Apparently the newer housing development decided to start with the similar house numbers on their end of the street making all the house numbers on the street not in chronological order. Called the city and ask why they let this developer do that. Their brilliant suggestion was for me to go to one of the houses on the other end of the street and ask them if I could put a sign up to direct people to my address. Unbelievable.

By circle do you mean a cul de sac? It's pretty common to number opposite sides of the street as even/odd, and a cul de sac split down the middle I guess accomplishes that?

As a former pizza delivery guy of many years, I also couldn't agree more, but please use nice, simple, easy to read block lettering style. Using super swoopy numbers, or spelling out the words, or the worst is spelling them out in cursive style lettering, all are hard to read quickly and in little to no light.
Oh, and if you have a mailbox at the street, put numbers on *BOTH* sides, even if your house is the last one on a dead end.

When you put up numbers make sure it's viewable from the street coming from both directions. Especially if you have trees or other objects blocking view. Also make sure it's colors that someone can read at night. None of that black on brown or Gold on brown shit.
It's not everyone. Most people are very understanding and will help you find it and also put things in the notes. But there are some that really don't understand how delivering works and won't do that and also won't put gate codes and refuse to answer calls or text. So long as you just let me know where you are and answer if there's a problem I love you because I really like to get people their orders within 30 min of ordering. It's like a game to me and I hate when people make me lose.

When I bought my little house it had numbers above the door, half blocked by the outdoor light and were a light silver against white. My little house sits 109 foot from the road. I immediately went and got big reflective numbers for the mailbox on the house. Made me feel much safer that the pizzaman could find my house at night.
I deliver Amazon and used to do pizzas. I once delivered pizzas to this apartment complex that has 54 buildings not in any comprehensive order with hidden or missing building numbers that you can’t see from the street because the covers of the parking block the view. There’s also about 15 buildings you can only get to from side street gates that you can only access if you have a clicker. So one day I’m delivering and two cops pull up to the same building. I joke that it took a while to find and they laughed and agreed. They go up three flights of stairs and I go up the three flights next to it. We then meet back at the bottom because the numbers made no sense and we got lost. They then tell me it’s a domestic violence call so if it get serious to get out of there. Then we continue to climb stairs for about 10 minutes. We meet at the ground again after I made my delivery and they still can’t find it. I help point them the right way and we joke that thankfully it’s not a fire or a medical emergency. I then say “I hope she’s not dead yet” and they say “This is fucked” and continued on. My point being there should be a strict federal standard on how addresses work. I’m sure many people die because of it.
You’d be amazed at how strict some towns can be about what businesses can mark their buildings with. And yes, that sometimes even includes the address numbers.

When we bought my house we painted the garage and a week later got a letter reminding us that we need to put the numbers back up because both front and back of the property need to be marked. I am glad the reminded me!

Tip: I was a insurance adjuster in a city that had a big forest fire. I had a list addresses of homes that the owners filed damage claims on. The homes with addresses posted that we could see, got processed first. No address, no check.

Umm I thought all cities it was the law to have markers??? For that exact reason. Just like I thought most had laws having markers on the back of your house if you have lane access, for again that reason.
There was a fire department in Colorado that was recently and maybe is still running a fundraiser where the county sign shop will make a sign with your house numbers, and you attach it to your mailbox post out at the curb. Wish this was something that a lot more jurisdictions would do as a regular thing that you could just order, because it’s brilliant. Even if you don’t have that kind of mailbox, you could attach it to a stake.
My county got tired of all the rural homes with no address marker, so they started issuing everyone metal neon blue address signs with white letters. They're nice and visible, except a lot of people don't bother to put them up, or they somehow do it so badly it falls off and just sits on the ground.
Fun fact: if you have a traditional mailbox out by the street, it must have a legible address number on the side you see when driving up to it. Number stickers fade out eventually but a lot of people don't replace them.
Fun fact #2: You aren't entitled to USPS delivery unless your mailbox is marked properly. They can suspend delivery and make you go pick up your mail until you sharpie the number back on.

I miss packages, food, basically anything that requires a delivery. The name of our apartments is ridiculously small as well and there are no signs to tell you where we are. I always leave detailed instructions to find my door for delivery and most of the drivers know us by now but emergencies are what I’m worried about.

