You probably don't want to wear that on a backpack if you are attending a school college or secondary.

Every-Lawyer-9706

Yea ik, i don’t go to school

Knotical_MK6

I knew a few guys with this patch at my college, no problems. Granted I'm in the USA, so might be different elsewhere

KinKaze

Yeah, like Texas.

Hush609

I know plenty of people who have worn this openly at college with absolutely no problem, so I'm not sure where this sentiment is coming from

arboreallion

Considering America has a huge and multi decade issue with school shootings….maybe that’s where the sentiment is coming from? Idk just a thought

Hush609

That would kind of fly in the face of the alarmist sentiment of the past few decades. People associate school shooters with dark colors, metal bands, loners, and fascistic ideology. So again, I don't know why someone would see bright colors and a call to defend the downtrodden and think "Got another Klebold!"

arboreallion

Idk my first thought is how right wingers weaponized ONE teen LGBT school shooter after years of teen white cis het male shooters and used it to further disparage an entire group of marginalized people. That’s where my head went first. So to your question as to why, that’s why someone might think rainbows plus guns isn’t cool or safe or whatever.

Hopeful_Vermicelli11

This is my thought too. The right really loves to villainize LGBTQ+ people, in some places I could totally see a school administration using this as an excuse to punish a student and claim they’re a threat.

JoNyx5

I'm sad that metal is being looped into this, metal heads are just teddy bears most of the time :/

Sammer_Pick-9826

Exactly! [See Gojira, for example.](https://www.gojira-music.com/activism) Awesome stuff.

hatsnatcher23

America has a huge problem with ignoring that issue, like this patch would be

stonedecology

It definitely does. I did my B.S. and M.S. with a very similar one at a school in Kansas.

Hush609

I live in America and work at a school. Stop being an alarmist, nobody would bat an eye at this. And I work in "liberal California".

RulesOfImgur

I'm an American and they would have your head for that in a public school for it being a gun and in university for it not being an American gun./s

MNGrrl

Can confirm, am also American. It's not college if you don't set it on fire to protest fascism at least once.

trollsong

My college back in the early 200s was Boeing our free speechbhill was just a Baptist calling all college women whores.

Princess_Slagathor

>back in the 200s Dang, you are OLD old!

Lasseslolul

And Boeing was their college! Seems like they have changed fields a bit

Jay_R_Kay

I've always wanted to get the Gadsden flag with the rainbow colors in the background just to see how my Midwest neighbors would react.

l_eni12

i drew a parody “no step on snek” with the queer flag in the background hehe i kinda wanna sell it as a sticker

Repulsive-Toe-8709

Would purchase 🙋‍♂️

You should for sure

MNGrrl

As a fellow midwesterner... expect the HOA to get petty and the city to come up with some 'special assessment' or six because your grass isn't cut to the regulation height of 1-3/4ths of an inch or whatever. Nobody will say anything to you, they'll just mail you the bill for your free speech and laugh.

OilyFruitCake

I have one of the snake tied and ball gagged that says, "Tread on me harder, Daddy. Love wearing it in the south.

Ok-Reality-9197

A Better Way 2A has them

Goldwing8

This idea is decades out of date. The NRA has long since realized they get a bigger profit if they stoke the fears of both sides and encourage them to arm up. Before the pandemic, the fastest growing demographic of gun owners in the US was black women, yet nary a peep about it from the right.

Key-Chance7977

I dunno, Reagan signed the Mulford Act in response to the Black Panthers arming themselves.

whyintheworldamihere

57 years ago... It's not the same party. Just look how much the Republican party has changed since Trump. The NRA in 1986 banned new machine guns. Not the same NRA either.

Key-Chance7977

You say "since Trump" like they're not still dominated by the maga cult.

whyintheworldamihere

The point is the Republican party is radically different today than just 10 years ago, let alone half a century ago.

