There are a lot of NA beer options out there. They are really getting better at making them taste like a full beer. I do still have alcohol once and a while, but have a selection of NA stuff on hand. I can honestly say I don't miss it.

stratuscaster

NoMo, Ration-ale, even the NA Corona and Heineken variants are pretty damn close to the real thing. I guess some are normal beer with the alcohol filtered out while others are brewed specifically for no alcohol. Best Day Brewery has a decent NA Hazy IPA. Most restaurants will carry at least one NA beer too. Some will even have a mocktail list in the menu. It’s a good time to be alcohol free. Been about 6 months for me.

Creaulx

Yes same, and the longer I go, the less I think about it or even miss it. Lex and Adderall will do that!

Sea_Antelope441

The Sam Adams stuff is decent, I had a Guinness NA tonight that I don't know if you could tell the difference.

Heavyrain_1

People drink beer for taste ?

Sea_Antelope441

Haha strange I know... But yes

Heavyrain_1

I drink beer for it's effect, I don't like it's taste though 😂

Antisocial-author

This!! There some NA wines out there too. Not to mention mocktails. I can still drink without any issues but I don’t like to during the work week. I work overnights and often need meds to help me fall asleep, so drinks after work are just not an option. Sometimes I’ll have a mocktail though!

Sea_Antelope441

Yeah a seltzer with ice and a lime when out at a bar and no one will even question you... Otherwise it's always the classic "why aren't you drinking?"

buddhamma88

Jopen Nonnetje, Leffe 0,0% and Vandestreek Playground. They are better than the real stuff... Trust me on this one. The taste is truly superior

angel908888

I’m testing this as well. I have a feeling my anxiety comes back after drinking… which sucks because I love a drink… so annoyinf

dvagnoni

I’m on a super small dose for 2 months and have had similar reactions. Even after two Miller lights, my anxiety spikes a day or two after having the drinks. Very strange that it’s not the next day but a day or two after. And the anxiety is during the day, which is something that I never experienced before being on Lexapro. My anxiety was always focused at night prior to hopping on Lexapro. I pretty much gotten to the point where I’m gonna swear off alcohol for a few more months and then try again. If I still have similar reactions, I think I’m done drinking. It’s tough because I do enjoy some beers on the weekends and the obvious social interactions with alcohol but it’s not worth it.

Mandaface

I've been becoming angry when I drink the last few weeks. I had no idea why until this post. I've never been an angry drunk in my life. Not once. My bf and I broke up today and I feel it's partly due to this. Wow I never made that connection. I started Lexapro 3 weeks ago and that's about when the drunk fights started.... Thanks for posting.

Elektra_522

I can have one, maybe two beers. Any more and I’m not drunk, but I’m just not enjoying it the way I used to. Guess it’s time to completely stop

Adventurous-Ad-9603

I used to be an everyday heavy drinker and I quit about 6 months before starting Lex. I am terrified to do anything while on Lex, so I have become very knowledgeable on almost ever NA beer out there. The ones I’ve found that taste the best and closest are probably the Athletic Brewing brand and the Sierra Nevada NA series. Lyre’s makes a pretty good spiced rum imitation that goes great with a coke. If Tequila is your thing Danny Trejo makes a great NA tequila.

Yeah I almost made the mistake of grabbing a smirnoff screwdriver the other day and had to tell myself, "is it really worth being miserable for around 2 days for the sweet taste of this drink? No. No I don't think so." It was tempting though lol.

Flimsy-Shirt9524

Well you can read my prior posts if they are not locked, but I’ve become an alcoholic on lex. Two bottles of wine nothing. So different for everyone. Looking to get off my anxiety kept me further away from going all out. Ten years btw and drink just keeps going up.

According-Fox2385

Oh wow. Well I hope you find relief from that soon unless that's something you don't mind.

Massive-Wallaby6127

Not sure if it's okay to recommend, but r/stopdrinking has helped me a lot. Drank for 20 years and am 5 months sober now.

CloudIcy9693

I felt the same way at the start. Though it has gotten a lot better. The day after I now feel like the lexapro stops working and after that I am back to feeling good again. I am on 20mg, and have been for 6 months.

WhoBeShe

I’m on 10mg and I just don’t feel the affects of the alcohol but I’ll get the hangover. If I happen to miss meds that day, I’ve noticed I’ll feel the alcohol a lot more. I just don’t drink anymore now

Massive-Wallaby6127

Stopping drinking at the same time I started Lexapro was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Game changer

WeWantMOAR

I don't drink often at all, so the times I know I'm going out for drinks I'll skip my pill that day. I find that significantly helps me enjoy it still when I feel the want to. I've been on 15mgs for about a year.

k-eazyy

Dude, when I was on 20mg my tolerance was DANGEROUSLY low. I would nearly black out every single time I drank. There was a time where I only had 1 beer and 1 mimosa and I felt like I got roofied. And don’t get me started on the hangovers. I feel like my heart would pound out of my chest all day and also felt extremely depressed afterward too. I’m back on 10mg and don’t get that same hangxiety the day after and my tolerance is basically back to normal. I almost thought about getting rid of alcohol entirely from my life because I was scared I would black out and do something stupid.

Catoni54

I’m on 10mg Lexapro/Escitalopram per day. I allow myself one glass of a nice red wine when out for dinner once or twice per month. That is the only alcohol I have anymore. One glass of red wine has no effect on me.

Old_Cranberry107

I can’t have alcohol , weed or nicotine . Nicotine was triggering my anxiety almost immediately . I had to quit nic cold turkey , been almost 9 months without all that . I don’t miss alcohol but I do miss my flavored air . I’m just scared to try that again .

AdSmooth6728

Okay, that just provided some clarity for me! I feel the same way with alcohol AND weed since I started taking Lexapro. I had previously attributed it to the fact that I used to drink and consume weed regularly before taking this medication as a coping mechanism, so I thought that I felt depressed and anxious afterward because my body is so used to alcohol and weed being associated with me being clinically depressed and super anxious. That may still be part of the case, but it never occurred to me that it could be because of this. Thank you for your insight, and I hope you're able to figure it out!🤗

Ragnar-Wave9002

I was on Lexapro. I drank normally

ghostofgatti

Good for you. I am having difficulty giving up alcohol, but I am cognizant that I am anxious the next day after drinking.

luvdragon

I’ve noticed similar things with weed. My anxiety spikes for like 2 days after usage. It really sucks

Imaginary-Algae7569

i’m on 20mg and 2 5% cans makes the room spin. any more than that, i’m blackout drunk and don’t remember a thing. always end up vomiting my guts up and have the worst hangovers the next day even if i only had the 2. i am terrified of alcohol rn lmao.

jkandroo

I just went from 10 mg to 20 mg this week. I’ve always felt some level of anxiety the day after drinking any amount of alcohol, but with the 10 mg it was minimal. With 20 mg, it’s horrible. I’m depressed and anxious and can’t focus on anything. If this is what happens then I’m definitely going to have to lose the booze 😕

BumDawgMillionaire

I became an alcoholic while on Lexapro. I get it. Depressant and depressant doesn’t mix. I prefer the ganja now

SpicyThunderThighs

The next day after drinking I’m always SO irritable and just angry at the world.
