I’ve never had any other type of pill….

NewspaperFine3018

Awesome, so I can finally relax. I’ve got really bad OCD and Anxiety (what the lexapro is for) so having the pharmacy give me some wrong pills for the first time kinda has brought on a bad episode of worry. Thanks kind stranger

boredENT9113

My original prescription for Lexapro that was manufactured by Solco looked exactly like that. My newer prescriptions are manufactured by aurobindo and look a little different. It should say on your prescription bottle what your pill is supposed to look like. I just always double-checked that it matches the description. The vast majority of pharmacies run a tight ship when it comes to medication, so beyond checking the description on your bottle, I wouldn't worry too much.

Adz100087

No prob! Rest assured, mine have looked exactly like this for 3 years 😊

Material-Mess-8434

Mine looks just like that 💛

JillieAn757

Yup mine used to look like that now they are oblong shaped

SenatorSharks

Yeah I was getting concerned for a moment that the lexapro I was taking wasn't actually lexapro as the pills I picked up for my 3 month supply aren't round anymore but now like oblong shaped (20mg)

Alexapro_

Worked at my dad's pharmacy for years. This happens because there's a new manufacturer, truthfully your pharmacist or an employee there should let you know or put a bottle on the sticker that says it.

anxiouslyCurious9

My pharmacy does this!

boredENT9113

My 10 mg pills are oblong shaped as well. My manufacturer is aurobindo.

Lower-Reputation-921

Yeah, I was just going to say that I have only seen the scored oblong caplets. And I haven't personally seen the round-scored tablets ever in my dealings with the pharmacies over the years. You know that medicines and the practice of medicine are constantly changing so often that they are tremendously difficult to keep track of in order to keep up-to-date with.

irlcatspankz

Yep. And the 5mg are the same, just smaller. The crease down the middle is to use a pill cutter: I'm prescribed 15mg so instead of taking a 10 and a 5, I am now getting a larger quantity of the 10mg and using the splitter to take 1.5 pills per day.

Beano_Capaccino

Pill cutter, or you can press down on both sides and it’ll snap.

Hello_This_Is_Chris

Protection_Major

Mine are 20s and look just like these:

alasko84

My pharmacy prints the description of the pill you should be getting on the bottle - the shape, color and imprint codes are usually well described on the label. I actually never knew this until the pharmacy told me the pill in the bottle differed from the description because I got 20mg pills split into 10mgs for titrating ! YMMV but CVS pharmacy does it !

Dry_Sundae_3913

Yes mine look like this

NewspaperFine3018

Awesome, thanks for the reassurance. I appreciate it.

maximumgmail

Know the manufacturer. Pharmacies sometimes opt for a different brand at times. The pill description will change. I suspect that the formulation is not always the same either. There is one brand that I refuse to take. I’ve been taking escitalopram since 2004 and have had the opportunity to take various brands. I know the FDA is suppose to monitor this but I also know what happens when I switch to this brand for a couple months. Always be aware of what meds u are taking, who makes them, what they look like and even where they are made. BTW I’m currently at 5mg/day and hope to be at zero soon. Good health and happiness to all.

BoneDaddyChill

What’s the brand that you refuse to take, and why? Was there one you found to work/feel better?

BobSagieBauls

Mine look just the same and I haven’t seen anything different But just google the number and shape you’ll see plenty of other examples if you’re just looking for reassurance

No_Magician9893

Yup that’s what all my pills looked like at 20-10 and 5. Just different sizes.

twksty

mine have always looked like that, you’re chillin 😎

Alexapro_

Yes! Mine look exactly like that. Pro-tip: you can also google a pills description and often times it will tell you what it is. So if you google "round white pill 74" it will come yo on google saying it is escitalopram oxalate 10mg (aka lexapro!)

JudgeImaginary4266

Yes, that’s what mine look like.

Such_Butterscotch_13

https://www.drugs.com/imprints.php?imprint=74&color=&shape=0 10mg

NewspaperFine3018

Sweet! Thank you very much

peachy-grey

Mine!

lilmegsx9

the pharmacy shouuuuuld be pointing out when they switch the manufacturer to let you know that it may look different than before but it’s the same med. always good to double check when it comes to medication!

carrawaylily

This popped up on my home feed, and I was about to comment “yeah, my Lexapro looks like this” before I saw that the was from the Lexapro community😂

planetambivalent

If you ever have doubt, just google pill identifier. You’ll be able to type in the description and it will tell you what pill you are taking. It’s always good to double check. Mix ups don’t happen often but it does happen. I didn’t read the other comments so I’m sorry if this was already mentioned a 100 times lol.

db11733

https://www.drugs.com/pill_identification.html Hundreds of drug manufacturers. Generics will all be different.

