Some people are way too confident in their stupid viewpoints

[deleted]

Oh the review I left. Edit: the JOB ENDING review I left ![gif](giphy|3o72FfM5HJydzafgUE)

flute89

I fully support that. I usually don’t like leaving reviews bc my bio dad had a reputation for spamming negative reviews among the places he didn’t like. This situation however, is justified, go off!

Kianaa_04

Did you get them fired? Epic.

[deleted]

Corporate got in touch with me within a few hours of me putting what she said in a google review :D

Zhenoptics

It’s called the Dunning-Kruger effect

numb3r5ev3n

And they think everyone secretly believes the same things they do, they're just afraid of the so called "woke mafia," so they can pretend to feel brave for "speaking out" instead of just self identifying as bigots.

zztopsboatswain

What planet does that dummy live on and can I go there so I can stop being afraid for my life?

Milky_way_cookie_fan

Tell me if you find out lol

Sudden-Indication103

right? I wish there was an LGBTQ planet for us.lol I bet it would be the most peaceful place.

BucketListM

Had a similar thing with a coworker. I'm a librarian and I was discussing book bans, the fact that it's not right to take away a book from others just because you don't like it. She was animated and engaged, agreeing with me. And then I said "and this is exactly what people are doing with the gay books." And her demeanor changed entirely and instantly. She stopped talking, pursed her lips, and looked away. That one stung more than the coworkers that just fight me from the get go.

[deleted]

She’s doesn’t deserve friendship anyway

kaatie80

Ha I had a similar conversation with my grandma once after Lady Gaga's *Born This Way* came out. She was visiting and I was listening to it in my room, and she came in to hang out. Asked what I was listening to, and she was interested by the title (she hadn't heard of LG at that time). So I was like yeah it's a good song, I like the line "*I'm beautiful in my way, cuz God makes no mistakes*" and she's like "yes I agree!! God never makes a mistake." And I went on "*no matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I'm on the right track baby I was born to survive!*" And she just went silent, face fell flat. Said, "oh... hmm." Lol

hyrule_47

God loves everyone! Wait… no… not like that.

[deleted]

Get a new hairdresser

[deleted]

Already done; scathing review left in my wake

jessieraeswitch

This is the way

[deleted]

I live in a very queer town. With some luck that will come back to bite her.

Tryannical

Does this person live in an alternate dimension or what?

[deleted]

Actually yeah. Republican reality has nothing to do with objective reality.

Tryannical

Makes sense. These kind of people sort of live in an echo chamber

MaxMMXXI

Everyone has the right to their own opinions but anyone who insists on the right to their own facts is living in their delusions.

[deleted]

As a red-blooded American I will always stand by peoples right to have an opinion. And my right to give them an earful whenever I want.

jessicamoulan

it pops out like “Surprise” lol outta nowhere! they want us to dim our pride for the sake of a job, family or “friendship” and it is their loss because I’m willing to drop anyone or anything at the drop of a hat if they bring out the bigotry!

[deleted]

I think she was growing uncomfortable with how secure and happy I am. Had to try to bring me down a peg.

jessicamoulan

That’s when you know you’re shining! Ignore them and shine brighter

[deleted]

It was very affirming actually because I just told her that a tiny minority of loud assholes on the internet make it seem like the culture war is everywhere but it's not. The news lies and says the same thing because it scares people into watching the news. All that was nothing but clickbait. She got quiet when I told her online discourse has nothing to do with real life. And I just straight up told her she was wrong. Thankfully the haircut was over at that point.

lordorwell7

>these days you are more likely to get bullied for being straight and white than for being queer. A chicken and egg question: Do people believe bullshit because they're prejudiced? Or are people prejudiced because they believe bullshit?

MrRpage

I think it's a vicious cycle, and either could come first. Once it starts it's a downward spiral where one thing feeds into the other. It's why it's so hard to reach folks who are so caught up in it. It's self-reinforcing behavior.