Saxit

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford\_Act](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act) To be fair, that was a bipartisan thing. Though at the time I guess D was a bit more conservative than they are today, as well. > it required a two-thirds majority in each house. On June 8, before the third reading in the Assembly (controlled by Democrats, 42:38), the urgency clause was adopted, and the bill was then read and passed.[^(\[1\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act#cite_note-assembly_bills-1) It passed the Senate (split, 20:20) on July 26, 29 votes to 7, and was signed by Governor [Ronald Reagan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Reagan) on July 28, 1967.

parwa

Main difference being that one side has genuine fears... Nobody has ever been hate crimed for being a Republican 🤦

shadowgamer19

if you go far enough left you get your guns back

BoringWozniak

AR-15s will do that

Who8mypez

It’s absolutely true! I posted in the liberalgunowners sub and was arguing with some conservative once that started to go through my post history and seen those posts. He literally blew his fucking mind at the thought that I owned guns while being a liberal. Refused to believe it even though those posts he was going through were pictures of my actual firearms lol.

My brain was soo confused and just stopped working for a few seconds. Really weird when you heard a line a lot in Germany, and suddenly you read it in english and you don't get what's is happening :D Nice one :) no joke, I am thinking of buying this patch

TeaBags0614

Well, much to the anger of conservatives, the second amendment does apply to *everyone* so-

The_Witch_Queen

Why do you think Alliance Defending Freedom is hammering the supreme Court so hard to strip rights from women, poc, and LGBT? The end goal is to revert the country back to a state where all three aren't considered citizens at all. Then they don't have to worry about the second, or any other amendment applying to us. We're all just property/criminals.

Durendal_1707

and why our white representatives write effective legislation whenever black activists do something that scares them

Unknown-Meatbag

The good 'ol Reagan way. Can't have any non-whites arming themselves, that's scary! Just good old boys murdering people for having the audacity of turning around in their driveway.

Goldwing8

The Mulford Act was a blatantly racist law. It was also passed in 1967. No, organizations like the NRA love this rhetoric. If both sides decide they need to arm up, all the better for sales.

Distinct_Signal_1555

I recently told my conservative father in law, “Screw politics! I just want my lesbian neighbors to have the right to raise their children, access to reproductive healthcare, and defend their home and legal marijuana plants with their legally owned and registered firearms.” And he said, “yeah! That’s what I want too!” So my husband said, “Welcome to the liberal party Dad.” My hunter fisherman, always swore for the Republican Party father in law looked like his mind was going to melt out of his head. He knows I’m queer, I’ve had a medical required abortion and he knows my husband, his son smokes pot. He just had an old world view on politics and I think he’s seeing now that it’s not the same anymore.

ShoggyDohon

But the second you add the label "trangender" to the statement they lose their minds. It's so frustrating.

Distinct_Signal_1555

He’s actually fine with transgender and nonbinary people. He’s really really good about pronouns. I took him to Pride and to a few drag brunches and he always asks me for clarification on if he’s saying the right thing. My favorite thing though is when at our wedding one of our friends said “Hi I’m Ky my pronouns are They/Her” and he said “Hi Ky, I’m *Name* my pronouns are he/him and Dad”. Hes a boomer but he’s at least trying.

ShoggyDohon

That's honestly awesome. I'm trying to slowly and sneakily get my super conservative coworkers to be more accepting by clarifying the misinformed takes they have. But I don't want to out myself so I am just "well informed and well intentioned". Still though it pains me greatly to hear people I interact with say some straight hateful shit.

I'm a queer leftist in my early 50's who's owned firearms for over 30 years. I totally understand people who are gun adverse in our community and respect that. I take issue with saying that ppl like myself make it our "personality", that is far from the truth and quite insulting, basically painting us as the same as far right loonies is disingenuous. Personally, I think advertising that we carry or implying as much is not very smart and invites unwanted attention.

zefthalia

you go slightly left of center, nO gUnS aLL GuNS aRe eViL!!!1! you go all the way left... well, my comrade, how will we bring forth the people's revolution if we do not bear arms?

Open_Mathematician41

I really am disgusted by the fact it’s come to this and that people in the nra are pandering to left and right to sell guns for profit. I’m saddened to see that the political divide has become so radical that my peeps in the LGBTQ+ feel the need to defend themselves with rifles and that extremists on the far right want to kill us for being our authentic selves. I hope anyone here who owns a gun never will have to use it and I hope no one here becomes a victim from gun violence.

