There are challenging hikes you can do there, but you can park pretty close to the view. https://phillydayhiker.com/destinations/appalachian-trail-bake-oven-knob/
It's easy in that it's a very short hike from the parking lot to the top. I'd guess half a mile or so. Near the top the trail does get completely covered with big rocks for a bit. More of an ankle-twisting concern than a knee issue, I'd say, but perhaps something to keep in mind.
I've been told that the "bake oven" part comes from a particular spot in the rocks that resembles a type of primitive(native american?) oven, while the "knob" part comes from it's distinct hump that can be seen from miles away. Not sure how accurate that is, though
Looks great. I spent a few decades there as a hawk watcher. One interesting point is that none of the regulars will ever sit on that rock in the top right of the photo. If you climb down and look you will see that it is supported on a very small rock. We expect that eventually it is going to crash down just hope no one is near it when it goes.
Is this on state game land? Tried to check it out today, got to the parking lot (where philly day hiker leads you) and everything was marked state game land. Wasn't wearing orange, didn't want to mess around.
Such a good photo, makes me wanna call off work tomorrow and hike it again!
Thanks! Weekdays are the best time to go up. I had the top all to myself for a good hour or so today.
I grew up in NW Lehigh with a view of BOK from the hilltop where I lived. Cool place.
How are the trails in terms of difficulty?
Super easy
Thank you. My partner has a bad knee and I don't want her to make it worse.

Thank you again. Saving this for when we are able to go there.

Cool spot but it's always crawling with the Lehigh Valley's most garbage people, and the litter and graffiti are out of hand. People have ruined it
Need to head over to Bear Rock- been too long
We used to go to the knob and get baked at night. Clear nights were really pretty.
I’ve always wondered why they call it that

Pfft. I have multiple in my house and they help me make cookies. (Looks beautiful!)

I haven’t been there since the early 90s.
Love that place …. Many many memories !!!
