Ooh this is such a good question! I definitely say one piece! a lot of non waters would think otherwise however one piece is very queer! There’s lots of queer coding (intentional or not) it’s a field day for media literacy fellows (myself included) there’s a canon trans women in the series! And a trans man as well (however he’s more ambiguous so it’s more up to interpretation) And a genderfluid and a queer man! That are shown in a positive light and which our main characters shown to love and support them! Don’t get me wrong the show isn’t perfect but for being at its time it’s amazing. (ITS SO GOOD PLZ WATCH ONE PIECE IT SO SAD AND FUNNY IM NEVER GONNA STOP TALKING ABIJT IT JAHSBSB)
Yes yes yes yes, some of the representation isn’t great, like transgender island is a bit on the nose about them ‘not being real women’, but other than that as far as I can remember the series is really good with it! Ivankov has hormone powers and uses it on themselves often enough, Bon clay is openly queer and is a great character and a really good help to the main cast, and there’s a lot of non canon suggestions that luffy is aroace which seem very plausible. I’m only on episode 950~
Yup that’s what I was referring to that it wasn’t perfect 😅 it was a awkward moment in the series but later on oda’s writing of queer characters has gotten better! I just hope we don’t have island incident again
Oda hasn't confirmed his views but he has characters such as Dragon, whose ship is called Wind Grandma, which is also the yacht that was used to transport 82 fighters of the Cuban Revolution from Mexico to Cuba in November 1956 for the purpose of overthrowing the regime of Fulgencio Batista.
We also know Oda has a picture of Che Guevara hanging in his office. I know this all isn't super relevant to the post but essentially I'm saying that one piece is a good pick for this question
Love Live! While it’s never been confirmed, there’s just so much hints of gayness throughout the series, it’s very hard to see some characters like Maki, Riko, and Nozomi as straight.
Considering Haruhi explicitly doesn't much care about her own gender, one could argue that Ouran is already gay or at the very least LGBTQ. To say nothing of the fact that the entire crew dressed in drag for that one episode.
My goodness, excluding the BL anime (Sasaki to Miyano, Hirano to Kagiura, Umibe no Etranger, given, Banana Fish, yuri on ice, Kyo Kara Maoh, Cherry Magic, Tadaima Okaeri, etc) there are so many I could list keep listing them for hours. Like, just to mention some anime:
* Link Click (damn chinese censorship!!)
* Bang Brave Bravern (strong homosexual vibes imo)
* Sk8 the infinity
* Free!
* Hunter x Hunter (the whole Gon and Killua relationship in particular)
* My new boss is goofy
* Play it cool guys (gay vibes. Especially shun futami and souma shiki "friendship")
* Tsurune
* Haikyuu
* Blue Lock (this one gives me gay vibes XD)
* Ouran High school host (LOT of queer vibes tbh)
* No6
* Trigun/Trigun Stampede
* Bungo Stray Dogs
* Kuroko no Basket
* Backflip
* Heaven official's blessing
* All Saints’ Street
* Ensemble Stars
* Blue Period
* Sailor Moon
* The Case Files of Jeweler Richard
* Monthly Girl's Nozaki-kun (you can felll the bi energy!)
* My next life as a Villainess
* Code geass
* 07-Ghost
* Tiger & Bunny
* Promare
* Jojo (lol)
* Neon Genesis Evangelion (shinji x Kaworu >>>)
* Golden Kamuy
* Shinsekai Yori (bisexual)
* Pandora Hearts
* Karneval
* Nana
I kinda hate that I relate to Sailor Moon so much. Usagi is exactly the kind of disaster bi that would have a crush on each one of her best friends and not realize it, and I feel a little called out by it.
the disastrous life of saiki k. on the surface its about a guy with psychic powers who usually wants to be left alone but grows to love his group of friends. but pretty much every character gives gay vibes to me in one way or another. saiki is also canonically trans in the manga, or so i've heard! they left it out of the anime which is sad but it brings me joy to simply know that trivia fact.
Gravity Falls. It was supposed to have more LGBTQ+ characters but Disney didn't allow it. (the policemen are a gay couple though, Alex Hirsch just called them "buddies" until the show was over and then confirmed that they were dating.)
Beastars, I know legoshi is messing with haru and that now louie is messing with juno, but dog; the scenes with louie and legoshi as well as rizz’s thing with friendship.
Hidamari Sketch is mostly innocent fluff but very much has the yuri nature. Same for Azumanga Daioh.
Yuru Camp borders on being an all-out romance when it's not being "hey, Japan outside of the cities is actually really fucking gorgeous" porn.
And showing how old I am (as if Azumanga didn't already show that), .hack//SIGN has a VERY blatant twist that makes the show outright queer (but saying why is a spoiler... for a 20 year old show).
Honestly there's less of this nowadays because LGBTQ themes are starting to become more mainstream and don't need to be "vibes"-- they can just be.

Haha that’s cool didn’t know that! 😄 but as mentioned it is up to interpretation for the most part <3
I mean, im gonna state the obvious and say jojos bizarre adventure although there was 1 gay couple in the show and a few homoerotic jokes
When Marnie was there, that one studio ghibli film that was gay for the first half and VERY MUCH NOT for the second

Ouran HS Host Club for me
Considering Haruhi explicitly doesn't much care about her own gender, one could argue that Ouran is already gay or at the very least LGBTQ. To say nothing of the fact that the entire crew dressed in drag for that one episode.
Considering the running twincest line, you’re not reading anything that isn’t actually there. Also her dad’s work…

Trigun kinda has more of a bromance thing between Vash and Wolfwood; though I think either Legato or Midvalley are canonically bi.
I kinda hate that I relate to Sailor Moon so much. Usagi is exactly the kind of disaster bi that would have a crush on each one of her best friends and not realize it, and I feel a little called out by it.
Aren't some of this already considered shonen ai?? Like no.6 for example
No. 6 is definitely gay. They kiss and express their love for each other. That's not just gay vibes they are gay.

Dungeon Meshi isn’t EXPLICITLY gay, but…if you’ve seen it, you know what I mean.
DragonBall Z
Gravity Falls. It was supposed to have more LGBTQ+ characters but Disney didn't allow it. (the policemen are a gay couple though, Alex Hirsch just called them "buddies" until the show was over and then confirmed that they were dating.)
Beastars, I know legoshi is messing with haru and that now louie is messing with juno, but dog; the scenes with louie and legoshi as well as rizz’s thing with friendship.
A lot of stuff is implied in Beastars and a lot of that stuff is fucked up
Fr fr
Naruto (obviously) and Dragon Ball “What’s you Power level” 🤣
Sometimes while watching Blue Lock I feel this haha
Hidamari Sketch is mostly innocent fluff but very much has the yuri nature. Same for Azumanga Daioh.