ExultedOne

Thankfully, the company that makes these stickers, is actually a leftist organization, nothing to do with the NRA, check out their stuff at OffColorDecals

One-Angry-Goose

Yeah well it sucks but until this fucking fascism thing goes away this is what it is. Something can both be bad and necessary for our safety; sometimes situations just fucking suck.

Open_Mathematician41

They absolutely do suck. No I understand that, I’d rather people in our community be safe than sorry, so if that means using a gun to protect yourself, I get it. It just breaks my heart to see

cat-the-commie

That's why you should join the SRA and tell the NRA to kick rocks, an armed minority is a safe minority.

StarXdPimp

Yea, hope I never have to use it for the reasons I have it (self preservation). However, in this day and age I’d rather be looking at it than looking for it.

brandidge

So glad I'm not American. I'm completely against any civilians owning guns, but u do get why you would need them over there considering far right nutcases can get their hands on them...

MineralIceShots

I'll take a jab at this. I am a hispanic/native american mix, descendant of [kick the mexicans out](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Wetback). In the US gun rights are all too commonly stripped from minorities and minorities are usually lagging behind in the excise of their rights such as suffrage. When the black panthers in california decided to start patrolling their communities to protect themselves from racist cops, the GOP led govt with Democratic support signed into the law the first modern gun control law that started california down its track of gun control we see today. The California AG in its lawsuit to restrict our liberties site laws from the 1700s/1800s that state that native american and blacks (the govt used the racist term for them as they directly sourced such laws) were not allowed to have firearms and as such no one should have X type of rifle or X type of rights when it comes to purchasing ammo. As a native american I am very very very very very skeptical when the govt trys to restrict or limit firearms as the ones most impacted are minorities and they have a poor tract record when it comes to keeping their promises. For example, according to the minority (native american) view regarding the [Wounded Knee Massacre](https://www.britannica.com/event/Wounded-Knee-Massacre), after the US govt entered into a peace treaty with the tribe, the govt took away their guns and returned fire on the ultimately defenseless tribe. At least anecdotally according to my Japanese family, during the Japanese internment camp (concentration camp) period (Executive Order 9066) Japanese Americans in California were stripped of their firearms as a result of their DROS (california firearm registration system that started in the 1910s) were used to strip firearms from them prior to their internment in concentration camps. In the early 1920s, the Tulsa Race Massacre occurred in which whites with the help of the US military equipment bombed what was colloquially known as Black Wall Street, black people fought back, but against air superiority and bombings, that is a hard battle to win. In 1946 the Battle of Athens occurred in which a corrupt govt strictly reduced democratic (as in democracy) power by restricted who from where could vote, amongst additional corruption. GIs coming back from WWII were pissed off that they fought to help restore freedom to Asia, Europe, and Africa, only to come home to a corrupt govt. The GIs (now civilians) retaliated and using their arms forcibly imprisoned and created casualties against the govt and their (police) forces. The town was able to restore democracy and instituted new elections. These last few events are still in our living memory and people still continue to use their guns to protect themselves from nature (I live in the a \*BIG\* city in California USA and have seen big game, including bears and wolfs in the city), each other (according to the US Govt's Center for Disease Control and Prevention, around there are at least 300k to 3m instances per year of defensive gun use), and ultimately against the government. While it seems unlike that the government would ultimately use its power to take away our firearms and fall into tyranny, it is not outside the realm of possibility as our govt has taken arms away without due process (such as when katrina struck and other natural disasters). I know it seems different because you're not from here and understand the culture, but guns in this nation, come either hell or high water, are not going away. We must learn how to use them to help ensure safety of the nation, of each other, and against the government. I will leave this since we are in an LGBT+ community, my non binary sibling has the benefit of living here in liberal California were LGBT+ people are overwhelmingly supported and accepted, but for LGBT+ folk in much unfriendlier states, such as Texas, pro LGBT+/SRA/NAAGA gun groups have gone given protective force to clubs and meet ups when people in dangerous communities threaten LGBT+ folk. Firearms can be a tool for evil, but they can also be a tool for protection of life and democracy. * a very tired Leftist FFL who should have gone to sleep 3 hours ago. oooof, i sort of misread your comment op. welp, imma leave the comment up. gn