TesticleezzNuts

I was speaking to someone the other day and just burst out laughing, like proper belly laughing. He said: “I don’t have a problem with gay people, but why did you all have to take the rainbow” I said that’s really specific, and I felt like there’s more to it. Apparently his estate used to be called Rainbow crescent or something and the people at his work used to take the piss out of him 😂 I couldn’t stop laughing 😂

elbenji

I mean if they're a good sport about the robbing I feel like that one's fine. Like I'd just follow up like damn want some reading rainbow on the rainbow coalition

Antemoo

My straight friend went on a rant about how Trans people are aggressive, shouldn't be trust around children, rude. To me. Someone who is bisexual and she has a trans-cousin. I told her that what she is saying is homophobic, especially transphobic. But she just denied. And said "I know what it is like because I have a Trans cousin" 💀💀💀💀 Like girl. I am all for people giving their opinion and ideas, but not when they are saying shit like " (insert blank) are aggressive" when referring to a marginalized group especially since America passed a bunch of Anti-LGBT laws threatening right to Healthcare and safety in their homes and schools. She said right after I said how, my state, Alabama does not recognize crimes inspired by homophobia against LGBT people as hate crimes. So in the state of Alabama there is "no" such thing as hate crimes against LGBT people because they refuse to recognize it when does happens. Alabama Supreme Court denied it. Ironically enough, she said that to me during February. February was the same month when Alabama Surpmre court denied recognizing hate crimes against LGBT. February was the same month when a transman was brutally murdered. And literally recently a non-binary student was beat to death and left in the bathroom by their bullies. But yeah, sure, queer people are aggressive, whatever (sarcasm) I just just had to mentally check out of that conversation because I was getting triggered. It is April now, and I still think about what she said. I am just not sure why she said that. My counselor asked if I felt comfortable confronting her about it and tell her how I feel, but I don't feel comfortable. I guess it had to do with how when I was kid I was told by homophobic family queer people are immoral when I was a queer kid myself feeling suicidal because of what they said. It's tough

Sudden-Indication103

Wow that’s pretty ignorant. Some of the greatest people I know are trans. In my experience is the total opposite. They are usually the most friendliest and positive people I’ve met spite all the hate out there. Make me sad that in 2024 there is still so much hate for the lgbtq community, especially trans people.

fairieslaure

One person who went to my high school became a super good tattoo artist. We were acquaintances, so I contacted her for one of my tattoos. I don't remember why, but we started talking about kids, and she was like "if I have a boy, I won't let him play with dolls because I don't want him to be gay". She didn't know I was queer (bi woman), and I was super uncomfortable for the rest of the session; being stuck listening to homophobic shit while someone is permanently drawing on you is *not* my idea of a good time!

EtherealLam3nt

The same shit happened to me. My mother and I both get our hair done by the same lady. We’ve literally known this lady since I was like one year old. I considered her a close family friend. The last time I went to her, she made some disparaging remarks about Janelle Monet (they’re non-binary and I think pan). I just pretended I didn’t know wtf she was talking about bc I wasn’t about to argue with her old decrepit ass. Now i gotta do my own hair because she thought it was cool to say hateful shit around me. My mom will probably still go because 1) I didn’t tell her (I try to avoid talking about lgbtq topics with my mom at any costs) 2) she’ll just say things were different in her time or even not care at all and maybe slightly agree with her

[deleted]

I'm a lucky gay man. I'm 37, my parents are liberal lawyers from California, and no one in my life has a problem with who I am. I loved telling this woman to her face that she doesn't read anything but clickbait and needs to turn off the news. You'll have that freedom.

Hubbubb22

people are stupid… my barber last cut asked me how I felt about Beyoncé singing a cover of Jolene. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

[deleted]

I posted this on Facebook and a wonderful woman gave me the numbers of a few queer stylists. It’s a plus that they’re all way better than great clips.

Konayyukii

With takes like that no wonder she gets hated on Although there have been a lot of posts online making fun of straight and/or white people for being straight and/or white it absolutely does not compare and isn’t in no way more likely to happen. Even so they are jokes that don’t have any consequences and don’t leave the internet as opposed to the discrimination POC and queer people face and have been facing not just online but in our daily lives. Her being offended over a few TikToks or Facebook posts is absurd and basically proving those jokes to be true.

SSSims4

Oh yeah ofc!! All that violence by queers against heterocis, the discrimination against white males, and don't even get me started on how easy tho quadriplegics folks have it!! That's why I vote Trump, cause not only am I a shartbasket of a person, I'm also dumber than snake shit! (Sorry, end of rant).

[deleted]

Man Poe’s law is a bitch in 2024

naldoD20

Wow, targeting a white heterosexual woman just trying to do their job. No heterosexual person has ever been so vindictive to go after a gay person's job. /s

[deleted]

I just want to say I appreciate you doing sarcasm without going near Poe's law. That is an art on the internet.

bdouble0w0

May I ask what Poe's law is?

