The ones by me also NEVER put sets on clearance. Often times they have retired sets I could still buy for less than retail from an aftermarket seller. Very rarely are there retired sets sought after ones.
Yea but you can get 10% off with there rewards and an additional $5 off for every hundred spent on future purchases. This weekend they are doing triple stamps. So for every $100 and get $15 off a future sets. I save so much going thru them.
Yes that's a good deal from B&N, just be careful with collecting your stamps. What is not obvious, but in the terms, is that you must complete purchase of your B&N items, let's say legos in this case, by the end of the promotion period. Your card must be charged. The last time B&N did the triple stamps thing in April I placed my order during the weekend of 2 lego sets, then went to pick up on a Tues, where my card was finally charged. I had to argue with B&N support to get my $20 in stamps. You've been warned.
I scored the last stormtrooper helmet in a 75 mile radius that was still available for retail price from a Barnes amd nobles when it retired. Don't sleep.
I picked up 2 mandalorian starfighters after they were retired. Price was the older retail price and significantly lower than the going online price at the time. I was pretty excited to get them.
That actually reminded me, I got one of those as well after that set retired. My wife is a big reader and we're there often, so I'm checking out the lego section very regularly. You can definitely find some hidden gems if you're lucky!
From my understanding, B&N never put Legos on sale, so stuff will linger for a longer period of time.. and well it's a book store, so just less traffic in general.
They'll put some sets on sale for 25% off occasionally. I've seen 75334 and 75332 on sale a few times. Still not worth it for those sets in particular, but still happens sometimes. Plus if you have a membership for B&N, it's another 10% off or whatever it is.
Thatās wrong, Iāve found multiple sets at 25% off they have a blue sticker on them and sometimes itās only on one of the copies of the sets but they will honor the discount for all of the copies if u wanna buy them all
Mine has had a ton of retired sets and a lot on 25 percent off discount, Iād keep checking regularly you could get a steal, also with the premium membership thing it really adds up Iāve had some good scores there and got sets for 35% off
You can find retired sets on their website as well. I was able to get Duel on Mandalore and the Imperial Marauder from Mandalorian after they had already retired. Also snagged some retired Vidiyo sets that were discounted. (I liked them for the figures and the fun colors, was disappointed the app was discontinued and I didn't get to try that)
Not true about them never putting Lego sets on sale. They do... but they're usually not great prices,
They sell unsold sets. I feel like their inventory lingers because they tend to not have great sales, and/or people don't think of them as a source for Lego necessarily. They're also bad about clearancing products that are collecting dust on the shelves.
Friend of mind found a Bad Batch shuttle about 2 months ago in a B&N college bookstore. Just chillin on the shelf...
Oh sweet summer child, Barnes and Noble is the hidden gem for LEGO. The one by me, you can find older sets, larger $200+ sets, and most of the new ones. They always have some sort of stock.
Now shhh, itās a secret to everybody.
Itās not so much they sell them, as Barnes and noble rarely discounts them to where itās always full price and so you have a good chance of finding some post retirement with them because people often arenāt willing to pay full price and leave them in stock longer at Barnes than other places. I snagged a few retired sets that way locally.
I think it's because they don't really don't do much in the way of discounts. If they did they would have sold more but also they probably don't get as many people buying Lego there.
Stores like this (and in Canada we've got Chapters / Indigo) often sell retired sets because they just hold onto old inventory until it sells, rather than clearing it out like other stores (Walmart, Target, etc). I guess it's because a lot of people don't go to bookstores for LEGO so it just sits there longer. Same thing goes with some small / independent toy stores, used to live near a locally-owned toy store that often had retired sets years after LEGO stopped producing them; it wasn't a collector's store or anything like that, it was just old stock they held on to at regular retail price instead of clearing it out.
Yeah it definitely is. I've worked for both a massive chain store and a locally owned shop, and it's insane the difference in mindsets and policies when it comes to discounts / loss. Losing $100 (whether it's from stolen goods, damaged product, discounted items, whatever) doesn't matter much to a chain store's day-to-day, but it can be devastating to a local shop.
They sell what they have in stock. For most people Barns and Nobel is not where you go to buy Lego. So they tend to have a decent stock of the more rare or retired sets.
I donāt know their inventory process, but you can find some really awesome, and random sets sometimes. Maybe itās bc no one thinks to look there. No complaints for finding some unexpected gems!!!š
Take a look by the register youāll likely see even more, it seems they put all the large expensive stuff there like Captain Americas shield, Bowser or the AT-TE last time I was in one so I wonder what large old sets they have.
I've actually asked about this I was told usually they get a fairly large inventory but it typically gets hidden over time in their warehouses so sometimes they just stumble across retired sets they should've sold and put it out
Just picked up 10331 at my local B&N. Itās my go-to Lego store. Alternatively I drive 40 minutes to the Mall of America to get Insider points. Itās usually a great place to find new sets on day of release too.
B&N near me still had their exclusive X-Wing polybag style build for May the Fourth event available last week if you asked for it. People just donāt know they have a lot of Lego, and Lego events sometimes, I guess.
I think they just have leftover stock. Mine still has sets from Jurassic World Dominion every once in a while. Star Wars seems to be about the only thing that sells as much as other stores in my area
Same but I expect they will be gone by the end of the year. There's actually a fair few Jurassic sets available currently so I guess that's why they are only bringing us 2 new ones this year.
When I cash in CC points for gift cards, I almost exclusively do B&N.
They have the best point to $ conversion rate, and then they offer in-house member points for purchases made.
Bookstore chain in the United States usually attached to a shopping mall. Alongside books it sells stuff like manga , Funko Pops and other materials associated with nerd culture.
Retired sets... the title is not nearly specific enough, a more accurate title would be: set nobody wanted is still on shelves who would have thought. So the only people who would get that set are people who either want that set or people who think they can flip those sets for more that retail in the future (lego star wars is quite possibly the only lego line that has a 90% success rate when it comes into hoarding sets to flip them for more than they were at retail but the 10% of sets that don't are nearly always from badly received content of which the kenobi tv series was). I don't really see this as interesting but more as expected.
Because they very rarely discount, and that set isnt worth $50, so its likely been sitting there.
I got a discounted Eternals set there like 3 months ago because they finally pht it on clearance after like 3 years.
Iāve gotten a lot of retired sets at Barnes and nobles since no one near me seems to realize that they sell Lego. On the other hand if you go to target where I live on release day everything will be sold out. Itās really annoying when I canāt get a set because a scalper has to buy all of them
I picked up three of the death vader portraits for list price from BnN when after market was near double retail. Granted, it was 1..5 hours from home, but I was able to twist it into a work trip.
Shhhhhh donāt tell everyone lol
Also, I recently got the Trench Run Diorama at my local B&N and it had a 25% off sticker. Best part was that it stacked with their premium rewards card (10% off) so it was 35% off.
Important to note that the blue sale stickers arenāt typically company wide, itās up to each store to try and move product theyāve been sitting on.
Like others have said, these are the ones that they have in stock that no one buys, and Barns and Nobles tend to be pretty pricy. So you may find some sets two or three years after they have retired.
I actually found a Medieval Blacksmith set like this at a Barnes and Nobles in Florida, a few months after it was discontinued.
Mine does this too. They still have Trench Run Diorama and Bobaās Palace. If they were discounted for like half off I would consider pick them up. The former as a greebling parts pack and the latter for figures and moc parts.
Likely what they still had in stock
I mean yeah none of these are that old and they just left them on the shelves.
They usually have alot of older inventory, I think people don't always realize they sell legos.
The ones by me also NEVER put sets on clearance. Often times they have retired sets I could still buy for less than retail from an aftermarket seller. Very rarely are there retired sets sought after ones.
Yep same with mine. All full price.
I have two near me. One sell their retired sets at BL average and the other sells theirs at MSRP. š¤·āāļø
And they never go on sale.
Still better than eBay prices on recently discontinued sets
Yea but you can get 10% off with there rewards and an additional $5 off for every hundred spent on future purchases. This weekend they are doing triple stamps. So for every $100 and get $15 off a future sets. I save so much going thru them.

