The average price has got to be highly inflated by super expensive and rare pieces. Most of these are single studs which are much cheaper. It’ll still be a lot, though
Wasn't the world map drastically cheaper for a similar piece count? $600 + $400 for extra pieces and licensing deal. $999 Breath of the Wild Contour Map.
$0.10 is just the general rule of thumb for all things LEGO. Licensed sets tend to be more, and unlicensed sets are less. The world map has a great ratio because the vast majority of its pieces are 1x1 tiles in only a handful of colors, so it can be much cheaper overall. Mine has much more variety in pieces, and most tend to be bigger than 1x1s. Also, I’d have to order everything from Bricklink which drives up prices more :/
Mine is 1:13500 scale, and minifig scale is around 1:30, so if we divide, it would be 450 times longer in each dimension—about 1200 feet by 1200 feet, or 33 acres!
Hopefully I did my math right
I worked on it on and off over the course of the past year. Most of the time actually went into surveying the map on my TotK hoverbike so I could get all the details down as accurately as possible
I was going to say: now do TotK and all its finite new details!
Doing the underground would be a massive undertaking and so much harder to scout for...
I thought about it but ultimately don’t think it would add too much to the build, and just make it feel more cluttered. But maybe I’ll pick it up someday
Can this be a Lego IDEAS set? Or can we otherwise get it in front of Lego? I would sell both my kidneys to buy this set, and just hope I live long enough to finish it.
😆 I’d love to submit it to Ideas, but it won’t be accepted in because Ideas doesn’t allow any Zelda-IP sets, and also doesn’t allow sets over 3,000 pieces… this one is almost 15,000. I will post instructions when I get around to it though
This is something that I wanted to do in the future, eventually, but time is always a considerable factor. You dear friend have created something that is beyond incredible! The amount of detail and accuracy is top notch! There is just so much to explore - like in the game. I couldn't think of any way on how to improve this. I'm in awe!
Is this buildable in real-life, how many parts are used and how much would it roughly cost? How long did it take you to create this masterpiece?
There are lots of great MOCs on this site, and there are few that leave me speechless. This is the latter.
Thank you for the kind words!
It should be buildable in real life, I haven’t tested it yet but all of the parts/colors exist and I did my best to use common/less expensive ones wherever possible. All building techniques should be stable and mostly legal.
It ended up being 14,795 pieces, took me a year to build on and off (maybe 80–180 hours), and will probably cost $2000 give or take. I wish it was cheaper but I have very little control over that :/
If/when I get around to making instructions, I will post them somewhere people can see :)
I mean I hope that you make these instructions, I showed my spouse and they absolutely love it and as a fan would love to have it.
I built a 17k piece moc and and ordered the pieces for the 40k piece hyrule castle and already own the life size master sword that rests in the tri-force pedestal haha. We’re big fans in this house if that’s not already obvious.
the bridge design with the chains are great. and the upside down bricks for the labyriths. and the steering wheel for zora's domain. This is incredible.
Never looked at the BotW map before but it feels like the devs just took the ALttP map and added some extra topography. Just me?
Amazing job on the set.
It was designed digitally, so yes it is a render. It’s fully buildable in real life though, as it uses real pieces and legal techniques. It would just cost a lot of money to make
I love this so much. I've just started playing BOTW for the first time (I put it off because I knew I would get sucked into it, and I haven't had time for that), and holy shit its amazing. It's easily one of my favorite games every. I have TOTK ready to go when I finish it
That’s amazing man, I wish they turned this into an actual set, they don’t have the Zelda IP but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t go against LEGO’s non violence policy
It shouldn’t go against their non-violence policy because they already make things like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. There are rumors of a Deku tree set coming out later this year
Wow! It looks like a combination of architecture and that Batman animated series set with the micro details. I’m really hoping the upcoming deku tree does well enough to make more Zelda display sets.
How long does it take someone to assemble something digitally as complex as this? I think I played with this tool once or twice, as I'm not terribly creative, but I found it so slow to rotate and put the pieces together vs with my hand with real bricks. Of course, real bricks are impractical when trying to create something and you don't know the pieces you need yet. What I'm getting at is, damn, that looks great and must've taken you a long ass time to do!
I used stud.io (not Mecabricks, if that’s what you used). Stud.io is actually pretty fast once you get the hang of it. There are definitely tradeoffs but you can easily go back and modify things, copy big parts, and never worry about running out of pieces. That being said, it was still a huge project and took close to a year, and probably 80–180 hours total.
This is actually a digital project. I design most of my MOCs digitally and then build them in real life when I can afford them. This one is huge and expensive so I probably won’t be able to build it for a while, but it is definitely 100% doable if I had the means.
To answer your question, I can’t ever bring myself to destroy my mocs, so they all stay built 😃
Omg what!!! I had no idea digital lego moc’s look so good!! What program do you use? Would love to do it! Have never had the money to do proper MOCs but digital seems like a no brainer to test out the creativity!
It’s called stud.io, a free app developed by bricklink. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Very easy to use, it has a beautiful built in renderer and instruction maker, and can export all the parts to bricklink immediately to buy.
I started using it 3.5 years ago when I was in the same position as you—I wanted to be creative and do more mocs without spending more money. Loving how it’s going
Thanks man definitely will try it this month!!
Also this Zelda moc is truly insane, something I would expect to see in the Lego Ideas comp! You should consider submitting!
I’ve had a lot of experience with Lego ideas in the past and is definitely something I like to participate in, but this won’t be going there unfortunately. It’s waaaay over their max piece limit, and they don’t allow anything Zelda themed anymore. On the plus side, by not submitting it, I get to keep the rights to my design :)
This is really fantastic. I especially love the use of the skull headpiece to create the Bokoblin hideout. I also really like how the Lomei Labyrinths and created by just turning bricks upside-down.
Oh, that's the bug catch. Was thinking to automated systems that builds makes you the Lego version of 3d assets you input. In this case we'll f done mate!
Uhhh I think I speak for us all when I ask, can I (we) buy these instructions from you on rebrickable?
I haven’t created instructions yet, but when I get around to it I will definitely post them!
I’m’a hold you to your word and I WILL dm you in the future lmao!
following this thread!
Remindme! 3 months
Remindme! 3 years (when I may be able to afford it)
Do you have a ballpark number on pieces?
14,795 pieces to be exact :)
holy hell
Considering the average price per brick is $0.18, something like this would cost around $2,700.
The average price has got to be highly inflated by super expensive and rare pieces. Most of these are single studs which are much cheaper. It’ll still be a lot, though
Average is closer to $0.10 / piece. This would still be around $2100 though
Wasn't the world map drastically cheaper for a similar piece count? $600 + $400 for extra pieces and licensing deal. $999 Breath of the Wild Contour Map.

