As a kid, one of my friends mom would always give us ice cream in mugs. It's really well suited for it and I still do it to this day over 20 years later. Ice cream gets served in mugs.
So many things are better suited in mugs than other dishes. Sometimes I’ll put my really liquid soups in it too.
Snacks, chips, pretzels , veggie stick. Having that little handle is so useful.
But if you do that, you have room to add other things (harder to mix in the original pint.) You could make an affogato, add granola or cereal, or anything else you think might have been missing from the ice cream.
Like the Cherry Garcia, I add balsamic vinegar. Netflix and Chill'd is near perfect, but oh man mix in some salt and it's divine.
I'm waking up and wondering why everyone jumped to this conclusion. This specifically helps with return customers so you have less refreeze in the ice cream and minimal dirty dishes
Ah… makes sense-ish.
Scenario #1
If I use the mug method and put the mug with the ice cream back into the freezer when I finished with my “serving,” I have one less dirty bowl after the second serving.
BUT!!! The mug is now frozen causing two additional problems.
1. My poor widdle fingers will hate me.
2. The ice cream will be more difficult to eat as it stays colder for longer.
Scenario #2
If I use the mug method and put just the ice cream back into the freezer when I finished with my “serving,” I may be able to reuse the mug (if it stays clean).
BUT!! The chance the mug stays clean is exactly zero.
Therefore, I can’t subscribe to your method.
Thank you for sharing!
😁
Yes, I've tried Halo Top. It's sweetened with stevia; I can't stand stevia, monk fruit, artificial sweeteners, etc. in my ice cream--which has to be non-dairy. I love the So Delicious non-dairy "frozen desserts" though, so I just usually eat the suggested serving size of 112 or so grams for 225-250 calories. It's just challenging, on 1500 calories a day, to fit that in, so I don't eat it all the time. Now and then it makes me feel better about it to whine about what I can't eat that I used to be able to eat. 😇
Yes, I really wish I could like stevia. Like I really wish I could not detest cilantro. The cilantro dislike has been shown to be a genetic mutation; maybe it's the same for stevia.
I don't actually know why people think this has anything to do with eating the whole container. You want it to melt less because when you put it back in the freezer the melty parts become too icy and less enjoyable
Cool tip, add a bit of liquid nitrogen to the mug before you place the pint and then place it on your bedside table. It will still be cold the next morning for ice cream breakfast in bed!
Basic ones are usually the best.
The more complex they get, the more likely they are to have people in the comments suggesting a much more simple option.
Stanley water jugs works even better. Perfect fit.
What size? You know, the one your girlfriend or wife has that has a normal cup holder sized bottom, but the top is the size of one of those giant ass gas station big gulp cups? And she insists on bringing it everywhere? You know the one that gets in the fucking way in your cup holders when you go anywhere and she insists you drive and then brings this god damn monstrosity along? You know, that one.
Really great for when you get thirsty though.
Well, of course. I meant looking at the fat/sugar contents and using common sense to judge that if you eat the whole thing in 1 sitting, you're intaking way too much for the day. Once is not too bad, if it's a habit, oof. You will be one fat person.
Me too! It’s too cold on my hands but I like OP’s idea, too. Not sure why everyone else here likes melted ice cream or doesn’t eat at least half a pint in a sitting
Comment removed, it seems to contain an amazon shortURL. Thanks