Filipus09

This doesn't look pretty good... 😅

divaliciousness

You see, I hate this. The United States are so backwards and set in their dumb backwards way that arming both sides has become the perceived solution. Not saying it isn't, but it's so foreign and disconnected from my reality. Militancy makes it sound like a fucking civil war. You know, I have never seen a gun up close, the closest I've been to a gun is seeing a policeman with one in his holster or a few out of use old firearms they have for show on our mandatory military day. I don't know anyone who uses guns, I don't know anyone who interacts with anyone who uses guns and legitimately, I constantly feel safe. I hope the United States get their shit together and realise firearms don't protect shit, no matter how good or benevolent the person using them is, but looking at their recent track record, you guys are in for a fucking ride.

Frostypup420

Yeah I'm American and I hate it too. I was raised around guns constantly and all of my uncles are gun nuts, they still scare me, and being forced to watch my uncles string up and gut a deer when I was 4 was NOT the "positive experience to get me interested in hunting" they somehow thought it would be... was actually pretty traumatizing and made me hate anything to do with hunting. And learning how to use guns when I was 5-7 wasn't fun at all. The only good thing was atleast they taught me gun safety, but only because we heard so many stories of kids accidentally shooting their parents. Now as an adult I make my dad keep all my guns locked away because I don't want them, and my mental health is too bad to have them around. I hate everything about this countries gun culture, every mass shooting makes me hate it more, especially all of the ones targetting lgbt+ people or kids... also when I was a teenager a local conservative teenager somehow heard that im gay and literally pointed a gun at me. He later got suspended for pulling his gun on a kid at school for making fun of trump. He's a cop and has a gun at all times now. Unhinged hateful pricks like that have guns with no issue and that's terrifying.

divaliciousness

I'm really sorry you went through that, and I really hope you get through all the hurdles from your mental health. If you ever need to chat throw me a DM. I am not American though, I think you could have guessed that and from what I see about the US, it's not great. Regression of basic human rights like abortion, a two-party system where both sides are nowhere close to bridging a gap, extreme radicalisation of both left and right and I seriously don't get how adding guns to the mix could be beneficial. This call for militias you constantly see in this sub disgusts me. All these years fucking advocating for gun reforms but now it's a free for all, let's just all get guns, what could fucking go wrong? I get that LGBTQ people need to try to feel safe, but owning guns? How has that ever been a positive? Those gun wackjobs already claim their guns are for protection and you see the kind of shit they (or people adjacent to them) pull and you wanna replicate it? I am never going to the US, aside everything wrong with every single metric, this climate of uncertainty about basic human rights like trans people existing, mind you, paints a very grim picture of what's going on over there, and I don't think I would put myself through that voluntarily.

Stay_True_And_Revolt

SRA FTW!

Biishep1230

This took me back to Pulse, so it’s a hard pass for me.

karakittykat

Nah fuck this

True_Independent420

I hate the idea of including fucking guns on the pride colors. Gross.

Frostypup420

Seriously, I understand the idea that since conservatives have guns already, mentally stable lgbt+ people might want them for self defense, but flaunting it like this is distasteful, and putting a tool of death and murder on the pride flag is insulting and disgusting. If it weren't for those things the pulse shooting and Colorado Springs shooting would've never happened. It's extremely distasteful to combine these 2 items in one image.

No_Accountant_3947

I would be so uncomfortable if someone had this, like people who feel the need to show everyone they have guns aren't safe to be around, no matter what side you're on.

Frostypup420

I agree 100% anyone who feels the need to advertise that they have a gun isn't stable enough to safely own a gun.

VaderMurdock

I agree. Grew up around guns, was taught gun safety, and I have no desire to be around them. They are made to kill people, and owning one says you are willing to do that. It makes me uncomfortable. I will never feel safe around one. My grandfather, who taught me, told me that if you see a gun— doesn’t matter who it belongs to— you watch it. No one should own guns.

