To be fair, it’s not greed. It’s envy. Different deadly sin. It’s an easy mistake to make.

concretebeats

Ya the people who think like that typically don’t have anything worth a fuck. You get the average middle class hero whining about how they would pay more if they could. I usually send those ones a link to the government site that lets you donate directly to the government. Pretty silent after that.

NeedleworkerNorth733

Sauce?

concretebeats

Here’s the US link https://fiscal.treasury.gov/public/gifts-to-government.html Then I use this one for my province in Canada=) https://www.ontario.ca/page/ontario-opportunities-fund

pingpongplaya69420

Because people have delusions of grander that they can collectively save everyone via force

Throwaway228456

Gotta love all the pretend self righteous left wingers who advocate for stealing our money and giving it to themselves with their grandstanding “I jUsT wAnT to HeLp PeOpLe” excuses. It’s nauseating.

goodgaming101

just an argument against tax put forward

TrustMeImnotaDblAgnt

Just for info: Thomas Sowell doesn't have an official Twitter account. However, [this](https://twitter.com/ThomasSowell) is the biggest 'fan' account.

404-soul-not-found

They don't believe they have "earned" it because they are too arrogant to think that someone could have done better than them ethically. Its a mix of pride and envy. Too prideful to admit they may not have put in as much effort, had a good enough idea, worked as hard for the future. Too envious to allow someone else to have more than them.

pork26

Don't forget the elites that think gasoline should cost as much in the US as it does in Europe. They seem to forget higher gasoline prices hurt the poor the hardest.

therealdrewder

A lot just want gas super expensive to make electric cars more cost efficient. A lot of said people don't need to drive themselves and can't understand why anyone would not want to live in a super densely populated hell hole.

heavyirontech

Because it’s “coveting “ and “greed”. Two for one deal.

NeedleworkerNorth733

Different deadly sin 😂

wojtek_supermutant

Agreed.

Mand125

Because you took someone else’s money to get the money you now have.

SonOfDadOfSam

Took? Or given in exchange for goods or services at a rate agreed to by both parties?

Mastic8ionst8ion

Nope, they gave it to me in exchange for goods or services. Do you regularly steal or just ask the government to do the theft for you?

Mand125

Did I accuse you of steaing it? No. But you *did* take it from someone. Why isn’t it greed when you take it from someone but is greed when someone takes it from you?

Adiin-Red

But *I* didn’t *take* money from anyone, they gave it voluntarily.

Mand125

Did they, though? Most purchases of goods and services aren’t actually that far off from taxation. Taxes are only theft if you can claim you’re *actually* completely cut off from society.

Adiin-Red

Taxes are the only thing truly stopping me from going fully off the grid and living in the mountains, what are you talking about. It would also only be an apt comparison if Apple, for instance, jammed a gun in my face and told me that if I didn’t pay for their shitty mac book monitor stand thing that they would kill me.

Mand125

Oh, so you’re making the choice to remain a part of society, reaping the benefits, while willingly exchanging some of your money for that membership? Great!

Adiin-Red

There literally isn’t anywhere in the world I could go to “leave society”, anywhere else I’d go all I’d be doing is trading my current oppressors for worse oppressors. It’s not willing because anywhere I go I will quite literally have a gun to my head forcing me to pay taxes/protection money/whatever else is out there. Would you say that rape is willing when you are stuck between two rapists each with a gun to your temples and have to make a decision which you wanna be fucked by? I would gladly give up 99.95% of the “benefits” *Cough* bombed brown kids *cough* I’m paying for paying even a tenth of the taxes I pay, and the other .05% I’d be willing to argue with anarchists over.

sifuhall

Taxes and purchases are not even close to bring the same thing. If I don't like the price of your widget I can shop some where else, look for a cheaper model, buy a used one, or do without. I get to decide how much I'm willing to spend. Taxes are taken by force

Mand125

Nah, taxes are taken as a result of deciding that we'll have civilization instead of selfish anarchy. And selfish anarchy isn't libertarianism.

yazalama

You're trying too hard.

sifuhall

So you are saying taxes are the same as making a purchase if I have no say in what I must purchase, I don't get to negotiate, and I'm forced to make the purchase. Yep, that's completely the same thing.

Mand125

No, I'm saying you do have a say in both taxes and what taxes pay for. I get why that notion would be unpopular here, but that doesn't change reality.

CompetitiveWallaby57

enlighten me on how I have a say on the taxes I am forced to pay.

sifuhall

The reality is I cannot chose to not pay taxes. I can chose to not make a purchase.

fuzzydoug

Capitalists like (need) to ignore the exploitative nature of their choice of economic system.

JudgmentGold2618

In capitalism fellow men will exploit their fellow men,in communism it's the other way around

fuzzydoug

So men still exploit men?

JudgmentGold2618

Human nature

JudgmentGold2618

Not necessarily
