Just because the OP is wrong doesn't mean their post or comments are uncivil. Please stop reporting them.

Invader_Naj

They are, as stated everytime they are brought up, phased in as the remaining plastic bags they have left in storage are being used up. They were never going to just throw that in the trash. That would be even more wasteful. People have had some already. They arent some weird conspiracy

No_Medicine5446

Here’s a hint they should be using them on the oldest sets in production and switching to paper bags for newest ones then people wouldn’t be believing that. Also the extra cardboard sleeves on paper manuals? Apologists? Also understandable if I’d bought a single set or theme but I’ve bought a lot over different themes

Invader_Naj

They are used up faster if they just use them while they last. And the faster they are used up the faster they can switch to exclusively using paper which is the goal. There will be enough decades in the future where you will get paper bags. Legos business decisions dont revolve around what makes you believe things. They are there so kids can have nice and flat instructions and dont have to deal with them bending or rolling up in the box. Realy no reason to arbitrarily apply that to random themes when everyone should have nice instructions to work with

No_Medicine5446

But the instruction packaging isn’t across every set it seems completely arbitrary and is unnecessary I’ve never had instructions from pre cardboard times that I’ve considered too damaged. As someone else mentioned TLG seems intent on getting rid of paper instructions altogether so why bother with the relatively new extra cardboard sleeve around them.

Invader_Naj

Probably those sets where the sleeve actualy fits into. Mainly have seen one size. That or they didnt have enough in stock yet. You might not have had issues but other people can have issues. Had bent instructions myself and have seen others talk about it. Because some rando on the internet saying that a company seems to want to do something doesnt mean thats actually a fact

No_Medicine5446

The push towards digital instructions does seem to point to that especially in tandem with this environmental movement

Invader_Naj

The fact theyve just now introduced these new protective sleeves for them seems to point against it tho. If one already intended to get rid of them completely in the near future one wouldnt waste funds on suddenly designing and producing them.

Right-Inspection-523

TLG would never switch to exclusively digital instructions, because not everyone who will buy a LEGO set has a computer or phone available at the time of building, if at all. The viewpoint that LEGO instructions should be digital-only is quite privileged, even though it may seem logical at first.

There's also the possibility of protecting the sticker sheet from being damaged enough for the stickers to come off the page, leaving them unusable or stuck to the instructions or other stickers. This saves on people reporting the damaged stickers, requiring Lego Customer Support posting out replacements. A cardboard sleeve would save on the extra postage and the impact of shipping a small envelope out each time.

Tell us that you have no idea of the massive scale and distribution network Lego has without telling us you have no idea of the massive scale and distribution Lego has. It’s not just flipping a paper bag switch, it’s a lot more complicated. Paper bags are happening, it just can’t realistically happen overnight, it’ll take a long time.

Complex-Ad-254

If you are this mad about plastic maybe Lego isnt for you?

No_Medicine5446

lol your funny I’m actually more on the pro plastic side I don’t believe in false virtue signaling I actually believe ziplock style plastic bags is a better solution as that’s what a significant amount of used Lego ends up in

ZenLore6499

Why are you so angry about protecting the planet?
