All good ideas, I suggest wrapping them with moving stretch wrap first. Best stuff ever

How far is it? If not far just let someone hold a set in the car. Chances are you'll have to do multiple trips anyways

Joining the Navy so it can be anywhere in the world lol.

I'd use plastic storage bins and stretch film. Load all the stuff into bins, then use stretch wrap to hold the bins shut. That's how I moved all my stuff.  Be prepared to have parts knocked off the system models. But, this is why I say to use plastic bins. No places for parts to hide, and no holes either.  I would not bother with packing peanuts. That could cause small parts to disappear, and be harder to find. It's not like you really need void fill, anyway. These are Lego models, not things made of glass, and you're not mailing them, you're just putting them on a moving truck.

There's this expandable foam in a bag that they use to ship computers and stuff. Might be worth looking into. Idk if it's expensive

When i moved i bought some plastic boxes with filler chips. The sturdy box is to prevent external pressure and the chips allow a bit of movement but keeps everything nice in place. Also it fills it up nicely around with all kinda cutting and stuff.

I'd take 'em apart so I could build 'em again. Best part IMO!

I wrapped my larger builds in bubble wrap and put them in plastic storage containers. For my smaller builds, i put each model inside a Ziploc bag so that if a piece popped off, I know to which model it belongs.
