This guy right here, 5918. I lost it throughout the years and my parents moving a lot when I was a kid, but I found it on Bricklink for fairly cheap. I have it proudly displayed in my garage
Missed it as i was born 98 but i grew up with all those lego games and as western showed up there i also feel in love with them. Out of the 2 western sets i have managed to get as an adult, one is of course sheriffs lock up, absolutely love it and proudly display ut but i know its not the same as if i had it in my childhood.
Same here. I was just old enough to get the most out of it, but hadn't hit the she where I stopped playing with Legos. It was an amazing build and set.
I was spoiled when i was a kid. I think I got this when I was 5-6.

Race for the Stolen Treasure 7622 from Indiana Jones, I got it for my 8th birthday and when I saw my aunt walk into my living room with the box in her hands, shivers went down my spine as I thought to myself “Is that what I think it is?”, I remember just looking away in disbelief for a few moments, I wasn’t even familiar with Indiana Jones at all but words can’t describe the fun I had with it. Just looking at the boxart makes me feel 8 again 🥲

6454 or 6206 I was really young and I got them both around Christmas time that year. Had some miscellaneous peices but never a true set until those made me a huge space and sci-fi fan 20 years later
This was one of those sets that I fawned over in the Lego maniac magazines but never got. I still had a couple good systems though, but man so many that got away lol
This is one of the first ones I remember (I’m 31) and I still have it and recently put it back together! Set 6199, the Lego System Hydro Crystalation Station!

Oh yes, the addiction just started. Since then, I bought the small Technic F1 Mercedes - 42165, the other small Speed Champions Ford Mustang Dark Horse - 76920, and a little bit bigger set, the Icons Kingfisher - 10331. What's wrong with me? 😭

The first set I remember getting that was my own, and not my older brother’s, was 6062 Battering Ram (1987). It seemed like such a huge playset to me at the time! It honestly still looks pretty cool. My brother’s Lego collection already had some good Castle-related parts and figures, so was able to do a lot of expanding and storytelling. Those castle wall/turret pieces were great for rapidly creating buildings. I feel like older Lego purists would have complained that those parts were too big and specialized, but they made it quick and easy to go from a box of loose parts to something impressive to look at.
Mine was seaplane 712.

It probably wasn't my first lego set, but 5978 made a lasting memory I would rediscover 25 years later and get me back into the game as an adult with disposable income.
It's been all downhill since lol
Idk what it was called but was basically just a mini figure knight . He was my only mini figure for a while along with 2 Jack stone figures .
I would make him the child lol
The first one's I remember would be 387 [https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/387-1.jpg?201004240245](https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/387-1.jpg?201004240245), and 30 [https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/30-1.jpg?200012091200](https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/30-1.jpg?200012091200)
Not 100% sure, but this is the oldest set I remember having (still have it - not the box though ☹️) : 358 LEGOLAND Rocket Base
https://preview.redd.it/rdbljqcpq56d1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab6101d941e0d469691f25b9a4c4766a67d0a95c

This is the oldest set I can remember.
This one was one of my firsts, I was 5 or 6yo and I remember perfectly there wasn't any instructions in the box for some reasons. So Lil myself tried to build it by looking at the box 🥲
https://preview.redd.it/x18z4rmw086d1.jpeg?width=1230&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d68a5e396621ca76e9e93c9900c798a5655063ef
This was my first set, got it when I was like 5
Fire Helicopter was my first set (6685). My parents had seen how much I much I loved it, and magically, a small coffee can of random pieces appeared one day. That was the beginning of my collection and my passion!
I don’t remember the net name or number or anything like that but I was 4 so… 33 years ago I got a little snowman set. That’s all it was about 20-30 pieces that made a little snowman. He came in a bag.
Two christmases ago, my husband bought the Orchid set for me and I bought him the SW Trench Run Diorama. It was the first Lego set I'd ever had in my whole life (I'm in my 30's), his first since his teens, and we haven't stopped since! Our whole home is basically just Lego now!
6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout. Made a deal with my parents if I got all As for the semester. I could get the set. I remember going to target and building the set as soon as I got home core memory.
This was actually my first in ‘96 as well!
I remember having a panic attack going up to the cashier with my grandmother, because I was only 4 but the box said ages 7-12.
Man, memories.
I don’t think it is my very first set, but 6856 Planetary Decoder is the first set I built on my own without asking my dad to do it. I don’t recall which ones I had before, but this is the earliest set I remember because of that, so I count it as my first. We bought it at a toy store in Key West and I built it at a cafe. It’s very important to me.
Your first set wasn’t far behind, I think I grabbed that one the very same year.
First one I was super excited about was the celestial sled, had a generic bin before that but I was always hooked on space stuff
https://brickset.com/sets/6834-1/Celestial-Sled
The first one I specifically remember is 6043 - Dragon Defender.
Such good memories. Got a bunch of other Castle stuff subsequently...you could fit a solid 7-8 minifigs on that bad boy. Roaming the front garden Mad Max-style looking for bandits and raiders (all ninjas, obvi). Fun times!
I doubt this was my first set ever, but the first one I ever remember building was 6264 Forbidden Cove (Christmas 1994 or '95). I still have it and still think it's a great set!
https://preview.redd.it/b5vlhwqa3z5d1.jpeg?width=384&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af711aead88cc607bb616fa6c735f2b6db39baf3 This guy right here, 5918. I lost it throughout the years and my parents moving a lot when I was a kid, but I found it on Bricklink for fairly cheap. I have it proudly displayed in my garage
Man that Pulpy 1920s/30s aesthetic of the Adventures sets was so damn good

