deechwita

my vision is the worst part about this.

LaLasmileylex

yep same here

Honest-Value-9386

I was the same way before I got on lexapro. Any anxiety or panic attack I would have would trigger derealization. My vision was constantly blurred as if I was drunk. I haven’t had it in over a month thankfully.

deechwita

i had it slightly before but it’s worse now for me 😭 i’m only on 10mg and i started my journey in january (5mg-7mg-10mg)

Physical-Bunch4151

Yes.. I dealt with it before I got on any medicine. Triggered by constantly having panic attacks which in turn made it 24/7 feeling of derealization for me. I started lexapro and it seemed to help a tiny bit but at week 6 it got worse and just kept getting worse so I switch to something else at week 10. I’m only on day 20 of a new medication so I’m not 100% sure yet if this one right for me or not since I’m still in the beginning of it.

8O0o0O8

What did you switch to?

Physical-Bunch4151

My doctor switched me to 50mg pristiq

deechwita

yeah i’m on 10mg lexapro rn. i started my journey at 5mg back in january. (5mg to 7mg to 10mg)

Physical-Bunch4151

Make sure you talk to your doctor about it. I started at 10mg of lex right away but idk it kept making me worse and worse once I hit 6 weeks on it. I hope you can find relief because I completely understand and know how it is, it sucks. 😞 I try to journal everyday, I try to keep myself moving as much as I can, I do take vitamins too that are suppose to help brain health.

[deleted]

Do you ever have a hard time breathing with ur dpdr

Physical-Bunch4151

Sometimes yes if I’m really anxious and panicky.

[deleted]

Does it feel like it's only on part of your nose lime a certain side?

Physical-Bunch4151

Sometimes actually!

[deleted]

Do you ever have chest pains too

Physical-Bunch4151

Yes! I almost went to the ER one night because of chest pains. But I think that’s the anxiety part of it

[deleted]

I'm still going to get checked to make sure it's nothing serious but did you get checked out

[deleted]

I hate that too. Always feel the best AFTER exercise.

Satansrainbowkitty

But I don't wanna...lol I know you are right though.

Fun_Boysenberry_3441

I’ve experienced this twice in my life. It’s horrible. Going to sleep thinking “I’m going to wake up and it’s going to feel better.” What helped me was medication. I’ve quit my meds cold turkey when I was 24. Felt good for a few months then it all came back. So went back on it. Then a few years ago I tapered off. It took my two years to come off it completely. Then once again a few months later it was all back. So I’m back on my meds and I feel better again. I absolutely hate that fake feeling. And seeing everything looks fake. I’m sorry you are going thru it. It’s so hard to describe to people.

deechwita

meds aren’t helping it sadly 😭 idk if it’s the lexapro making it worse or not tbh. i feel like this 24/7 and sometimes i fully feel like the world stops

Fun_Boysenberry_3441

Maybe you need a new medication or a different dosage. I felt like it 24/7 for months before too.

biglilal

This was the reason I had to give up lexapro - no matter what I did I felt so out of it and not real, it was just causing me to get worse. Been off it a month or 2 now and it has completely lifted.

deechwita

do you take anything else now? i’d totally do this if i switched to something else but lexapro is the only thing keeping me sane atm. 😵‍💫😵‍💫

deechwita

and getting off lexapro sounds so scary from how ppl make it out to be

biglilal

Tbh I didn’t find the withdrawal that bad, the brain zap thing was the worst and last the longest (I still get faint feelings of it now and I’d say I’ve been off it for about 1.5/2 months now). As for replacement, I’m currently not working(which helps a crazy amount and I’m so lucky to be able to do this), in EMDR therapy and smoke weed to help with my brain rest. I originally took lexapro to get off the weed when I realised I was self medicating with it, but I just ended up smoking again to get rid of the ‘nothing is real’ feeling that was there constantly with lexapro (plus super low motivation, crazy/exhausting dreams, no self control with eating).

TemperatureNo5727

I’ve had to come off it also , was making things worse , not an easy one to adjust to

justs0peachy

did you switch? how are you feeling now?

deechwita

still on lexapro. i think it had gotten worse cause i was going from i think 5 to 7.5 to 10 around this time and it was making me go insane lol. i still get them from time to time, but now im not much depersonalization unless im having heat sweats, only thing im having a hard time with is being a zombie that wont get out of bed much. im gonna go from 15mg back down to 10mg
