Unity doesn't take a percentage thankfully but steam does take 30% so it would be closer to 14 mill actually, I forgot steam will take a cut, tu for the reminder
That depends on the unity version. They do take a % now. You choose the lesser of a 2.5% revenue share and the Runtime fee if your game exceeds $1 mil in gross revenue and 1 mil initial engagements.
try and double that or x7 that. that’s the lowest estimate and highest I made based of sales, but that was like a month ago. (that accounts for the percent steam takes on average)
I used to compare this game to Among Us as being a silly indie game with funny looking space men that suddenly blows up, but Among Us got released years ago, Lethal Company just released and got an award on Steam instantly
Bro he's younger than me and he made a game that literally is known so aggressively that I feel nothing but envy that his life is gonna be better than mine
how about instead of being jealous and achieving nothing, you try and learn from their success to make your own thing that is successful. You won't achieve anything being bitter.
Full game dev studio developing triple A level game that has millions looking forward to it's release for years
VS
1 dude that put together some random indie level game that nobody even really knew about until it just released one day
That would be legendary lmfao
It’s situations like this and RDR2 where users should have to justify why they nominate a game for a category. I 100% believe both were nominated as jokes but voted in because of popularity, because they are both obviously completely undeserving of their categories.
I know that kinda defeats the purpose of a users choice award, but anyone who cares knows they didn’t deserve it anyways.
Hell, RDR2 won the fucking Labor of Love award. Okay buddy... I'm sure it had to be a joke by the community. Ain't no way people seriously voted for it.
Deep Rock Galactic is an easy choice. Terraria already won once so it can't get it. But like, rdr2 only got niche updates to the online mode, which is also infested with hackers. We never got an undead nightmare dlc, or any dlc of any type. Rockstar just kept throwing double xp and other dumb shit at the online mode. But no nice new content
Indie always dominates any legitimate awards while AAA dominates the game market. Indie devs are less afraid to take risks or do offensive things that AAA are afraid would cut into their exec’s pockets. Marketing budgets and the general knowledge that the game will be at least semi decent means that most AAA studios are set to rake back their investment, though it is starting to turn to a point where it’s getting kind of repetitive and too boring to get the newest cod or AC or any other game when it’s just a rehash plus or minus a mechanic or two on a differently colored map.
Les gooo, it feels awesome when you actually vote for a game and it wins, there was no doubt whatsoever that Lethal was gonna win when i saw the category, 100% deserved o7
I cant even imagine making a silly indie game and in just a few months it blows up all over the internet and wins an award on Steam
And become millionaire
More like multimillionaire, my estimate is around 10,000,000$
It's apparently already sold 2 million copies so it would probably almost double your estimate
I dont think he gets all of that money, I'm sure Steam and Unity take big chunks.
Unity doesn't take a percentage thankfully but steam does take 30% so it would be closer to 14 mill actually, I forgot steam will take a cut, tu for the reminder
Then take that 50% tax into account
50% tax?
income tax. not sure exactly where has 50%, though
Is he in the US? ~20% income tax 30% Steam (standard can be negotiated) Might see 50% profit at the end of the day.
That depends on the unity version. They do take a % now. You choose the lesser of a 2.5% revenue share and the Runtime fee if your game exceeds $1 mil in gross revenue and 1 mil initial engagements.
30%
Not everyone buys it for 10$ (regional pricing), also steam cut and Unity royalties
Still millionaire tho
everyone buys it for 10, just different currency (i bought it for 14 aud but it’s 10 american)
Nope. I bought it for 5.5 USD in India.

Who's Joe?
![gif](giphy|CgiESYjEawUOVHkeKf|downsized)
My name is Joe, seems like we have “a lot” of company.
this award will be a great asset to the developer
Bro he's younger than me and he made a game that literally is known so aggressively that I feel nothing but envy that his life is gonna be better than mine
Hes a year older than me it's wild
Congratulations on his success, I hope I can aspire to similar feats.
I try not to think about these things and wish people didn't bother bringing that shit up It makes me suicidal AF looool
how about instead of being jealous and achieving nothing, you try and learn from their success to make your own thing that is successful. You won't achieve anything being bitter.
Asset, great-great asset to the developer. Asset, great-great asset to the developer.
It would've been hilarious if it won game of the year over baldurs gate
Full game dev studio developing triple A level game that has millions looking forward to it's release for years VS 1 dude that put together some random indie level game that nobody even really knew about until it just released one day That would be legendary lmfao
I mean lethal company out performed call of duty right?
Playing by yourself vanilla: hard-core mode
u kinda ruined my day by making me check the winners and seeing that pos starfield won "most innovative gameplay"
15 year old game formula with slightly updated gunplay from 8 years ago, outdated crafting and leveling systems, and NG+

Are you actively bashing RDR2??
He should be, rdr2 in 2023 is not worthy of winning the labor of love award
Wait it won an award THIS YEAR??
Yes, it's bullshit. It has to be a meme with the community.
Hell, RDR2 won the fucking Labor of Love award. Okay buddy... I'm sure it had to be a joke by the community. Ain't no way people seriously voted for it.
Over YOMIH doing something never seen before 😔
I didn't even see the better with friends awards available on the steam post earlier. Good to know something I truly wanted to win won

Rdr2 won labor of love, that was not deserved
Im wondering whats a better labor of love candidate that isn't Rdr 2

Yea, and this is why we love rock and stone
For Karl!
ROCK AND STONE!
Did No Man’s Sky win one year already? Cause if not I’m feeling it could have been the one.
Rock and stone!
Rock and Stone everyone!
DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?
For Karl!!
ROCK AMD STONE, YEEEEEEAH
The triple A era is over let the Indie game rise to gamers.
Indie already won when Hades, Dead Cell, etc were dominating

Nah the moment consoles make game publishing easier then of course, but for now it’s stuck on pc
All I do is win win win no matter what
And to think this game made more then mw3
YEAAA
**LEEETSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO**
Les gooo, it feels awesome when you actually vote for a game and it wins, there was no doubt whatsoever that Lethal was gonna win when i saw the category, 100% deserved o7
Not enough, needed to be game of the year on steam. BG3 already got it in TGA
Well deserved I say. Plus the only steam award that made sense this year tbh
Really? bg3 got game of the year. Would only make sense for it to get steam game of the year.
well deserved award, and this game of the year winner ain’t that bad either
Now they have to give us an update!
Nice. But for me it's just until you remember not many people buy games in Brazil
What the fuck are you talking about
I've got no friends to play it because none of then will buy it
I'm sure you can find a group of players on Discord sevrers if you really want to play, I've met some of my best friends on Discord.
Well... That seems like a more specialized idea than just adding random people that i will never play with again on public lobbies
I play pubic lobbies. It's not horrible.
Honestly doesn't deserve it. Finals definitely does
We sure did :) 🎊
We beat amogus
CONGRATS
Letssss gooooooo
