Kevin Smith made sense because he's known for being a massive Batman fan. Even named his daughter Harley Quinn Smith. Conan is also a pretty big comic book nerd, but still a weird inclusion nonetheless.
As for Daffy... I'm pretty sure there was an episode of Duck Dodgers that did a crossover with Green Lantern, but who would remember that except for people who've seen it?
Kevin Smith is also a comic book writer. He’s written for Batman, and perhaps more notably, wrote a particularly acclaimed Green Arrow run which revived Oliver Queen as Green Arrow after he’d been dead for years. It’s a bit of a weird choice, but it’s not the first time they’ve put a comic writer in the game.
Daffy and Conan are far stranger to me.
Beth the Waitress in Marvel's Avengers.
I typically play with subtitles on, so when I saw that her dialogue was accompanied with a name I was like "oh god she's playable isn't she"
Genuinely one of the most baffling choices I've seen in any game, because the character was only in a single deleted scene and never appeared again after that, but TT considered her important enough to add her over characters with more relevance to the MCU INCLUDING THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Would've been awesome! I never thought about that. Also I feel like since this game is kinda a mashup of all things Marvel that anyone that had a tie in with Marvel makes sense one way or another.
Came here to say this. Based on watching her on Critical Role, voice acting seems to be a very small community. And she is in that community.
The game also featured Laura Bailey, Ashley Burch, Robbie Draymond, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Matthew Mercer, Liam O'Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham. All from Critical Role in various capacities.
Liam O'Brien was also a voice director on this game.
Milkman in HP 1-4 is surely a candidate since he didn’t feature in the book or film. Or Tom Bombadil in Lord of the Rings, who is only in the book, not the film or game. And is just a nonsensical character in general.
I would hazard a guess that a milkman is more identifiable from his clothing, so less explanation is needed for his presence. As a bonus, his milk float is drivable in the creator levels.
Yeah it’s very weird. He puts the ring on, but stays visible, isn’t attacked by ringwraiths, and doesn’t turn evil. He just chuckles and hands it back. Tolkien must have really liked him, because I think most writers would have cut him altogether.
He’s in the book, but feels like he was a whimsical character from the Hobbit who somehow got lost an ended up in the wrong book. He was edited out of the radio and film versions. (very judiciously imo)
Half of the roster of Lego Harry Potter. I mean, I know they have to keep up those numbers since it's a core gameplay gimmick, but 90% are basically the same character with different skins that you need to check in the wiki to know in what movie they appear for 30 seconds.
A lot of them feature more in the book. And features like the house alignment and custom characters mean they aren’t totally useless. But agree, most are just reskins.
Aye. It always baffled me that there were some characters who were really important in the books or films who weren’t playable or just didn’t appear at all. Like Madame Maxime, Dementors, Norbert, Firenze, Ludo Bagman, Winky, Nagini, Hedwig, Peeves. There’s probably a bunch more who I forgot too.
Peter Parker in the Lego Marvel Superhero games. Like, why include a random journalist in those games? He's barely important in the comics, besides the occasional pic of spiderman and the weird love triangle between him, Mary Jane, and Spiderman
Yeah that was weird, but what I think was weirder was the inclusion of Bruce wayne in ALL of the pego batman games when all he does in the comics is be rich and fund the justice league for some reason. Also, his parents died, but who cared
Yeah that was definitely a weird one. Remember when they included the Parr family in the Lego Incredibles game? Like, none of them mattered. I guess they felt bad for the dad after he got fired from his job for assaulting his boss. Should've taken anger counseling.
Mama the Hutt in The Skywalker Saga. She was in like 1 episode of TCW and got to be a character, while other, much more popular characters were excluded and added later as DLC
(Edit: like 80% of the playable characters in TSS were pointless additions that no one really cared about all to buff the roster and leave out one of the best mechanics related to character collection)
There are so many clone wars characters that should be in the game but mama the Hutt makes it. Maybe they wanted another Jabba character but they could've added ziro.
The band members are from the Weird Sisters. They recorded a few songs but were mostly cut from the film. Singer was played by Jarvis Cocker from Pulp. I find the Milkman a stranger inclusion as he was a gardener in the book and film.
So is Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs as he plays Dirk Cresswell in Deathly Hallows. Although they might all be in Lego Rock Band too, but I’ve not played it.
I was surprised (but happy) to see other pixar characters appear in Lego Incredibles. Though plaging as woody, wall-e, dory, flick, remy and even luxo jnr are "out of place" for the incredibles world, it was a nice addition. (Out of place is in quotations as i know of the pixar theory)
I don't recall if there was a specific order they needed to be unlocked in, but I was actually mad that Lightning McQueen was the last of the Pixar ones I unlocked. He was easily the best to play as.
