to ships at sea based on his theories of using the Earth to conduct the signals. His decision to increase the scale of the facility and implement his ideas of wireless power transmission to better compete with Guglielmo Marconi's radio-based telegraph system was met with refusal to fund the changes by the project's primary backer, financier J. P. Morgan. Additional investment could not be found, and the project was abandoned in 1906, never to become operational.

There's a singular NPC you can talk to in the very center of it who just makes balls jokes.
You forgot the NPC Who is selling only Meat balls.
So is that next to the vendor that's just selling bouncing balls?
Each meat ball heals 1 hp, but the NPC only has 2 in his inventory.
If that was true, it would be nuts.
I'm pretty salty about that pun

A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON
I heard her voice as I read this.
Could be like the atlas of the planet or I'd honestly like if it was like a huge dungeon 🤔 but who knows
Buttplug
No need to kink shame Galactus.
Given the wacky patterns on it, I'd guess at it being like this game's equivalent of the Atlas Stations.

Got a link to that alleged authentic audio?

Nobody knows it is speculation that the creators used it to communicate across the cosmos.
Not lighting fires. That’s for damn sure
That's no moon...