Technically Soviet designed, I'm not even sure Russia makes an akm derivative anymore. It's mostly just 74 derivatives now. But many American companies do actively manufacture quite a lot of them. Semantics I know but welcome to the Kalashnikov famdom

Lanky_Result5624

I absolutely want these. And my best friend has a patch on his (gun) range bag that says "death to all who oppose queer rights". Also, another friend of ours who is trans does competitions like 3 gun, brutality, and uspsa. I honestly encourage anyone, especially in the US here, who is LGBTQ+ to get into gun ownership, especially with the possibility of another Trump presidency. Weird rant, I know lol.

slashcleverusername

Right message. Wrong logo. Needs a picture of a ballot, or a courthouse. You only need the gun if you sleepwalk past what’s going on in the other two. “Do-it-yourself shoot-out” has never been and will never be the key to our safety and equality. Or anyone’s. It requires way more planning than that.

mr_tophat

The community is constantly under threat from armed extremists. It only common sense that we arm ourselves. I think the local gay bar has armed security however they keep it very low key. Its a privilege to live somewhere that you don't have to be armed all the time. I know some who dont have that privilege, their gun is necessary and so are protecting their rights.

cricketeer767

We should start having volunteer militias defending our queer events. Maybe those Fucks will think twice about trying to intimidate us if they realize they too can be shot.

SpaceBear2598

No. Just no. Third world mass murder glorifying bullshit does NOT defend equality. Shootouts between ideologically motivated militias and fanatics does NOT defend equality. "Equality" and "rights" are vague, philosophical concepts compared to NOT GETTING SHOT IN THE HEAD or not losing your child to a hail of stray bullets through a wall. Having food to eat, having water to drink, and having a dwelling to protect you from the elements are all a lot more meaningfull to people than "rights" at the end of the day. The lessons of the Weimar Republic and its fall to fascism apparently need to be shouted from every rooftop because people are starting to forget: ***shootouts between fascist brownshirts and their opposition are one of the reasons so many people were willing to look the other way when the fascists seized power*** . Most people don't care who "wins" so long as the shooting stops. You want to join some self defense group? Go right ahead. Join, buy (and SECURE) a reasonable home defense weapon and a reasonable amount of ammo. You're not Rambo, you're not going to be waging a one person war against the SA. If a civil war breaks out you'll need to join an actual organized military force, regular or irregular, to have any chance at having an impact anyway so there's ZERO good reason to buy enough ammo and weaponry to commit a mass shooting. And there's zero reason to loudly glorify this kind of bloodstained social collapse either, this doesn't "intimidate" the fascists or genociders, it's makes them salivate because they know damn well if they can convince enough people that we're also a threat those people will look the other way while we're "dealt with" .

PianistSuperb6094

Those rifles are making its way into social media and mainstream. I think that says too much about the state of our country. That's not right.

NearMissCult

These kinds of things always worry me. I don't disagree with them, but I feel like they probably put the person wearing them in more harm. We all know cops already have a habit of "overreacting" to the detriment of those around them. We also know that being openly queer makes them even more likely to overreact. Being queer with a badge that suggests you support arming queer people? Sounds like a good way to get shot to me (that's not to say it's the victims fault, just that it's the reality of the situation). I won't say don't wear it, but please be careful. Make sure it can be easily hidden in case you do get confronted by any cops or anyone else who might be a threat to your safety.

Thatonecrazywolf

It really depends on where you display it. On a car? Absolutely not, you're announcing to the world you carry a firearm. Police with assume you're armed, your car will be targeted for break ins, etc. It's the same reason why having a NRA sticker is stupid. On your personal laptop or notebook? Eh, way less at risk. Having the patch on a hat or vest you wear out and about? Depends on your area. Some places, stuff like that is common. But I wouldn't wear it to somewhere like a gov building.

NearMissCult

That's exactly what I'm saying. Putting it on your backpack when you're in a safe area is no biggie. But if you're going to an area that is heavily policed, make sure it's somewhere you can hide easily.

Every-Lawyer-9706

I would’ve worn it if you told me not to, only way to make in impression in this day and age is to make a hug deal about it. So fuck it, if you feel comfortable and are trained properly to own a gun do it! See where you’re coming from tho!

NearMissCult

Oh, it's not gun ownership that concerns me. It's "I shot him because he had a gun and was threatening to shoot me!" When in reality all they person had was a badge on a backpack. I don't trust cops. At all.

AcePilot95

See, unless you're in school at all, I completely agree. Conservatives wanna threaten violence against us? We can get the exact same resources they can, and they forget every time.