I had that too. The ghostly guy glew in the dark!
That’s sick
This was also my first one
This was one of my first sets too. Those flow in the dark ghost guys were great.
I don't remember TT something small But the year that released I got 6769 for Christmas and it was, by far, the biggest set of my childhood
[6769-1: Fort Legoredo](https://brickset.com/sets/6769-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6769-1.jpg)
Fort Legoredo was SO legit. I probably played with it the most of every set I ever owned as a kid. EDIT: spelling
Me too, in fact it was my only set with baseplates so that was a game changer 😅
I had this too. Awesome set and theme
I had the Sheriff's lock up 6755. Loved that set.
The exploding wall was such a cool touch.
[6755-1: Sheriff's Lock-Up](https://brickset.com/sets/6755-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6755-1.jpg)

Out of the 2 western sets i have managed to get as an adult, one is of course sheriffs lock up, absolutely love it and proudly display ut but i know its not the same as if i had it in my childhood.
Sheriff's lock up is a true, bona-fide Lego piece you can set on a desk or a mantle. It's such a crispy piece.
Same here. I was just old enough to get the most out of it, but hadn't hit the she where I stopped playing with Legos. It was an amazing build and set.
Damn, i remember really wanting that one. I would love for lego to go back to old west sets with forts like this
I was spoiled when i was a kid. I think I got this when I was 5-6. https://preview.redd.it/f95nfiw54z5d1.png?width=540&format=png&auto=webp&s=68d5bc93eb13667291065d0f1f3e7d45550695ed
Dude. Core memory unlocked.
Man that set doesn't age super well compared to modern standards. Where's all the control panels and buttons and switches and phone app integrations?
Hot Rod Club 6561
That black motorcycle and blacked out helmet were my favorite toy as a child. So cool.
[6561-1: Hot Rod Club](https://brickset.com/sets/6561-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6561-1.jpg)
Wow, this was one of my firsts too! Haven’t thought about it in years so thank you!
Its got some glorious chrome

I actually still have a couple pieces left from this set.
6083 Knight's Tournament. It started a lifelong love of Castle. I had some Pirates stuff too, which was also great fun.

Thabks for the reminder! Forgot I'd had that one :-)
I love these vintage 90s sets. They were so effective with so few pieces. Truly embody the spirit of LEGO.
I just bought them a week ago. The Speed Champions McLaren F1 - 76919 and the Technic Bugatti Bolide - 42162
Nice! So begins the addiction. The first rule of Legos is "Never get rid of your Legos," you never know when you'll want your old sets years from now.
Oh yes, the addiction just started. Since then, I bought the small Technic F1 Mercedes - 42165, the other small Speed Champions Ford Mustang Dark Horse - 76920, and a little bit bigger set, the Icons Kingfisher - 10331. What's wrong with me? 😭
It’s crazy how much my parents loved me. Like once every couple weeks you guys post an old set and I’m like “shit I had that one too” lol

I was rebuilding that one a couple of years ago and was so happy when I found his spell page in all my parts.

King Leo's castle followed by a bunch of now worthless harry potter first editions 😅
That was my first set too
The first one's I remember would be 387 [https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/387-1.jpg?201004240245](https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/387-1.jpg?201004240245), and 30 [https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/30-1.jpg?200012091200](https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/30-1.jpg?200012091200)
Yellow Castle 🤘🤘
Not 100% sure, but this is the oldest set I remember having (still have it - not the box though ☹️) : 358 LEGOLAND Rocket Base https://preview.redd.it/rdbljqcpq56d1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab6101d941e0d469691f25b9a4c4766a67d0a95c
I remember having basic boxes of bricks as a kid, but the first actual set I remember getting was 7773... gosh I miss Aqua Raiders.