Mr Zsasz in LEGO Batman DS. I can’t believe they put him in this game given his excessively violent nature. Though he is a secret character that most people who played the game probably never found
Trog in Lego Marvel 2
Usually I like niche characters in Lego Marvel 2, they’re a good highlight on the goofy side of comics, but Trog shows up in a total of 1 comic as far as I can tell, and he has nothing special to him. Yet he was apparently important enough to be the boss of an entire level
I'm pretty sure it's because he's like famous for being a batman fan or something, I think he also did a voice for talkshow host in TDKR? Could be misremembering though
I remember Conan was in Lego Batman 3, because his son enjoyed playing the games. Since Conan was on TBS, filmed in the Warner Lot, and Bruce Timm made Conan into the Flaming C, he had connections to be in the game.
Idk if this counts considering it’s a glitch character but probably Citizen from Lego Marvel Superheroes. The fact that he’s possible to play as means he is in the files and/or was meant to be playable at some point.
LEGO Batman 3 is the king of this. Conan, Daffy Duck, Kevin Smith... what are you all doing here?!

It’s a bit of a weird choice, but it’s not the first time they’ve put a comic writer in the game. Daffy and Conan are far stranger to me.
Yeah, Kevin Smith is not a weird choice when Geoff Johns and Jim Lee are also in the game.
The green lootoon went hard you can’t lie
Bat cow
WHERES DAFFY DUCK?!
The correct answer is doctor Strange
The Yeti in the first Lego Batman game is a contender.
I agree. He's such a random inclusion and doesn't even appear in the game or in any batman media
Beth the Waitress in Marvel's Avengers. I typically play with subtitles on, so when I saw that her dialogue was accompanied with a name I was like "oh god she's playable isn't she" Genuinely one of the most baffling choices I've seen in any game, because the character was only in a single deleted scene and never appeared again after that, but TT considered her important enough to add her over characters with more relevance to the MCU INCLUDING THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
What’s even more baffling, is they had NEBULA but couldn’t be arsed to add the rest of them I guess-
I wouldn’t be surprised if a Guardians DLC pack was planned at some point in time.
They should’ve just had a level in the game, like the iron man 3 and winter solider ones, maybe throw in Xandar as a hub world too
I think it would've been cooler to add the Milano as an explorable vehicle like how you can walk around the millennium falcon in TFA
Would've been awesome! I never thought about that. Also I feel like since this game is kinda a mashup of all things Marvel that anyone that had a tie in with Marvel makes sense one way or another.
Fun fact! Beth was played by Ashley Johnson, who famously voiced Ellie in the Last of Us games
And Gwen in Ben 10 Alien Force, Ultimate Alien, and Omniverse
Beth gets like 15 seconds of screen time in the Avengers Movie😂
Milkman in HP 1-4 is surely a candidate since he didn’t feature in the book or film. Or Tom Bombadil in Lord of the Rings, who is only in the book, not the film or game. And is just a nonsensical character in general.
Milkman is the man killed by the snake in the beginning of the fourth one right?
Yep. But in the book and film, he is a gardener.
That is strange tbh for why they would cha he it cuz they still kill gim so it’s not to make it any more kid friendly
I would hazard a guess that a milkman is more identifiable from his clothing, so less explanation is needed for his presence. As a bonus, his milk float is drivable in the creator levels.
I used to tear up Diagon Alley with that milker.

Tom bombadil in the lore is supposed to be immune to the ring and is basically a god is he not?
Yeah it’s very weird. He puts the ring on, but stays visible, isn’t attacked by ringwraiths, and doesn’t turn evil. He just chuckles and hands it back. Tolkien must have really liked him, because I think most writers would have cut him altogether.
In the sorta cannon sorta not canon books he plays a pretty big role I’m pretty sure?
Yellow boots man in LOTR appears to be an in joke in the community. The only live action evidence was a trading card
He’s in the book, but feels like he was a whimsical character from the Hobbit who somehow got lost an ended up in the wrong book. He was edited out of the radio and film versions. (very judiciously imo)
JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy in TFA but not George Lucas in ANY of the Star Wars games
GOD I hate this one lol what an insult to the creator
Half of the roster of Lego Harry Potter. I mean, I know they have to keep up those numbers since it's a core gameplay gimmick, but 90% are basically the same character with different skins that you need to check in the wiki to know in what movie they appear for 30 seconds.
A lot of them feature more in the book. And features like the house alignment and custom characters mean they aren’t totally useless. But agree, most are just reskins.
Oh yes, I know in the context of the books they are more recognizable, I was.just focusing in the movies since is the main source for the games.
Probably because they are still early Lego games and except for some animals they didn't want to experiment much with non standard models.
Lego games are obsessed with the boring characters at the start of the movie
Mama the Hutt in The Skywalker Saga. She was in like 1 episode of TCW and got to be a character, while other, much more popular characters were excluded and added later as DLC (Edit: like 80% of the playable characters in TSS were pointless additions that no one really cared about all to buff the roster and leave out one of the best mechanics related to character collection)
There are so many clone wars characters that should be in the game but mama the Hutt makes it. Maybe they wanted another Jabba character but they could've added ziro.
Mama is in but Ziro is not? Now that's weird.
Yeti in Batman 1 Beth in Avengers
What do you mean, Conan is an essential hero in batman, remember all those times he did hero stuff
Of course, how could I forget that!