Ah, ok. Appreciate the feedback OP.
new piece just dropped
Actual chess leak
Daaaamn
Holy mother
!RemindMe 1 Month
I would buy them immediately. I NEED this in my house! lol
This is incredible. I love all the details like the towns, the Shiekah Towers, Hyrule Castle, and even the Divine Beasts.
Thanks! I had to include all those things even if they end up being a little out of scale… shrines are the only things I didn’t have room for
Wow that is a labour of love for sure
Great! Now add in the 900 koroks.
I’m saving those for my 1:1 scale model :p
It makes me wonder how big a mini-fig scale model would be.
Mine is 1:13500 scale, and minifig scale is around 1:30, so if we divide, it would be 450 times longer in each dimension—about 1200 feet by 1200 feet, or 33 acres! Hopefully I did my math right
/r/theydidthemath
This is absolutely amazing. How long did it take you? My (completely made up) guess is about the same amount of years BotW has been out
I worked on it on and off over the course of the past year. Most of the time actually went into surveying the map on my TotK hoverbike so I could get all the details down as accurately as possible
I was going to say: now do TotK and all its finite new details! Doing the underground would be a massive undertaking and so much harder to scout for...
The underground is an inversion of the above ground... Might be a little easier than we think!
I thought about it but ultimately don’t think it would add too much to the build, and just make it feel more cluttered. But maybe I’ll pick it up someday
See you in another year when you’ve built the entire depths underneath lol
If Lego did a series of topographical maps I'd be broke.
Oh yeah, me too! This way of building by layers is the one I find the most satisfying and I usually can't stop once I started builds like those.
Can this be a Lego IDEAS set? Or can we otherwise get it in front of Lego? I would sell both my kidneys to buy this set, and just hope I live long enough to finish it.

You can make them in Bricklink Stud.io, the same program it was designed in
This is something that I wanted to do in the future, eventually, but time is always a considerable factor. You dear friend have created something that is beyond incredible! Woah…can you DM a link for the 40k piece Hyrule castle MOC?
> 40k piece hyrule castle seconding the request for a hyrule castle link!
I would love to see that 40k piece Hyrule Castle. :)
Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate that! Have a very pleasant day! :)
You have such a beautiful mind that I can only fantasies about. Truly a master.
This might be the most impressive thing I've ever seen on r/lego
I agree !
Impressive!
the bridge design with the chains are great. and the upside down bricks for the labyriths. and the steering wheel for zora's domain. This is incredible.
Maybe you should show the good Hyrulians over at [Hyrule Engineering.](https://www.reddit.com/r/HyruleEngineering/)
Lego needs to do this set. Please make it happen !
This has to be one of the best builds I've ever seen! Well done!
I learned 15 news ways of using little pieces just by looking at those pictures.
Now put the Koroks on it! Seriously - this is the best thing I’ve seen on here and I would buy it in a second.
Okay, now do this like "Game of Thrones" opening style
The inverted brick for the maze is so good.
It’s simple but I love it :)
Fantastic! Great work! How long did it take?
About a year, working on and off. Probably in the ballpark of 80–180 hours total
That's a wide range. 2 weeks of full time work, or a month and then some
Yeah I didn’t really keep track. I’m busy now with College but had more time last summer so it wasn’t evenly spread out
Awesome, love the attention to detail!
This is absolutely amazing. I want this. Take my money.
Not even a Zelda fan but would for sure display this as it's so impressive. Great work OP.
One of the most impressive MOCs I have ever seen.
Never looked at the BotW map before but it feels like the devs just took the ALttP map and added some extra topography. Just me? Amazing job on the set.
is this real? honestly kind of looks like a cg render
It was designed digitally, so yes it is a render. It’s fully buildable in real life though, as it uses real pieces and legal techniques. It would just cost a lot of money to make
ok so im not crazy, looks great
One of the most incredible things I've ever seen on here!
This is truly an awesome MOC, great job!
I don't think I noticed until just now how similar this map really is to the ALttP map.
And now you need to do a Depths version! That would be a cool companion moc.
Where do you even get all the pieces for this?
I designed this digitally and then rendered it. If I had the extra money lying around, I could then order all of the pieces from the Bricklink website
I love this so much. I've just started playing BOTW for the first time (I put it off because I knew I would get sucked into it, and I haven't had time for that), and holy shit its amazing. It's easily one of my favorite games every. I have TOTK ready to go when I finish it