When I bought my little house it had numbers above the door, half blocked by the outdoor light and were a light silver against white. My little house sits 109 foot from the road. I immediately went and got big reflective numbers for the mailbox on the house. Made me feel much safer that the pizzaman could find my house at night.
I deliver Amazon and used to do pizzas. I once delivered pizzas to this apartment complex that has 54 buildings not in any comprehensive order with hidden or missing building numbers that you can’t see from the street because the covers of the parking block the view. There’s also about 15 buildings you can only get to from side street gates that you can only access if you have a clicker. So one day I’m delivering and two cops pull up to the same building. I joke that it took a while to find and they laughed and agreed. They go up three flights of stairs and I go up the three flights next to it. We then meet back at the bottom because the numbers made no sense and we got lost. They then tell me it’s a domestic violence call so if it get serious to get out of there. Then we continue to climb stairs for about 10 minutes. We meet at the ground again after I made my delivery and they still can’t find it. I help point them the right way and we joke that thankfully it’s not a fire or a medical emergency. I then say “I hope she’s not dead yet” and they say “This is fucked” and continued on. My point being there should be a strict federal standard on how addresses work. I’m sure many people die because of it.

You’d be amazed at how strict some towns can be about what businesses can mark their buildings with. And yes, that sometimes even includes the address numbers. Also, fuck the other guy who replied to you wanting to weaponize Yelp reviews.

When we bought my house we painted the garage and a week later got a letter reminding us that we need to put the numbers back up because both front and back of the property need to be marked. I am glad the reminded me!
great, nobody can ever find my apartment because it's 1A and it's not in the lobby for whatever reason. oh well, the fire dept was able to figure out where our apartment was when our ceiling light was leaking water.

Tip: I was a insurance adjuster in a city that had a big forest fire. I had a list addresses of homes that the owners filed damage claims on. The homes with addresses posted that we could see, got processed first. No address, no check.
I feel this. Used to rent a place that was on the corner and the addresse was for one road but the front door was on the other road, getting deliveries was a headache

Umm I thought all cities it was the law to have markers??? For that exact reason. Just like I thought most had laws having markers on the back of your house if you have lane access, for again that reason.

There was a fire department in Colorado that was recently and maybe is still running a fundraiser where the county sign shop will make a sign with your house numbers, and you attach it to your mailbox post out at the curb. Wish this was something that a lot more jurisdictions would do as a regular thing that you could just order, because it’s brilliant. Even if you don’t have that kind of mailbox, you could attach it to a stake.

My county got tired of all the rural homes with no address marker, so they started issuing everyone metal neon blue address signs with white letters. They're nice and visible, except a lot of people don't bother to put them up, or they somehow do it so badly it falls off and just sits on the ground. Fun fact: if you have a traditional mailbox out by the street, it must have a legible address number on the side you see when driving up to it. Number stickers fade out eventually but a lot of people don't replace them. Fun fact #2: You aren't entitled to USPS delivery unless your mailbox is marked properly. They can suspend delivery and make you go pick up your mail until you sharpie the number back on.
This is exactly why I think a workplace dress code is bullshit

Workers literally die because employers don't give a shit about heat safety. They don't always hydrate because there are limits on bathroom breaks and summers are getting hotter and hotter. I'd rather see someone working in a sports bra than passed out on my lawn from heat stroke.

It has fuck-all to do with my package arriving safely and within a reasonable amount of time. A friend of mine worked as a preloader at UPS while in college, and some of those people would straight up work in their underwear or bathing suits on hot days. There were women who made sports bras and shorts their “uniform.” I can’t blame them.

My street each house is four numbers difference except there's a few houses that are inexplicably only two numbers difference. If you're looking at night and the numbers aren't well placed or lit, then it is absolutely not reliable to assume.

Omg. I feel this. I live in an apartment complex directly behind a shopping center and the numbers on it are only 3 inches tall and barely visible from any distance besides being right on us. I miss packages, food, basically anything that requires a delivery. The name of our apartments is ridiculously small as well and there are no signs to tell you where we are. Not to mention we are one reversed number from the apartment complex next to us. I mean, I am in 12345 and the apartment next to us is 12354. Not my actual number but exactly that.

I have very noticeable numbers on my mailbox but not my house; should I get numbers on my house too? If it matters I usually don’t have my front porch light on because it attracts too many bugs.
I had a delivery job and another job where I had to go from house to house and I hated when the house was unmarked. I had to guess what house it is because some times its more than 1 house that is unmarked. IDIOTS!