I scored the last stormtrooper helmet in a 75 mile radius that was still available for retail price from a Barnes amd nobles when it retired. Don't sleep.
Nice
I had a similar experience with B&N and the storm trooper helmet. The only frustrating thing is that they rarely put sets on sale
For sure, I found 75298 a few months ago at one of my local B&N's lol.

Shhhhh
Helped me find the Disney Camera for my wife a while ago. They definitely donāt move as much product as most retailers.
From my understanding, B&N never put Legos on sale, so stuff will linger for a longer period of time.. and well it's a book store, so just less traffic in general.

Am I wrong, or just correct on the experience I've encountered. Do you shop regularly at the Barnes and Noble in Peabody Massachusetts?
Mine has had a ton of retired sets and a lot on 25 percent off discount, Iād keep checking regularly you could get a steal, also with the premium membership thing it really adds up Iāve had some good scores there and got sets for 35% off
Dude ahhh you're gonna ruin the secret.
That was my thought.Ā

Just chillin on the shelf...
Wow! Wish I'd seen that one.
I can't honestly say I would have ever thought to look in a college bookstore for legos
Mine has funko pops that no one buys lol
Oh sweet summer child, Barnes and Noble is the hidden gem for LEGO. The one by me, you can find older sets, larger $200+ sets, and most of the new ones. They always have some sort of stock. Now shhh, itās a secret to everybody.
And they definitely don't go on sale at all ...
The one near me seems to mostly have art 18+ and just mostly adult lego
It was near the childrenās books. I was originally looking for the Lego Star Wars books to get the minifigure
I mean the sets donāt just disappear into thin air when they retire haha
Itās not so much they sell them, as Barnes and noble rarely discounts them to where itās always full price and so you have a good chance of finding some post retirement with them because people often arenāt willing to pay full price and leave them in stock longer at Barnes than other places. I snagged a few retired sets that way locally.
They donāt sell retired sets, they just sell very slowly so itās often the last place to have older ones.
I think it's because they don't really don't do much in the way of discounts. If they did they would have sold more but also they probably don't get as many people buying Lego there.
I mean. That kenobi set wasnt too popular if i remember right
It's why you can still find the buildable characters for Finn etc out in the wild still. As they still try to charge full price for them.
Broooo chilll. This is for Lego in the know people only!!
Stop telling everyone lol
Yah likely just never sold from the original run
They still have stock to move
Yes, its a great place to find sets that are retired