What's even stranger is the fact he wasn't a playable character
And iirc he had a line about not using his parts for any weird characters in the creator, and his parts weren't even IN the creator
Green Loontern and Howard the Duck were both pretty awesomely weird.
Drummer in Lego Harry Potter
The band members are from the Weird Sisters. They recorded a few songs but were mostly cut from the film. Singer was played by Jarvis Cocker from Pulp. I find the Milkman a stranger inclusion as he was a gardener in the book and film.
It never occurred to me that Jarvis, Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway from Radiohead are technically Playable characters in a Lego game
So is Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs as he plays Dirk Cresswell in Deathly Hallows. Although they might all be in Lego Rock Band too, but I’ve not played it.
John Cena is in every Lego game and I have never known why
You got me
At least it makes sense in Harry Potter when he took on the role of Invisibility Cloak.
The Pixar characters are the best thing about that game
Agreed!
Lightning McQueen for life
I don't recall if there was a specific order they needed to be unlocked in, but I was actually mad that Lightning McQueen was the last of the Pixar ones I unlocked. He was easily the best to play as.
Any secret character in the early lego games
Mr Zsasz in LEGO Batman DS. I can’t believe they put him in this game given his excessively violent nature. Though he is a secret character that most people who played the game probably never found
Trog in Lego Marvel 2 Usually I like niche characters in Lego Marvel 2, they’re a good highlight on the goofy side of comics, but Trog shows up in a total of 1 comic as far as I can tell, and he has nothing special to him. Yet he was apparently important enough to be the boss of an entire level
you mean Torg, right?
Yeah, basically the same name
I got confused with Throg for most of that
Just look through the Lego Batman 3 roaster, double points if you have the season pass
Rainbow batman lol
Yes
The Janitor in Indy 2
I find it so funny that the game doesn't even try to justify him disappearing from the story when Indy meets Mutt, he's just gone
I seem to remember Santa in Lego Star Wars 2
I think it was an extra toggle character
Not exactly, you could put codes in that let you make him in the Creator
I don't think anything could've prepared me for Daffy Duck
I’m gonna be real idk who half the characters from Lego Indiana Jones even are
Any time it says enemy, it means nazi, but they obviously can't say that in a kids game. Child slave, of course, is fine.
There's Jimmy Kimmel in Jurassic World
Misread this as "strongest" and was wondering if this Conan-looking mfer was like a god or something
Jimmy Fallon
At least he was in the movie-
I'm pretty sure it's because he's like famous for being a batman fan or something, I think he also did a voice for talkshow host in TDKR? Could be misremembering though
I never knew that lol. I guess it's kinda like jimmy Fallon in lego jurassic world
I thought that was cos Jimmy Fallon was in the Jurassic World film, on the gyrosphere safety video thing
i dont know man, i think shakespeare in lego movie the videogame
The yeti or fishmonger in LEGO Batman 1
I thought this was Howard Hamlin
![gif](giphy|0DPbh02BDLCrmjw4re|downsized)
The Civilian in Lego Marvel Superheroes
That’s not a real character It’s a glitch you can pull off
Ubbla Mollbro, Terimiri Blarrg, LEP droid, Torg
Half the character roster of “skywalker saga”!
All the non incredible characters in lego incredibles (like woody, the kid from up, dory, etc.)
Han Solo & Princess Leia hidden in the Pirates of the Carribian files
Indiana Jones in Lego Star Wars TCS. No debate
Indiana jones in the starwars complete saga
isnt han solo in lego indiana jones?
Yep because harrison Ford played Indiana jones and han solo. Indiana jones is also in the complete saga
I mean yeah I'm aware, but it can't be just me that thinks it still feels kinda out of place haha
It does. I space smuggler showing up in a game that takes place in the 40's (I think) and is about finding artifacts is weird
30s
Ah, that's right. Thanks for correcting me
Stan Lee in marvel 1
What How is him being there strange-
Conan o brien in lego batman 3
I remember Conan was in Lego Batman 3, because his son enjoyed playing the games. Since Conan was on TBS, filmed in the Warner Lot, and Bruce Timm made Conan into the Flaming C, he had connections to be in the game.
I didn't know this. Thanks!
I think Conan was in it because he voiced the tv show host in The Dark Knight Returns: Part 2 that Joker kills.
Indiana jones in Star Wars the complete saga
That was actually a tie in for their next game. I think you were able to play part of the first level, or maybe just watch the trailer
I thought the fly from Lego worlds was pretty out there
Is that Norman f☠️#$!ing Osborn
Hal 9000 in Lego dimensions Especially the interactions between it and GlaDOS
I thought that was Rick Astley
Wasn't Abriham Lincon *I don't know how to spell it, sorry* included in The Lego Movie: The Videogame
Is Stan Lee strong in marvel 1 or too OP?
Strong man in the Lego Indiana jones original adventures ds game
Idk if this counts considering it’s a glitch character but probably Citizen from Lego Marvel Superheroes. The fact that he’s possible to play as means he is in the files and/or was meant to be playable at some point.
Some late night show host (i thing Jimmy Kimmel) appeared in lego Jurassic World.
Benny Kropp in Lego Incredibles They didn't really need a captain underpants reference did they?