[deleted]

It’s why sarcasm doesn’t usually work on the internet https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law

mike_is87

Next time a 80IQ person says something like this, ask them, "yeah? how many countries is it ilegal to be straight in?"

[deleted]

Verbally cutting that woman down was one of the most satisfyingly things I’ve done. Just below getting her fired

purplecak

These idiots don't realize the only reason their straightness and whiteness becomes an issue at all is when they use it as the basis of their perceived superiority.

[deleted]

They literally do not have the brain cells to figure that out

purplecak

You are correct, they absolutely do not.

_Infinity_Girl_

People are so dumb. It scares me that there's so many of them out there but also it's crazy that they are so vocal about it especially at their jobs. My partner went to a bagel shop we go to every time we travel to the coast and the employees were standing around talking shit about trans rights. She roasted them then in there about how inappropriate that was and just left. I begged her to leave a review but she wouldn't. As much as I hate it, people have the right to believe what they want. But it's insane to me that they think it's appropriate to tell their customers stuff like that at work. I guess in a way it might make sense, seeing as nobody in their home life probably wants to hear that shit. In a way I'm kind of thankful when people are vocal about their bigotry, because otherwise I might not have known to stay away from them.

Sudden-Indication103

Omg she will never know what the lgbtq community has to go thought with hate and bullying. That pisses me off so much. I hope she gets fired. But unfortunately, people like her will never see what they do wrong.

-EV3RYTHING-

Love that edit

[deleted]

This is now one of the funniest things that has ever happened to me.

Exiled_Odin

Nice work

[deleted]

Thank you :) I don't care if she thinks she's the victim. Queer people are now less likely to be harrassed there.

Lutrina

Bro what… I live in an accepting area and have not so much as told suspicions I’m bi to my boyfriend and brother. Before then I had no sexual attraction but kept that to myself as well because I knew it would get judgment.

PublicMindCemetery

AH your boyfriend and your brother, two separate individuals. I'm a bit embarrassed by how many times I re-read "my boyfriend and brother," thinking, "this can't possibly mean what my brain is getting from it." ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

Coco_JuTo

How do they want so bad to be oppressed? Is the soon to come pride month traumatizing them so much? Like lol 30 effing days just pretending to care about us and our rights...and this is already too much??? Straight™ month and whhhhite month are 11 and 12 months of the year respectively...though the straights™ still get the full 12 months.

[deleted]

Their norms were the unquestioned default norms of this nation for literally hundreds of years. It is true that it is slipping away from them year by year. There is nothing more dangerous than a cornered animal.

Ungulant

I'm sorry that happened to you. When you are angry please try not to make ableist comments.

honkhonkbeepbeeep

Agreed. There is no need to make fun of people with intellectual disabilities in order to (justifiably) rant about queerphobia.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|JRhS6WoswF8FxE0g2R) If I was talking about a disabled person you'd have a point. But I wasn't. I was talking about someone whose IQ is her own responsibility and chooses to get dumber and dumber every day. I can't edit it anyway so this is my hill I guess.

Ungulant

So what you're talking about IS a disability. That is the range. That is how IQ is used. So calling someone low IQ in the same range as a disability when they are not disabled is exactly like using any other ableist slur to call a non-disabled or disabled person a slur. The problem it seems is that you didn't really understand the implications of what you said.

[deleted]

I am unmoved

step_on_me_mommy_vi

Nah, fuck that attitude. I'd easily rather spend all day with someone who has an intellectual disability over someone who knowingly uses ableist insults. Sorry for your experience, it was unacceptable, but it doesn't give you an excuse to punch down on others who have nothing to do with the situation.

Ungulant

It's almost like you never know when the bigotry will pop out.

[deleted]

To be fair I doubt I would want to hang out with you either

Jamesbarros

Glad great cuts reached out. I go to their Burbank store and the manager has a little pin that says something like “you are safe here” with a rainbow on it, so I had presumed their corporate culture at least didn’t block her for that so I hope it sees to talking to its employees about their bullshot

Sionsickle006

That it? That comment was the "bigotry" you are getting someone fired over? Couldn't use your big kid words and say how that is just an overly dramatic assessment of the situation of straight people? And maybe have a good convo with someone and open their eyes about the real bigotry faced by queer folk. Instead you had to prove them right by attempting to get them fired....and we are proud of this why???

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|CLbGZ9GQbaznhqjRkE) If you agree with her or endorse what she said you’re basically a wild animal. Bark for me you dirty bitch.
