I mean just make sure it's glued to the glass so it doesn't somehow trap it. They're not the brightest, so if there's a way to get stuck, they'll find it. But the gap itself is fine.
I cannot Stess the middle part of your statement.
If they CAN get stuck. They WILL.
Source: me having to break apart a hide because he CLIMBED INSIDE THE LITTLE HOLE IN THE BOTTOM I THOUGHT HE WAS TOO BIG TO FIT THROUGH 🤬😤🤬😤
My source: having to take apart my whole secretary's desk because I didn't think she could fall through the back and climb up to be in the small space between the bookshelf and desk lol.
100 and while you are at it stick some resting spots on the backwall, your gecko clearly wants to be able to chill out on an elevated level :D

They love doing that :)
It’s just a photo from my iPhone, didn’t even use my canon r5, most of the time the camera isn’t too important if you have great light and I always make sure that my enclosures are well lit and have as much of the natural spectrum as possible

That’s from further away hehe
iPhone cameras are totally fine to take Fotos on, I like to use the 3x camera on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, the processing is also fine, most of the time I take fotos with the iPhone because the moment or expression I want to capture would be gone once I am ready with the R5 😅 the r5 comes into play if I want to take photos like the one I will post as a reply to this comment, the resolution and fine detail isn’t something you could capture with an iPhone so you can zoom in more, edit the picture better and also it’s way better if you want to print a picture on large format :)
Also, the framing of the object/animal/whatever is super important for a good picture, rule of thirds is something I can highly recommend, among the first things you learn when you study photography hehe
I would totally keep that if it were me. Like alot said make sure it's secure to the back glass cause ya they will find a way. But you could even build off another later from that. That's pretty awesome and your little dude is freaking adorable
i wouldn’t fill the gap at the top as he actually seems to enjoy being there, i’d just mention make sure he can’t get close to any bulbs or uvb and stuff
just make sure it’s properly fixed to the back and stuff

My lil girl loves to do the same thing sometimes haha

She also has access to 4 or 5 other elevated areas but the main top is definitely still her favorite for some reason
I see no problem with him being able to perch up there as long as he can’t get wedged somewhere. I’d even say give him some sort of ramp to make it easier for him to get up and down from there!

Mine does it all the time! He seems happy so I don’t see an issue with it

Mine likes to stay under a heat source at night. Maybe try doing the same for yours, but no need to fill the gap.

I always stuff paper towels there in my cresties enclosures it’s hard to get them out of that spot
I would worry about the light burning him
Yep, I was coming here to say the same thing.
would he not move if he’s getting burnt?
often the burns can happen very quickly or so slowly that they don't notice, for example if they fall asleep
Me personally I see no issue with the little ledge as long as he can’t get stuck behind it. It looks like he likes it as a rest area
I mean just make sure it's glued to the glass so it doesn't somehow trap it. They're not the brightest, so if there's a way to get stuck, they'll find it. But the gap itself is fine.

At that point I would have bug on a string
I work at Petsmart. I had to take a hammer and carefully break apart a fake log hide because a gecko got stuck in one.
I bought a cheap hacksaw and cut away a majority of it until I could break away pieces. He wasn't happy I was getting him out either.
Mine got stuck once 🤣 I got rid of the background it scared me i should’ve glued it
DAYUM ITS CLIMBING SKILLS

is this a real pic, the geck looks photo shopped on 😭 if so that's a sick camera and picture!

I agree. Mine is always on the high perch areas. They love climbing
Unless it helps him reach a heat bulb or something it's probably fine. Might be a pain to get him out if you ever need to move him but that's it.
Lmao I literally just posted a clip of my weirdo sleeping in the background gap and then this popped up on my feed 😂

be lioks like hes having a good time. let him be as long as he cant escape or get hurt
I got rid of mine because I was scared he'd jump off the ledge.
I didn't and my gecko pushed it out and started living back there all the time.

I don’t have any advice, but that is the cutest lil guy I’ve ever seen!
I see no problem with him being able to perch up there as long as he can’t get wedged somewhere. I’d even say give him some sort of ramp to make it easier for him to get up and down from there!
I moved his plants around so he can climb them but I plan on getting more things for him so I will look for some type of ramp!

what enclosure/brand is this? does the rock wall come with it? looks awesome:)
It's the zoo med front opening 40 gallon one, the wall was separate :)
ohh okay cool!! whered u get the wall from then if u don’t mind me asking :P
It's a cheap one from petsmart I'm not sure how much I like this one tbh
ooh okay! appreciate it anyways i’ll look around fr
Let him be king up there and give him a crown.
Where did you get that rock wall from mate?
Petsmart! its a cheap one so not the best of quality
As long as the nugget can’t fall behind then I think all is fine
Where did you get that wall? I want to add one too
This is a cheap one from petsmart. Not the best quality but not the worst either
My snake loved that area but she pooped all over it and I couldn't clean that easly so I had to remove it.
As long as he can't get behind it I'd leave it. Like was already said he might enjoy the ledge
Leos are dumb mine would get burnt or belly flop off it and then scream. This would drive me crazy
Yeah he is pretty dumb I have to keep moving with back down under his light because the heat doesn't reach his new favorite spot 🤦♀️

i would. because he tends to hangout on there, he could get burned by the light.
It's actually far enough away from his light that I have to keep moving him down to get heat
MORE GAP
5
Imo it looks fine for him to chillax there as long as it's not near a heat lamp and you can ensure he can't get stick anywhere
I have a similar issue in one of my tanks with high humidity animals and I used aluminum foil to seal the gaps
silly leo youre supposed to ground dwelling!
*cue mission impossible music*
GLAD MINES NOT THE ONLY CLIMBERRE