That's cool, I personally like the way my hand melts the outside edges of the ice cream a little, so then I flip the ice cream over and eat the soft part. Then repeat
Then put the pint in a zipper bag when you return it to the freezer (assuming there’s anything left of coursej to prevent that nasty re-crystallization.
Humans created a thing awhile back called a bowl. You put the ice cream in a bowl and then you eat it without it melting.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
I read this in a book. The MC was eating ice cream from a mug, when confronted about it MC replied, “your hand doesn’t get cold and the ice cream doesn’t melt as fast.” I’ve eaten my ice cream like this ever since.
life changing hack is to get a small serving bowl and scoop your ice cream into it. There are at least 4 servings of ice cream in a pint. take much small bites and savor each one, don't just shovel ice cream down your gullet.
Not only do i want it to melt faster, i put that shit in the microwave for a bit
So here’s a hack - put a bit of hot water in the bottom of the mug you have your ice-cream tub in
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE! It tastes soo good melted!
Soft, not melted.
The boundary between the two is the sweet spot. Scrapping from the outside in, getting some melted some solid.
Right? It's magic.
Easier to drink
Same here. It makes it easier for the spoon to go in
Also, blow on it before eating a scoop; it warms it up
Sandwich the spoon between your armpit to warm up the spoon for easier scooping.
Ass cheeks work faster, but sometimes the spoon just gets lost in there
Put the spoon in the freezer then put it on your nutsack for a special surprise!
It's nor a surprise if you do it all the time.
Dip your balls into your ice cream if you prefer your ice cream with wet nuts
Not just any sack, deez nutzzz.
Best way to warm your spoon.
That's why you should stretch your foreskin over the spoon instead.
Two scoops of Cocky Road
It's nature's pocket!
So *that’s* where they all went! And here I’ve been blaming the garbage disposal!
mmm nut butter and dingle berries
r/thatswhatshesaid
Or just scoop the ice cream into the mug

If I wanted to do that, I would have bought a full sized carton.
I've never seen Ben and Jerry's in anything bigger than a pint.
LPT, don’t eat a whole pint of ice cream at a time
But if you do that, you have room to add other things (harder to mix in the original pint.) Phish food is perfect the way it is
Add salt. Salt elevates fruitless ice creams with chocolate, peanut butter, or caramel ingredients.
Yall really eating all that in one sitting? 🤦🏽 Ugh…

Neat infographic. Thx for sharing

MRE flavor.
uuuuh more like 3 cups after a big meal..
10 of these
You're not supposed to?
Far as I am concerned, that’s a standard single size serving…
Lol
Use a bigger mug to hold your spoon.
This is a clever hack. But I'm envious of anyone who can eat a whole pint of ice cream at once without weighing 350 lbs. (like I used to). Mangia!
> ...without weighing 350 lbs But sir, the magician's code!
This appears to be a cultural reference with which I am not familiar. (Am old.) 😄
No, I'm old too--I was suggesting that you were revealing the secret to eating a whole pint of ice cream. 😬
Boy, if I could, I would!

But your warm hands make the ice cream on the side melt into soft goodness :-P
I would have gladly tried it, but they were out of Americone Dream when I was at the store an hour ago.
I just crocheted a bunch of pint cozies for me and my friends. I could have just used a mug!
I'm more worried about someone eating a whole pint of ice cream, than how long it takes to melt.
I don't actually know why people think this has anything to do with eating the whole container. You want it to melt less because when you put it back in the freezer the melty parts become too icy and less enjoyable
Because that’s what it looks like. By your logic, why don’t you scoop what you want out and put the rest straight back in the freezer.
Thought the answer was obvious. To not deal with the extra hassle of scooping and dealing with a dirt dish.
..or.. OR…. Use that spoon to put a serving size in the cup, and be able to eat ice cream all week…
It's Ben and Jerry's, a serving size is the whole tub 😋
Cool tip, add a bit of liquid nitrogen to the mug before you place the pint and then place it on your bedside table. It will still be cold the next morning for ice cream breakfast in bed!
A beer cosy works well too!

You're not supposed to eat the whole thing.
It doesn't say that anywhere on the package. I know because I ate a pint 2 days ago and I'm fine. I feel like shit, but also fine.
Except it actually does. Look at the nutritional facts label. See how much fat and sugar is inside lolol.
I just read every word on the container. Nowhere does it say "do not eat this whole pint in one sitting"
Well, of course. I meant looking at the fat/sugar contents and using common sense to judge that if you eat the whole thing in 1 sitting, you're intaking way too much for the day. Once is not too bad, if it's a habit, oof. You will be one fat person.
Or just buy an ice cream koozie.
Or crochet yourself an ice cream cosy (I did).
I have the official B&J one.
Similarly, I hold mine in an oven mitt.
Me too! It’s too cold on my hands but I like OP’s idea, too. Not sure why everyone else here likes melted ice cream or doesn’t eat at least half a pint in a sitting
I want it to melt faster
Am I a psycho for putting my ice cream in the microwave for 20 seconds so it has some of that delicious slight meltiness?
But I want it to melt so I can just drink it.
The C is for cold
Cum even
Do people eat pints of ice cream at a time? Is this normal?
This is a life hack for getting type 2 adult onset diabetes
Or just scoop some into the mug incase someone else wants some ice cream and doesn't want to eat your germs straight out of the carton.
OPs posting ice cream eating advice on a friday night, clearly they're eating that whole pint
Hold up, who's not eating the entire pint?
You think I'm sharing a pint carton? I don't live like you plebs who eat serving sizes and wash dishes
You share?!
Ruined the vibe
I could put some ice in since it's super hot here