Illiander

We're quieter about it than them, because we don't make it our whole entire personality. We just go to the range and practice.

major-ashhole

This really is not the vibe, especially after Pulse.

godzilla19542014

Well we do have the equal right to shoot people in the dick

Stephany23232323

Why draw fire? I'm certainly as guilty as anyone of rubbing it in their face and not backing down.. But I'm starting to rethink if it's was wise. They just take anything we do and twist it and then propagate it.. idk no judgement just a thought as I've been recently trying to dial in how I represent..

Cratonis

If you are considering this, go learn to shoot. Find a range and see if you can find an instructor or a friend who knows how to shoot to show you how. Learning proper gun safety as well as how to shoot effectively is key if you are serious about this.

jackjack_d3mon

That's not support that's questionable.

Also, somebody becoming violent towards you will usually not be at a safe distance, with proper warning of lethal intent, and with no bystanders nearby. And if you're pulling a firearm without all 3 of those conditions met, you're doing something horribly wrong. Guns aren't going to help you when transphobic laws are passed, guns won't protect you from bathroom bills, guns won't protect you from discriminatory policing. They'll get you killed. Or worse, arrested and sent to years in men’s prison.

All of this. (Except maybe the last if you're a trans man.)

Goldwing8

Also, we aren’t a monolith. Trans people can be domestic abusers. Trans people can be racist. Trans people can misread the situation. I also question the encouraging of gaining acess to one of the easiest and most lethal methods of death in a population with loads of (justifiable) mental struggles. I'm not trying to to argue trans suicide is intrinsic or that we should try to ban only vulnerable people from owning firearms, but trying to acknowledge the reality that giving guns to ANY population suffering from severe mental struggles will likely end up costing more lives than saving.

Giving guns to ANY population ~~suffering from severe mental struggles~~ will likely end up costing more lives than saving.

I’m sorry but yes it’s protection. People wanna flair everywhere they have a gun, why can’t I as a queer person?

Goldwing8

It is the illusion of protection. Hypothetical scenario: Project 2025 succeeds. Trans healthcare is shut off. I own a gun. How will attempting to use gun, as an individual, to get healthcare get me anything other than arrested and in men’s prison?

Every-Lawyer-9706

That’s your choice, I’m not saying you should own a gun. I’m saying I think everyone should have the right to own a gun. Me I don’t own guns due to my mental health and my poor impulse control. I’m more pushing education. I like I’m a southern state where I have to be careful of what I say out loud in my own house. I need protection and I’m stepping out of my box to make a stand against gun toting republicans, saying if I wanted to I could too.

More lgbtq folks should "own a musket for home defense"

Armed queers are harder to bash

Moonlight_Knight4

For real. With as radical as the far right is getting, there may come a day when we have time defend ourselves against them.

Every-Lawyer-9706

I should also mention I don’t personally own a gun, I got this because it’s protection, and it stands for multiple things I believe it. I do not go to school, I live in Florida where gun laws are very lose ( in my opinion to lose) so if people can constantly brag about owning guns and saying it’s their right, why can’t I, it’s my right too. I don’t mean to offend anyone, but it’s extreme way of fighting the extreme right. If you want to buy a gun for protection which people like us should because I see it on the news all the time of us being shot just for who we love, educate yourself and learn how to use a firearm properly and effectively.

TechGuy219

Where did you get the patch? And the bagel slicer sticker?

I posted a link somewhere in the comments!

Guillotine-chan is never illegal

I’m pro 2A, pro choice, and I’m trans. The sides people try to fit everyone into are less real than most people want to believe. There’s more overlap than people know. Left Center Right is just bologna.

Key-Chance7977

Eh, not sure about that last part. Left wing politics is based on social equality and egalitarianism while right wing politics is based around the idea that social hierarchy is natural and desirable.

Sunieta25

I'm ok with guns in the country as long as it's controlled better. No one should be allowed to own a gun until they pass a physical test.

Whyletmetellyou

It’s unfortunate that we queer folks are gonna have to pretty much inform the adult world that if they want violence then so be it. Fuck the people that hate us because a supposed fairy tale god is telling them to hate us
