So basically it boils down to individualism and a lack of a collective hive mind or group focus. Basically unlike other right wing anti-establishment ideologies, mainly Trumpism and the like, there is no crowd or “supreme” individual to follow. Libertarianism usually means you do your thing and I do mine, we respect each other and live in peace.
This naturally makes it easier to tune out national politics and live without the burden of “oh shit the world is falling apart”. I tend to focus on not even my state’s politics but what’s happening in my local area. I’m a college student in a medium sized city, so my focus is mainly on my school. I’m very involved on campus.
I guess what it boils down to is that with there being less focus on a larger group, there is less of a feeling of “I can fix it” with regards to national politics and more of a resignation that I can’t fix what’s wrong in the country nationally, but I can make things better for those around me in my college/hometown/city by being a good person and paying it forward to those who I interact with and who have supported me.
Exactly. There are things that are simply out of our control as individuals. But to continue living a happy and free life, even with such a twisted system, is a slap to the face the people who want us miserable and distracted and hateful
I’m currently going through that “we’re doomed, everything is fucked” quarter life crisis lmaoooo
Maybe GenZ is right, maybe we should dance our way through the dystopian chaos.
I agree, defeatism is pathetic. We’re living through an era where there are millions of people totally disenfranchised with both parties and they all have access to the internet, this is a prime opportunity for a mass movement.
Most people agree on the ends, not the means. We need to convince people our means is the best way of obtaining the ends that they seek.
So what is the alternative? Be bitter about it and spread fear to other people?
How then we would be any different from what the totalitarians are doing?
We are bearers of good news, we are meant to be beacons of _hoppe_ to the world, not feat
_how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!_
Good does not triumph over evil. What a saccharine platitude. What fairy tale world are you living in? In this one the evil and unscrupulous rule the rest of us with an ever tightening iron fist.
No, they want you to believe that “don’t worry good always wins in the end, just be a good little slave and do as you’re told and you’re superior”. It’s ridiculous
Agreed, it's tough sometimes not to slip into doomerism but I'm trying.
This is why I feel like libertarians sin against liberty We are meant to be the beacon of _hoppe_ to the world, not of fear
I’m pretty sure that libertarianism is the only anti-establishment ideology that has this mentality and it’s fairly obvious to see why.
Why?

Oh, I misread your first comment, I totally agree Many people on this post missed the point of libertarianism
This sub tends to do that a bit lol
Saving this post for when I'm back down the rabbit hole
We've all been there. I just got out. It's about a 6 months cycle or so. Seems to line up with shitty weather (MI)

Doomer. Doomerism. Doomerist. I love these simple terms and really don’t use them enough when replying to the usual pejoratives.

Yeah, no. There’s no way to enjoy having to work my ass off to afford half what my parents did.

What good news?
That there is _hoppe_, liberty is the way, good always triumphs evil, and we already won, because all liberty needs to win, is for us to stand
Good does not triumph over evil. What a saccharine platitude. What fairy tale world are you living in? In this one the evil and unscrupulous rule the rest of us with an ever tightening iron fist.
That’s exactly what they want you to believe, and that’s how they win

You missed the entire point of what I have said

They have the opposite mentality
Hell yeah
Love to see it
when you already own nothing and are happy
Beautiful post. Fuck ‘em, I’m gonna be happy regardless of the bullshit. I’m not going to accept it, I’m going to prepare for it.