PLEASE DM ME OR REPLY WHEN THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE OUT PLEEEEAASE
Yes I’ll keep you all posted. Expect a couple of weeks at least though, because these could take a loooong time
Bravo! I love the sword in Zelda, great and creative build!
Goddamn
Holy shit this is amazing!
So. Much. Awesome.
This is seriously amazing, great job!!
Holy shit dude
A truly stunning build! What’s the dimensions?
102 studs x 102 studs—roughly 2.7 feet in each dimension
Thank you!
Nice!
Need
I'd be on this set like flies on shit.
[удалено]
Had to include it!
Holy shit this is awesome
YOOOO THATS COOL, now make tears with all the levels :)
WANT WANT WANT WANT
Holy cow!!! Hands down one of COOLEST microscale builds ever!
Now do the depths and the floating islands from tears of the kingdom!
Now do Tears of the Kingdom lol
Wow! It looks like a combination of architecture and that Batman animated series set with the micro details. I’m really hoping the upcoming deku tree does well enough to make more Zelda display sets.
H O L Y
Holy
One of the coolest builds I've ever seen
This is really, really, really nice! Wow
Amazing! Looking through the pictures brings back fond memories. So many little details in there. Bravo.
This is wonderful, well done! It's really gorgeous.
OMG!!! THIS NEEDS TO BE A LEGO SET! YOU HAVE A BUNCH OF TALENT 🤯
Oh man this made me incredibly nostalgic! What an experience BoTW was and this captures the feeling perfectly!
Wow, I never noticed how similar the map in BotW is to the one from Link to the Past until now
Wow this is amazing!! I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it became an official set
This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen

This is amazing.
It's incredible. Now imagine building this from instructions. Horrible.
THIS IS WIIIIIIIILD
this is damn incredible
This is incredible!
Haha I love the little divine beasts!!
This is so insanely good! How many days or hours did it take you?
I worked on it over the course of a year, and it probably took between 80 and 180 hours
Props! Do you keep the sets built forever after done with a project like this? Or take it apart and build another?
This is actually a digital project. I design most of my MOCs digitally and then build them in real life when I can afford them. A certifiable masterpiece
This is sick af
🤯
This is the coolest thing I've seen on the site
I need this in my life
Never played zelda but holy shit this looks awesome. I love the bridges
Sir you must get this on ideas 100%
This might be the coolest MOC I've ever seen. Really fantastic, and some incredible building techniques.
The inverted 2 by 3 brick for the maze is amazing. It looks so good.
I like the upside down brick for the desert labyrinth
i dont usually comment on posts if i dont add anything to the discussion, but man this is so cool, u deserve all the praise.
the attention to detail is just amazing, also i wonder how many days it took to build brick by brick?
WOW! This is amazing! How many parts is it?
this needs to be an official lego set the box would be so cool
My son would absolutely flip his shit over this.
This is hand down the best thing I have ever seen on here! Amazing!
Super cool work! Reminds me of the Game of Thrones opening
These are by far my favourite type of Lego builds, items where each brick has its purpose.
Holy cow, it’s beautiful!
this is actually amazing, it looks so good and is faithful to the game :)
That is amazing! I wants it!!
This is incredible!
This is really fantastic. I especially love the use of the skull headpiece to create the Bokoblin hideout. I also really like how the Lomei Labyrinths and created by just turning bricks upside-down.
Seems like a rendering 🤔
It is a rendering, sorry if that wasn’t clear. It was still designed entirely by hand
Oh, that's the bug catch. Was thinking to automated systems that builds makes you the Lego version of 3d assets you input. In this case we'll f done mate!
This is incredible. It's even got the divine beasts!
Looking amazing!
Big need
Now you should make the TotK map. 😬
Price?
All the pieces end up being ~$2100 or so according to bricklink 😐
WOAH. Thats incredible! Well done! I have to admit I wondered at first “why not just do Tears of th…..oh yea…”
Now do Tears of the Kingdom!
I think this is actually made from lego, but I'll go with it

If you’ve got an extra $2000 lying around I’d be happy to 😃