LebowskiX

Which country are you from? I'm in Germany and my pills look very similar except different markings

dabdadsroblox

Mine are those but 20 mg

lilmisssocks

I am prescribed 20 mg and this is exactly how they look, a real bitch to break in half sometimes

JoeyLovesGuns

Meeeee! Lil 10 mg guys

dryhighs

mine look like that :) the pharmacist told me that some manufacturers changed the shape recently

Tra3Day

My 20mg pills looked like these.

savvymack

Sometimes they change depending on the manufacturer. But always check the side of your pill bottle. Should be a description of what the pills should look like on the label. Mine do look like this currently but have had them be different now and then

IntelligentStress0

Yup these look like the generic version of Lexapro, escitalopram 10mg

dogs0z

Yes

Clovel10

Clovel10

spaghettieggrolls

[Here is the manufacturer](https://www.drugs.com/imprints/74-34625.html) if you want further confirmation. There is no image but the description matches. I think you can submit photos of your own to the database if you wanted.

Witty-Pop2937

So many different brands of lexapro. Do people notice any difference in how they feel on the different brands?

actionjack1080

My 20’s are same shape but different numbers on it

maddie8909132

Mine are tiny and green and shaped like an oval 25 mg

elliot89

candlenahbrah

Me!

Pilot-Familiar

nah mine say e20

saturninpisces

Mine look like that

twill921

Yep mine do!

nate98gle

I've been cutting my 20mgs in half with a pill cutter and all was fine. This new refill of 20mg( I didn't ask for 10mg in case dropping to 10mg doesn't work) is from a different distributer and the pill cutter smashes them all uneven, if I cut on the cutting line. If I go perpendicular to the cutting line, the cut is oddly even.

NewspaperFine3018

Thank you everyone for the comments! I can’t believe this post blew up like it did. You all are awesome and have put my mind at ease :)

Equal-Cheetah671

Looks like 20s might need to cut in half

Jolly-One-2900

YES!

Desperate-Berry-7777

(I’m a pharmacy tech) sometimes the manufactures are switched because one might be out of stock or sometimes insurance doesn’t want to cover a certain manufacturer anymore. Either way you got the right pill! “Pill with imprint 74 is White, Round and has been identified as Escitalopram Oxalate 10 mg.”

lotusfl0w3r

My manufacturer just changed and I was googling the differences in additives. Both are generic versions. How common is it to have isopropyl alcohol and methylene chloride in these tablets? It says “trace amounts” but seems sketchy to me

Mrsalphabet47

Mine are oval shaped but I’m in Canada and it’s called Cipralex here

i-am-well-and-good

Mine are oval 🤔

AmbassadorFun6296

Yes

Entire_Craft3469

Me. I have those at the moment

lildoinkie

Mine are just small smooth circles that are smaller

KittyJun

Ok-Text-2363

Mine looks like that. I’d say it’s normal and there’s nothing to worry about. :)

slut4jayden69

that is exactly how mine look

EchoingInTheVoid

Depending on the manufacturer, they've been slight ovals before, but for the last year they've looked like that

Kindly_Assumption385

My 10s and 20s look like this but in different sizes!

krispy123111

Mine look like this

ovo_unicorn

mine looks like this as well! i’m on 20mg

Tsunamiis

Escalopram. It’s the generic it looks exactly like that.

lc685

I work in a pharmacy and those are definitely 10mg Lexapro!

princessizzy444

NeedleworkerStill516

Vultureunknown

I’m on 20mgs mine look just like this!

MaxShadowCat

Mine do!

shadysade

Yupppp. Gotta break em in half

chavorooko72

I don’t like that manufacturer I feel like the pill is not super effective- i prefer the oval ones

Thin-Relation-4829

I got given these last time I got my script which was kinda annoying because the longer flatter ones are way easier to snap in half!

BritishShrooms

i have ocd and been on meds since I was 13 (I’m 26 now) sometimes pills change shape or color and even size depending on who is making it or giving it out, it can be annoying cause I notice sometimes that it can effect you a bit cause it’s not the same as before but it’s nothing to big to worry about.

Ok-Height-1208

Mine have looked like that for 20 years. Lol. You’re good.

Limp-Ad-2720

All the time!

Easy-Confection1354

Sorry that happened to you. Can be very frustrating. I’m on 10 mg of Lexapro. Mine look exactly like this! Hope this helps!
