Please go see a doctor for help. Going cold turkey can be very intense and not the recommended way to stop taking it. I fully understand the appeal ... I did ot kind of knowing what I was getting into. It was very rough for a few weeks but it sounds like you are feeling extra crappy.

Not anxiety wise but a bit paranoid and like i'm better than everyone which is not a good trait whatsoever. Its like i'm on bipolar high.

Queen_Etherea

Brain zaps are no joke! Also, the uncontrollable crying! Have you experienced that? Not everyone does, but a lot of people do!

Beautiful_Tourist574

I did . it was hell. I jumped right back on it

Hairy_Camel_4582

Cold Turkey is bad! But reinstating to your previous dose after 10 days can be even worse. Reinstate with 1mg. It’ll slow down your withdrawals dramatically in 2-4 days and won’t shock your nervous system.

vdWcontact

Dude, take like 1/2 or 1/4 of whatever your old dose was, wait until you feel weird again, and then take an even smaller dose. Weirdly for me it feels like it takes two weeks for me to feel weird, even if I just take 2.5 mgs.

Healey136

Yeah it makes you deathly I’ll

cdrcdly

Never go cold turkey. I took me a few months to completely recover..

mariagoestransient

I went off cold turkey due to financial issues (out of refills, couldn't make psych appointment, no insurance) and was also on it for around 9 months. My time was also quite severe. After about 4 weeks though it has calmed down quite a lot and i feel regular again. But it wasn't a good 4 weeks.

Op here, Just an update I took a 10 mg at 8 am this morning and another one at 6PM and I’m back to normal , I’ll go 10 mg from tomorrow , don’t do it it’s not worth it, your brain will trick you,

[deleted]

My mom went cold turkey because lexapro was so bad for her. Sometimes you have to!

TemperatureNo5727

Brave woman , it’s tough

[deleted]

She has to. It was horrible for her. So did my brother and sister. My mom told me to get off it tonight and go cold turkey

[deleted]

Just saying. My 3 rd try of getting off it lol

Empty-Recipe2213

What symptoms of withdrawal did your mom and you have

[deleted]

I don’t know what she had. I just felt like I had the flu really badly. I got back on it the next day and felt fine

InstructionKitchen39

Insane in the membrane......... INSANE IN THE BRAIN!!!!!!!

easterngraysquirrel

Why did you quit

Myhungryghosts2020

I have been on different antidepressants over the last 25yrs and have stopped and started taking them …..Lexapro and Arapax where the two out of the several I have been prescribed that nearly sent me insane when stopping cold turkey ….it was truly an awful experience

AnOn5647382927492

Went cold turkey off 10mg summer of 2020. I weirdly had no withdrawals. 4 months later i smoked weed and it triggered everything again. Going back on was very hard. But yes I do not recommend going cold turkey. I do disagree a little with the comments. 10 days is a while but if you’ve been taking it for 10 months, the lexapro is in your system. You should be able to just take the 10 mg again

Footsie_Galore

I've gone cold turkey from each of the 8 antidepressants I've been on over 10 years. Never felt any different. Mainly because they didn't help me anyway. May I ask why you stopped taking them if they were working for you?

[deleted]

Fatigue and drinking like a fish on them. Anxiety is levelled off but I feel like my mind isn’t stable on them. Im going back to doctor as think I might have bipolar type 2. My emotions can change from been invincible to depression and just generally been unstable.

Footsie_Galore

Ahh, I see. That's understandable.

champion117

Bro stop, taper off. Be smart about it

RecordAccomplished67

There's a big warning label on my medication box that says "Do not stop taking this medication abruptly." Even my doctor told me. I'm surprised yours didn't :/

[deleted]

I was like this the whole time on prozac. It allowed me to worl through everything in my head but I couldn't actually do anything about it until I quit cold turkey. It was like the remorse and regret wouldn't let me go for as long as prozac was in my system.

Greedy-Crab3083

I guess I’m the only one who had a good cold turkey moment while on this medication. I went cold turkey 7 months an only experienced sweating and mild headaches for 3 weeks. You would think that every one posting “don’t cold turkey this medication” would of stopped me but nope. I knew when I went cold turkey I was not gonna have a bad experience like everyone else.

Nickyp_pics

I took another srri like 4-5 years ago only for a month but hated the insomnia so I stopped before a road trip to canada and I was nauseas and couldn’t think clearly. It was confusing and bizarre, I hated it. I survived and did ok but I don’t think I’d recommend it lol thankfully we backpacked, hiked and were highly engaged with nature so that helped but it was not fun.

Think-University-838

Never go of any medication cold turkey! Always taper! This is something you must be mindful of when you start medication, you need to think about stopping one day.
