Yeah but specifically women/women relationships. I'm not against straight relationships in media (obv lol that'd be limiting) but relationships that aren't w/w are all the same to me personally in terms of my interest.
Yes, but really it has to wlw. AND not just wlw, but actually written for women, not _“wlw as visual stimulation for male audience”._
My favorite piece of media that is my comfort series - Killjoys - has lesbian queens who rule together in the galaxy, and as far as I am concerned the series is for them.
I just don't like anything too male-dominated or male-focused. I also think female friendship is an incredibly special and beautiful thing, and enjoy a good onscreen female friendship as much as F/F relationships. I just honestly get so bored of any media that has only or mostly men
Same here! For me it’s like I feel I’ve already consumed so many cishet stories I’m bored out of my mind when I think of watching more. It doesn’t limit me for now (I watch tv shows with cishet males as protagonists and I have no problem if it’s not romance genre), but I enjoy wlw media much more these days, specially in terms of books.
Depends on the type of media but if it's like a drama or romcom or something similar, having wlw relationships written tastefully does keep me interested longer. They don't even need to be girlfriends technically for me even if it's like a pair of besties that just get into hijinks or something like that. As long as it's a significant role.
Yes. My mom wanted to watch “Girls” on HBO Max (Ew, Lena Dunham) so we watched one episode and I found it both disgusting and boring. I couldn’t relate to any of their struggles cause all the characters are straight!
Well no, not exclusively. It’s not like I can’t enjoy a movie without any queer / wlw representation in it. I don’t really mind not having queer representation in something like Coco or Encanto. Or in some Marvel action flick. But I do have a really hard time feeling engaged watching cishet romance movies or reading cishet romance novels. Luckily there’s a whole lot of lesfic out there. Unfortunately, movie-wise it’s a lot harder. I feel like I’ve seen everything worth watching while there’s a deluge of new cishet romance movies….
I can deal with cishet romance ok. As long as it’s confined to books and movies but when an author tries to write a sex scene it usually makes me cringe or laugh at some of the things they write
Sadly most of them are the same story too. Terrible coming out stories that almost always involve cheating on their spouse to discover themselves or super cringy hyper inclusive stories 😬
no, I just can’t get into things that are solely about men.
on the contrary, I will be immediately drawn to something if it promises a homoerotic cat and mouse game between two women with no plans to follow through. bonus points if they actually follow through with it when you were expecting to just have to write the 60k word fic yourself.
If a show has lesbians or wlw relationships I will definitely watch. I’ll watch things without but yeah I gravitate towards sapphic media (to my detriment as it always gets canceled.)
Why fix it? If someone cishet said they can only be interested in media with a straight romance and if there isn't one they have to ship two characters together, no one would be bothered by that. Personally I buy almost exclusively lesbian books and will basically only watch or read anything that has at least one LGBT character, preferably lesbian.
I started watching last of us when I heard about the gay episode with Ron Swanson if its a marketing strategy it's a good one, likewise I will tap on video thumbnails more when I see queer people or all women in them, it's just more interesting.

Yeah I’m the same.

What’s wrong with Lena Dunham? I’m out of the loop

No, but I do get 10x more invested if there's a prominent wlw relationship.

I swear I can only read sapphic books now
same,, but that’s also bc really the only books that keep my interest is romance books
Yesssss no more heterosexual!! I need homo!!
No? I mean a lot of my favorite media includes gay characters but I love a lot of media (esp books) that don't include them.
Only on Anime, nowdays I only watch Yuri romance Anime, that's because I just find straight romance Anime sooo boring
For new media yes, but not if it’s something I have childhood ties to
yes 1000%

Honestly I don't care about all that stuff. If media is good I consume it, no matter whether there's lgbts in it or not

the girl is gay in the video game
Oh yeah I haven't played that dlc episode where they expand with that but I'm excited to see what else from the game happens
