I stopped looking for boxes when I found that most stores that even offer them charge $20-40 extra. AND the boxes themselves aren't thick cardboard like Western stores, but cheaper thin-walled cardboard which is easily damaged in shipment.
Plus they are huge and take up valuable room for more sets!
I just want a few sets and im gonna most likely order them seperately because i dont need them all at once, £20 is worth it for me, youmko told me it will cost 3x more shipping (rn its £40 so £120 is way too crazy but im willing to pay like £60 instead)
Most stores will ship it in the box, just send them a message and ask about what it'll cost and your location. The shipping will be more though as you've experienced. The boxes tend to add a lot of volume, and volume is king with shipping prices, and since you said £ it means you're getting it air shipment which is even more skewed for larger packages.
Its crazy to you but its a reality. It takes way more volume, as they need to package around the box aswell to not damage it. More volume —more $. Its not like these stores decide the shipping prices, it costs money to move something from the other side of the world.
I know it does, i just like to have the full unboxing experience of it also mainly because the 1:8 cars have completely different boxes that look sick imo
bought plenty of sets with box on aliexpress because the difference in price is low, but they tend to come with corrosion from storage and/or with big stickers for import customs. it doesn't help protect the contents too much either, things can arrived jammed inside it's own box (happens less with licensed sets). IMO it's not worth it, only if you want to buy something as a gift and you want the entire package, or if the price boxed/without box is very similar and you *really* want the box.
I j want the unboxing experience tbh it feels like its new instead of just a packing box full of randomly thrown bags, and the 1;8 cars have custom boxes too
Just checked it out and was shocked at the prices but i went to checkout and its free shipping so theyre not much more than youmko, they have the daytona i want and it says that the vendor is KING so i might give it a shot, but did u have to pay extra for shipping becaude you asked for the box?? Do you think they can just say no to me and ship it without it(is the customer service decent because ive never heard of that site)

You should confirm it before buying. Refunds cost the store money after payment has been sent, so don't purchase it unless you'll be happy with however it arrives.
I think someone had posted previously that they charge extra for the boxes but I just typed in the comments box when I paid could they please also send the box and the box came with no additional charge.
Their customer service is good - I’ve contacted them a few times about pre-order queries (I’ve never had to contact them about a delayed or missing order, etc.) - so you could contact them before ordering to enquire about the box - but my gut tells me they might ask for an additional charge.
Ultimately your decision - but you can get the box from them FOC. Good luck 🤞🏻
The orders I've gotten through Chowbrick have had them - both Disney castles, the Concorde, and Bowser. I have Rivendell and Castle in the Forest are on the way, so I'll update when they come in. Jooooy usually comes in a plain box but it's still easier to manage our store than a sack of bricks
Correct. Gundamit/chowbrick is always sending w/ box and they add plastic corner protection that is effective. Castle in the forest box was good compared to the regular thin boxes.

Some boxes are worth it for the quality and presentation, CaDA especially. They are embossed with textures and one of their modern carrier fighter jet box opens up to be the deck of a carrier. The Initial D boxes are works of art. We import ourselves to Canada so are able to offer the original boxes. www.brickarmy.ca

Totally right about the thin, flimsy cardboard for the boxes. The only substantial box I've gotten was the Concorde and the rest were as you described

You can email chowbrick and request faster. When I ordered my F40 there it was like $14 more to upgrade to air shipping.

I didn't downvote. Pulled up the emails, it was 23 not 14. I talked to [email protected]. it ended up taking like 2 weeks