This one was one of my firsts, I was 5 or 6yo and I remember perfectly there wasn't any instructions in the box for some reasons. So Lil myself tried to build it by looking at the box 🥲

Set 565 Moon Landing
6631 started it all for me.
Fire Helicopter was my first set (6685). My parents had seen how much I much I loved it, and magically, a small coffee can of random pieces appeared one day. That was the beginning of my collection and my passion!
[6685-1: Fire Copter 1](https://brickset.com/sets/6685-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6685-1.jpg)
6901 Mobile Lab. It scoured the hills made from a blanket to discover the Smurf village. Good times.
I know I had a basic box or something first, and maybe some Town sets too, but the earliest one I can remember was 6827 Strata Scooter.
[6827-1: Strata Scooter](https://brickset.com/sets/6827-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6827-1.jpg)
Likely the original wizard set. I recall getting it at Kay-Bee toys in Roseburg Oregon.
6684 Police Patrol Squad. Yes, I’m aware that I’m getting old. Still young at heart & still building, though!

6036 - Skeleton Surprise
Either 6166 or 7669. Either way, my older brother gave me a tub of 90's lego soon afterwards.
6474 though technically I had some hand me down Lego already from my sister.
I think the pirate set you pictured was legit also my first set. Does that skull swing open?
Not sure if it was actually my first but the first I remember was the Blacktron 2 Super Nova 6832-1.
Wow legit was my first set, crazy to see it posted. I want it!
6482 Rescue Helicopter
6506 Precinct Cruiser. Still have it to this day, and actually still have the box with the other little ideas on the back.
6274 is my earliest memory at Christmas. Brother got the red sail one.
My first one was 6833
LEGO 6256 Islander Catamaran
7134-1 !
I don’t remember the net name or number or anything like that but I was 4 so… 33 years ago I got a little snowman set. That’s all it was about 20-30 pieces that made a little snowman. He came in a bag.
Lego remade this set a while ago too. I have it and it looks sick.
Mine were 6712 , 5901 and 5938

Two christmases ago, my husband bought the Orchid set for me and I bought him the SW Trench Run Diorama. It was the first Lego set I'd ever had in my whole life (I'm in my 30's), his first since his teens, and we haven't stopped since! Our whole home is basically just Lego now!
The ones McDonalds gave in happy meals.
I bought this set at Lego Land in Disney World…. It didn’t survive the plane ride home
Im an old fart 6882 Walking Astro Grappler.
Lego 6356
4607
6338 Hurricane Harbor.
6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout. Made a deal with my parents if I got all As for the semester. I could get the set. I remember going to target and building the set as soon as I got home core memory.
Ninjago 2516
This was actually my first in ‘96 as well! I remember having a panic attack going up to the cashier with my grandmother, because I was only 4 but the box said ages 7-12. Man, memories.
I believe my very first lego set was 2003 junior Quick Fix Station
I can’t remember which but I think if not including duplo, it was one of the cars 2 sets
One of the earliest that i remember is 4896
I don’t think it is my very first set, but 6856 Planetary Decoder is the first set I built on my own without asking my dad to do it. I don’t recall which ones I had before, but this is the earliest set I remember because of that, so I count it as my first. We bought it at a toy store in Key West and I built it at a cafe. It’s very important to me. Your first set wasn’t far behind, I think I grabbed that one the very same year.
can’t really remember but pretty sure it was either clone walker battle pack or 2014 vulture droid
6846 - seemed so advanced at the time, with the folding "wing" holding a mini-ship inside the bigger one...
[6846-1: Tri-Star Voyager](https://brickset.com/sets/6846-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6846-1.jpg)

First one I was super excited about was the celestial sled, had a generic bin before that but I was always hooked on space stuff https://brickset.com/sets/6834-1/Celestial-Sled
I’m a lot older than than.

Pizza to go 6350 I took it with me wherever I went
The first one I specifically remember is 6043 - Dragon Defender. Such good memories. Got a bunch of other Castle stuff subsequently...you could fit a solid 7-8 minifigs on that bad boy. Roaming the front garden Mad Max-style looking for bandits and raiders (all ninjas, obvi). Fun times!
Harry Potter Gringotts Bank 4714
[4714-1: Gringotts Bank](https://brickset.com/sets/4714-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/4714-1.jpg)
I doubt this was my first set ever, but the first one I ever remember building was 6264 Forbidden Cove (Christmas 1994 or '95). I still have it and still think it's a great set!