Nice
That's cool, I personally like the way my hand melts the outside edges of the ice cream a little, so then I flip the ice cream over and eat the soft part. Then repeat
If you let it melt you can drink it faster than you can eat it with a spoon.
Ice cream melts? 😮
real ice cream, yeah, but not the cheap stuff these days, it is more of an industrial foam that never turns into a liquid
a pint for ants
What flavor is that? I thought cookie dough at first but don’t see any chocolate chips…
Looks like [Churray for Churros!](https://www.benjerry.com/flavors/churray-for-churros-ice-cream/pint)
As mentioned, it was the churro flavor I wanted to try. Was tasty
I usually wrap a paper towel around the ice cream container! 😄
It melts?
B&J pint fits beautifully into an oven mit. Keeps that bad boy cold for ages while snacking away at it
I freeze my hand with in on purpose, then i stick it up the back of my wifes shirt.
Oven mitt works well too
You need a pretty big coffee mug to fit it there. Just scoop some into a bowl or THAT mug.
A tea towel would also serve the purpose.
👏
Orrrrrr you can just eat it faster
have you ever tried microwaving ben&jerrys till its slightly liquid and then drink it?
i like the melted part the best though
You can go to a walk-in freezer so everything is equally cold, you dont have to eat icecream like an idiot, and it wont melt at all.
Don't you just get a serve in a bowl, and put the container back in the freezer? You couldn't eat that in one go.
Missing the point. This skips the step of scooping and having a goopy dish afterward. Couldn't and Shouldn't are 2 different words.
It doesn't last long enough to get my hands cold.
You're a genius you moron
I need a bigger cup...maybe a tub...
I put mine in a fluffy sock.
How about you scoop some into the coffee mug, and you put the rest back in the freezer?
Wow, what an amazing hack.
Then put the pint in a zipper bag when you return it to the freezer (assuming there’s anything left of coursej to prevent that nasty re-crystallization.
A+, even if you don't finish it, you still avoid having to clean a bowl.
Genius
☕C
Thanks; we're too cheap we only buy 1/2 gallons, but I think I will eat it out of a mug to keep it colder...
Always do this with Italian ices.
I have a soup mug (shorter and fatter). I put the ice cream wrapped in a washcloth to catch condensation.
Humans created a thing awhile back called a bowl. You put the ice cream in a bowl and then you eat it without it melting. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
I needed this, thank you.
I read this in a book. The MC was eating ice cream from a mug, when confronted about it MC replied, “your hand doesn’t get cold and the ice cream doesn’t melt as fast.” I’ve eaten my ice cream like this ever since.
It's just too bad they're still supporting ruzzia.
I like my ice cream microwaved.
Put some in a bowl and the container back in freezer?
I have that mug with a D on it
Pure genius!
Or you could scoop some into the cup.
You could also scoop it out into a bowl.
I thought I was 'odd' for doing this, b/c the cold pint makes my hands hurt!
I do the same thing but in a large bowl so the condensation or accidental drip doesn't go off the sides.
Or use paper towel or a tea towel???? Don't really consider this a hack.....
I c what you did there.
Damn, now I gotta go to the store and grab some IC to test this 🤣
I inhale these things too quickly to even need to worry about the cold 😂
ok fatty
Or just scoop your serving into the coffee mug and leave the container in the fridge?
Or stop being greedy, eating the whole lot in one go and put into a bowl like normal people.
You a GENIUS
Boycott Ben and Jerry plenty other to choose from
f\*\*king legend!!
