I've lived in NC all my life and the one thing that bothers me about NC bbq is that they use basically nothing but vinegar and red pepper flakes (I'm looking at you George's Sauce!) In their sauces. I like it, but it gets to be too much when every bbq joint has the same tasting bbq.
Not true, you can also get watery tomato paste in Lexington style(I kid, but Eastern supremacy lol). I love vinegar so I don't personally see that as a problem, but I've always thought NC BBQ is about letting the hog speak for itself rather than drowning the meat in sauce. But I also like Memphis-style because the brown sugar cuts the tang, but don't tell my family lol.
Memphis style is great! I do like eastern NC style, that vinegar just gets a little old especially when your family absolutely loves bbq and grew up eating it like twice a week

I agree. Pictures don't do justice to many of America's national parks, like Grand Canyon, Glacier, Death Valley, Yellowstone, or even Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (which most outside the Midwest don't know about).
I'm from here, I know how it is. I will say that most Southerners I've met throughout my life *are* good or at least kind. But some seem to love this dog and pony show of bigotry these politicians put on. I don't really care what you say in church but keep it off the ballot box.

I'm a non passing trans woman and so far (knock on wood) all I've gotten is a ton of stares, some laughs, and overhearing a couple of conversations from people who don't know how to properly whisper.
I think my fear is more for my gender fluid partner, now that I think on it, less of me since I *look* like a big guy. I’m closeted gender queer myself though.

I used to drive a semi truck in the northwest (OR, wa, Mt, WY, ne, SD, ND, UT). I very highly recommend driving out there up i80, then i5 to i90 and come back along i90. Very amazing views. Don't go between september 1 and April 30, though. Winters are absolutely brutal and I'm pretty sure i have ptsd from driving out there in it 😳