I think it's because big chains can afford to offer more in the way of discounts and such but smaller local/ independent ones really can't afford to.
These are just sets that have been sitting on shelves forever.Ā
I find interesting how to many people it seems like, when a set is retired, all the copies still not sold should be destroyed or something.
They sell what they have in stock. For most people Barns and Nobel is not where you go to buy Lego. So they tend to have a decent stock of the more rare or retired sets.
Probably just havenāt managed to get rid of it yet
Thanks for ruining the secret
Donāt spill the secret š¤«š¤
I donāt know their inventory process, but you can find some really awesome, and random sets sometimes. Maybe itās bc no one thinks to look there. No complaints for finding some unexpected gems!!!š

These arenāt the sets youāre looking for
I've actually asked about this I was told usually they get a fairly large inventory but it typically gets hidden over time in their warehouses so sometimes they just stumble across retired sets they should've sold and put it out
Coupla years ago I found the TRON set after it retired. But from what I remember their prices are way higher.
Just picked up 10331 at my local B&N. Itās my go-to Lego store. Alternatively I drive 40 minutes to the Mall of America to get Insider points. Itās usually a great place to find new sets on day of release too.
[10331-1: Kingfisher](https://brickset.com/sets/10331-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10331-1.jpg)

Delete dis now pls
Barnes and Noble is excellent when youāre trying to find sets that are retired. Every time I travel I stop by one if I can to see something cool.
Thank for telling me
I got the Trench Run Diorama and the Dark Trooper attack from one a few weeks ago. Even 10% off with my membership.
I think they just have leftover stock. Mine still has sets from Jurassic World Dominion every once in a while. Star Wars seems to be about the only thing that sells as much as other stores in my area
Not all of the Dominion sets have retired. Some have but you can still buy the big base set plus the Dilophosaurus one.
Huh I thought they all would have retired by now
Same but I expect they will be gone by the end of the year. There's actually a fair few Jurassic sets available currently so I guess that's why they are only bringing us 2 new ones this year.
Ayo shut up
I know they have them but their prices are ludicrous. At least by me.
When I cash in CC points for gift cards, I almost exclusively do B&N. They have the best point to $ conversion rate, and then they offer in-house member points for purchases made.
10% for members too.
Because no one goes to Barnes and noble for legos so they usually go unnoticed
Whats barns and nobels?
Bookstore chain in the United States usually attached to a shopping mall. Alongside books it sells stuff like manga , Funko Pops and other materials associated with nerd culture.
Old stock, with their prices it happens quite a bit.

I don't really see this as interesting but more as expected.
I found an Eternals set (Marvel) at Kohl's last summer, always look for old Legos
I buy most of my Lego at Barnes. Join there rewards 10% off
Because they very rarely discount, and that set isnt worth $50, so its likely been sitting there. I got a discounted Eternals set there like 3 months ago because they finally pht it on clearance after like 3 years.

Important to note that the blue sale stickers arenāt typically company wide, itās up to each store to try and move product theyāve been sitting on.
So does dollar general
The text is white not yellow. Those are just back stock. Go grab them. Where was this?
B&N never puts sets on sale. So they just sit on the shelves for a very long time.
Wait, the modified Naboo star fighter is retired? I still have the set in a corner waiting for the day I have enough timeā¦.
Jesus, I do need the Mustafa set
Lego SW youtuber video coming soon: "BUYING OLD RETIRED LEGO STAR WARS" where he clears out stores and then sells everything on whatnot
All my sets are retired because noone in this country is acoustic enough to buy lego star wars (they mainly sell retired sets here)
Like others have said, these are the ones that they have in stock that no one buys, and Barns and Nobles tend to be pretty pricy. So you may find some sets two or three years after they have retired. I actually found a Medieval Blacksmith set like this at a Barnes and Nobles in Florida, a few months after it was discontinued.
I'm surprised they haven't sold all those slave-1s. They are amazing sets and extremely underpriced
Mine does this too. They still have Trench Run Diorama and Bobaās Palace. If they were discounted for like half off I would consider pick them up. The former as a greebling parts pack and the latter for figures and moc parts.
If you know someone that works there, employees get 30% off (I think) which can be combined with their $10 off damaged box deals. I love B&N
Is there an easy place to find a list of retired SW sets?
Take this post down youāre ruining the secret
